Alterity earns Thursday’s NAP vote following a dominant maiden victory at Ripon earlier this month. The progressive three-year-old controlled the race from the front before drawing clear to win by more than four lengths over a mile.

She now makes her handicap debut from an opening mark of 74 and steps up to a mile and a quarter. Her pedigree provides plenty of encouragement for the longer distance, while her uncomplicated, prominent racing style could prove particularly effective at Doncaster.

Alterity has improved with each of her four appearances and remains open to considerable further progress. With David Egan taking the ride, she is strongly fancied to follow up and complete the double.

Although she ran green and finished seventh on her racecourse debut over this course and distance on soft ground last month, she had previously shown plenty of ability when finishing runner-up in a barrier trial. She was too free on her debut in a hood, but that vital experience should help her settle much better today. Back on a much sounder surface with good ground in places, she is expected to take a major step forward today. Ridden by top pilot Wayne Lordan, she represents an interesting juvenile who is thought to be capable of much better than her debut indicates, making her an intriguing prospect who could easily reward support on this much better ground today.

Lily Bear is an interesting value selection following a seventh-place finish on her course-and-distance debut. The two-year-old raced keenly and showed signs of inexperience on soft ground, so that result may not accurately represent her ability.

She had previously displayed promise when finishing second in a barrier trial, suggesting there could be considerably more to come once she learns to settle and race efficiently.

The sounder conditions should suit, while her previous experience around Leopardstown is another potential advantage. With Wayne Lordan booked, Lily Bear could take a substantial step forward and outrun her odds of 14/1.
