Nottingham Forest have produced a solid start to this new Premier League season despite the seeming unrest behind the scenes between manager Nuno Espírito Santo and the Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, as Sunday’s hosts have picked up four points from their opening two games.

An opening day 3-1 home win against Brentford was followed up by gaining a point in the nation’s capital with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, so the Tricky Trees will be confident about their chances of further adding to their points tally at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon – especially as Nottingham Forest have won the last three encounters on the trot against West Ham!

Onto West Ham and there are already rumblings of discontent as the visitors sit bottom of the Premier League table having lost both of their opening two league matches this season, slipping to losses at the hands of newly promoted Sunderland 3-0 away and a 5-1 humiliation by Chelsea at their London Stadium.

A midweek 3-2 defeat away from home at Wolves in the 2nd round of the EFL Cup completed West Ham’s miserable start to this new season and it appears to be just a matter of time before manager Graham Potter is replaced at the helm – another defeat at the City Ground could well seal his fate.

Reason for Tip

Borussia Dortmund were held to an entertaining and high-scoring 3-3 draw away from home at St Pauli in last week’s season opener in the Bundesliga but this point gained came at a cost as right-back Filippo Mane was shown a red card and he will miss Dortmund’s opening home game of the season on Sunday afternoon.

 

Borussia Dortmund had previously opened their account with a 1-0 win away from home at RW Essen in the DFB Pokal so the hosts manager, Niko Kovač, will be urging his players to reproduce a similar result against Union Berlin at their Signal Iduna Park on Sunday.

Union Berlin will make their way to the Signal Iduna Park on Sunday afternoon looking to make it three wins on the trot after last weekend’s 2-1 home win against Stuttgart on the opening day of the Bundesliga season.

However, Steffen Baumgart’s side slumped to four defeats on the trot in their pre-season games with defeats at the hands of Furth, Schweinfurt 05, Espanyol and Olympiakos respectively, so this upcoming away encounter may prove to be a tough test for Union Berlin.

Nottingham Forest have made a steady start to the new season, picking up four points from their opening two fixtures. A 3-1 home win against Brentford was followed by a point away at Crystal Palace. Forest also hold a strong head-to-head record against West Ham, winning the last three meetings.
