With the transfer window still open, Arsenal are also working on extending key contracts and adding more depth.

If there’s one team outside the top favourites capable of pulling off something special this season, it’s Aston Villa. Yes — not just top four. We’re talking title challenge.

👉 Our Longshot Prediction: Aston Villa (80/1)

Unai Emery has already worked wonders at Villa Park, and last season proved they’re no longer just a well-run side — they’re a serious force. Villa went toe-to-toe with Europe’s elite in the Champions League, beating giants like Bayern Munich and reaching the quarter-finals. Domestically, they missed out on another top-four finish only on goal difference, following a tough final day defeat to Manchester United.

There’s disappointment in that, sure — but also massive potential. Players like Morgan Rogers have stepped up and become stars, while Youri Tielemans brings calm and control in midfield. And leading the line up front, striker Ollie Watkins remains the team’s driving force. Only Harry Kane has registered more goals and assists than Watkins across the last five years among English players in Europe’s top five leagues.

While other clubs have splashed cash, Villa’s transfer window has been low-key — but smart. Boubacar Kamara staying put and signing a new five-year deal could turn out to be more impactful than any signing. Zépiqueno Redmond, a young Brazilian forward, and Donyell Malen, who hit form late last season, offer exciting options in attack.

Add to that the tactical obsession of Emery — a manager who has won the Europa League four times and is now back in the competition he knows best — and the ingredients are there for something big.

Villa kick off with a favourable schedule and, just like last season, could build momentum quickly. If they do, and stay injury-free, don’t be surprised if they’re still in the mix come April.

At current odds, a Villa title win would pay out Leicester-style money — but unlike Leicester in 2016, this isn’t a fluke waiting to happen. It’s a serious project nearing maturity.
