Reason for Tip

Interesting little 6 runner race here in the 1.10 at Thurles and the stand out is Mullins trained Espresso Milan. Three runs for Fergal O’Brien with form of 427 before switching to Mullins and winning hurdle debut lto on fourth start in nice style. There was some greenness evident in the fluidity of the jumping that day but likely to come on leaps and bounds after that hurdle debut and looks a promising type. On pedigree, this increase in trip to 2m6f looks fine and this six year old has a strong engine, that’s been evident already. Has first string jockey aboard in Paul Townend and Mullins and Townend share a good strikerate at this course. With inevitable improvement to come over the obstacles and trip being suited, Espresso Milan could take this handily today and looks the winner in waiting.

Fort Rock made the perfect start to his career when battling on debut to score at Kempton last month and shaped like a colt with plenty of upside. He showed grit, class, and determination that day and is exactly the type Appleby youngsters thrive from second-time out.

A penalty is applied, but it’s offset by expected natural improvement and a great draw. With Buick booked and the yard thriving, Fort Rock looks set to progress past this field and make it two from two.

Seven year old Brother Boris has raced ten times without finding a win thus far but has ran some good races in defeat at times, particularly over course and distance on new years day last year when second. Because of the results since, Brother Boris is now 7lb lower today than when he finished second here last year and that can’t be ignored. Big question mark is the absence, not been since April and so has a big break to overcome. However, if somewhat primed and running well fresh, off this mark looks rather dangerous as generally jumps well, will stay the trip and has a decent jockey aboard in Tom Cannon. Decent chance down in class on returning run.

Well handicapped and partnered by a red-hot Kevin Stott, she should be prominent throughout and has big each-way appeal. A bold run is expected.

Reason for Tip

Relatively consistent six year old who has showed ability when contesting some novice hurdle at the start of his hurdling career back in Feb and March last year and was close on both of those occasions. Sent into a Listed event at Cheltenham following that and found that a little tough and a little too far and was ultimately pulled up. Had a long break following that until last seen on seasonal return lto at Wetherby. Ran a blinder and won nicely that day in first time hood. Remains open to plenty of progression and whilst this is a step back up into Class 2 company, looks nicely treated and very capable of putting in a big performance here. Does have a Skelton horse at the head of the market but that horse hasn’t looked all that so far this season and so Jack Andrews is taken to ride Anariza to victory today on ideal ground.

This seven year old has been a little inconsistent but with flashes of positivity including two starts ago at Warwick when second in this class. When last seen lto at Kempton was going over an extended 3miles and found that a little too much distance wise and ultimately faded into 5th place but did run well for what is his usual distance so positives to take. Returns to suited normal trip today of 2m4f and looks primed for a good run here back at this distance. Will like the ground, has a decent apprentice aboard taking off a big 7lb and it would be naïve to write Audacious Annie out of this. Looks to have a good chance and represents a yard having a good season so far.

Special John has form of 22211 dating back to March 2025 and bids for a hattrick here today. Has looked pretty strong and progressive at the figures since joining the Thomas yard and whilst this is a jump of two classes into Class 3, he ran a very positive race last time when winning and there appeared to be plenty of untapped potential still. Will stay the trip and the 5lb rise doesn’t look enough to keep this boy away from the winners enclosure. Lots of question marks over some of these in this race today and despite this being a warmer race, it’s definitely winnable. Decent booking in Dylan Johnston and would be no surprise to see the hattrick completed.

Seasoned campaigner who has plenty of ability if running even close to his best. Pulled up in May at Punchestown in a very warm Championship event however returned to some nice form when running seasonal return at Down Royal lto in December when second between On The Line and Con’s Roc. That’s strong form and easily sets the form standard in this lineup today. Will be fine on this trip today given the suited ground conditions and has a great record at this track including winning this race last year. From a top irish trainer in red hot form and has a good apprentice aboard today. Looks the winner.
