Three year old youngster Felix Gem was green on debut and clearly needed the experience from that fifth place finish. Progressed in fine style when going down a close second lto at Wolverhampton in a Class 3. Drops back to Class 5 company today and also drops down ever so slightly in trip which isn’t a negative. Has been highly progressive at the figures thus far and doesn’t look like he will slow that down. Wide draw to contend with today but has started well previously and should be able to get well positioned particularly with Callum Hutchinson aboard which is a positive. Felix Gem sets for the form standard and with further improvement likely could take this in his stride. Looks a very likely winner.

Felix Gem has progressed rapidly with each run. After a green debut, he took a big step forward when finishing a close second in a Class 3 at Wolverhampton last time. Dropping into Class 5 company today, he sets a clear form standard.

A slight drop in trip looks ideal and while he has a wide draw to contend with, he’s shown good early speed previously and has Callum Hutchinson aboard. With further improvement expected, Felix Gem looks the one they all have to beat.

Yet to win a race but Frisby has placed on a lot of occasions, particularly at previous yard. Returned after a break on stable debut at Catterick over hurdles which wasn’t a strong performance but returns to his better discipline of chasing today which is a big positive. Should strip fitter for that run out lto and looks to be primed for a return to form here. Will be fine over this trip and has ran well here at this course previously. This race looks to be pretty open and at 14/1, Frisby definitely has a chance at placing or better on return over fences. Yard in good form with a 60 day strikerate north of 20% and Jack Hogan gets the ride who has a decent course record. Would be foolish to rule out Frisby here and with a clean round at a decent pace, could feature at a big price.

Frisby remains a maiden but has shown plenty of ability in the past and has often run well without winning. His return run over hurdles wasn’t inspiring, but that came on stable debut and today he switches back to chasing, which is a big positive.

He should be fitter for that outing, has run well at Wetherby before, and this looks an open contest. At 14/1, Frisby appeals as a horse who could easily outrun his odds and sneak into the frame if everything clicks.

Nine year old Rockinastorm has been competitive in defeat wince returning to action in December. The fifth here at Ludlow two starts ago was a closely bunched finish and a close run affair so better than the number displays. Sub par lto at Windsor, but not all horses take to that track and that was a marathon contest which looks to be a little out of reach now he’s older. Returns to 2m7f today which is an ideal trip and is now well handicapped enough that it’s hard to ignore. The good to soft ground that’s forecasted is suited and David Bass returns aboard and he’s in good form. Yard have won this race twice in the last 6 years and Rockinastorm is now 3lb below highest winning mark and the return to this course is favourable today. Big chance.

Seven year old who remains a maiden after eight rules starts but we’ve now begun to see consistency in defeat and the form of 323 since early December last year is a big positive. Was not far away over C&D two starts ago and the return here is a plus. Rather unexposed on soft ground generally but on pedigree it shouldn’t pose a big problem. This race is not a tough assignment and Snapdance remains open to further progress and is pretty low mileage. Should be fully fit and primed for this today and Harry Kimber retains the ride. Yard and jockey both enjoying a strong spell at the moment and when they’ve combined at this course historically, have won 35% of the time. Big chance for Snapdance to break this run of close calls and get up to win for the first time.

Unexposed four year old from the in form Parkinson & Smith stable who has shown plenty of ability on first starts so far. Won a NHF at Huntingdon and has since contested some pretty warm maidens, including a Listed event at Doncaster lto. Has been progressive over the obstacles and has the makings of a decent jumper. Handicap debut here today and looks a major threat in this sphere now handicapping and this is not a loft opening mark, looks very defyable. Represents a yard in very strong form and has a top jockey aboard in Danny McMenamin. Yard and jockey have a good relationship and have won nearly 30% of their races when working together, enjoying this course in particular where they’ve won half of their races together. Big chance for Laysoft today and would not be a surprise winner.

Zoffandia had tailed off in performances at the tail end of last season however returned with a bang after a 131 day break to score nicely at Kempton earlier this month. Yard had opted for a visor lto and it seemed to really help this youngster so the headgear is retained and if it continues to assist in a similar vein, then Zoffandia could be a tough nut to crack today. Slightly warmer race than last time, but remains on a very workable mark and has a good draw in stall 3 today. Runs the usual mile and in form Ashley Lewis retains the ride after the win last time. Ashley is becoming a fine apprentice and has won 43% of her rides in the last two weeks which is not to be sniffed at. Zoffandia has a fantastic chance to complete the double here and would not be surprised to see him do just that.

Rockinastorm has been far more competitive than bare form figures suggest since returning in December. His fifth here two starts ago came in a tightly bunched finish and reads better than it looks, while his latest run at Windsor can be forgiven as it came over an extreme trip that likely stretched him at this stage of his career.

Back to 2m7f today on ground he enjoys, Rockinastorm is now 3lb below his highest winning mark and returns to a course that suits. David Bass is back on board, the yard has a strong record in this race, and this looks a very realistic opportunity for him to bounce back.

🐎 Snapdance – 3.26 Taunton (7/2)

Snapdance remains a maiden but has started to put things together nicely, with consistent form figures of 3-2-3 since December. He wasn’t far away over C&D two runs ago and the return to Taunton looks a definite positive.

This is not a strong contest and Snapdance remains low mileage for a seven-year-old. Soft ground shouldn’t be an issue on pedigree and the Walford/Kimber combination has an excellent record here, striking at around 35%. A big chance for him to finally get his head in front.

🐎 Laysoft – 4.45 Wetherby (7/2)

Laysoft is an unexposed four-year-old who has shown plenty of ability already. A NHF winner at Huntingdon, he has since held his own in warm maiden hurdles, including a Listed race at Doncaster last time.

This handicap debut looks a sensible starting point and his opening mark appears very workable. The Parkinson & Smith yard are flying, Danny McMenamin is an excellent booking, and the pair boast an outstanding record together at Wetherby. Laysoft looks a major player now entering handicaps.

Zoffandia returned from a break in excellent style when scoring at Kempton earlier this month, with first-time visor clearly having a positive effect. That headgear is retained today and another bold run looks very likely.

He remains on a workable mark, has a good draw in stall 3, and runs over his optimum mile. Ashley Lewis takes the ride again and is riding with huge confidence, boasting a remarkable recent strike-rate. Zoffandia looks well placed to follow up.
