Thursday’s racing throws up a strong mix of competitive handicaps and progressive types across Ludlow, Taunton, Wetherby and Chelmsford, and we’ve picked out a solid Lucky 15 alongside a confident NAP and a lively Dark Horse at a price.
As always, the focus is on horses who are well treated by the handicapper, returning to optimum trips, or stepping into races that look weaker than what they’ve been contesting recently.
No fluff. No gimmicks. Just solid tips — delivered straight to you.
Midnite: Built For 2026 Not 2006 Handicap (GBBPlus Race) - Southwell
Caliban
Reason for Tip
Progressive four year old son of the Sea The Moon from the Balding yard who has looked better and better each time we’ve seen him. Form of 4421 and the win lto at Kempton in a Class 3 was a great performance. Unlikely we’ve reached the veiling of this youngster yet and this looks a very winnable handicap debut for Caliban. Has ran at this course before and won over this trip lto. Yard have a 32% strikerate in the last 60 days and have shown no signs of slowing down. Oisin Murphy retains the ride from lto and that’s always a strong booking. Looks a very winnable race and i’m not sure anything can really threaten Caliban today, should be the winner.
Felix Gem – 5.00 Chelmsford (13/8)
Trainer: Eve Johnson-Houghton | Jockey: Callum Hutchinson
Felix Gem has progressed rapidly with each run. After a green debut, he took a big step forward when finishing a close second in a Class 3 at Wolverhampton last time. Dropping into Class 5 company today, he sets a clear form standard.
A slight drop in trip looks ideal and while he has a wide draw to contend with, he’s shown good early speed previously and has Callum Hutchinson aboard. With further improvement expected, Felix Gem looks the one they all have to beat.

McCoy Contractors Juvenile Handicap Hurdle (Premier Handicap) (Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Mustang Du Breuil
Reason for Tip
Cheltenham Juvenile Handicap time and one who looks a nice price at 12/1 is four year old Mustang Du Breuil from the Henderson yard. Very lightly raced and unexposed and won his debut race in France before coming over here to the Henderson yard. Won stable debut at Doncaster with relative ease in February. Third lto at Kempton in the Grade 2 Novice but at argument can be made that he wasn’t pushed for that, all they needed was to qualify for this race which they did. Looks a smart jumper who’s getting better each race and represents a yard with plenty of festival success over the years who are also rather in form at the moment. James Bowen has been aboard both UK rides and retains that here today. Will be fine on the forecasted good to soft ground and will see out this trip happily. Looks to have a strong engine which is vital for the famous Cheltenham hill and is a very interesting runner in this. Looks to have every chance at a nice price.
Frisby – 3.35 Wetherby (14/1)
Trainer: Ben Haslam | Jockey: Jack Hogan
Frisby remains a maiden but has shown plenty of ability in the past and has often run well without winning. His return run over hurdles wasn’t inspiring, but that came on stable debut and today he switches back to chasing, which is a big positive.
He should be fitter for that outing, has run well at Wetherby before, and this looks an open contest. At 14/1, Frisby appeals as a horse who could easily outrun his odds and sneak into the frame if everything clicks.
Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Old Park Star
Reason for Tip
The opening race of the 2026 Cheltenham festival and the one who looks the one to beat in the Supreme is six year old Old Park Star from the Henderson yard. After a slow start for Paul Nicholls in bumpers has won his last three races for new yard and did so impressively and progressively which culminated in the win lto in the Grade 2 at Haydock. Remains open to lots of further progress and represents a yard who’ve had plenty of success in this race previously with five victories with horses such as Altior, Shishkin and Constitution Hill. Both trip and ground are very suited and on paper Old Park Star is the one to beat. Related to festival winners and has become a very smart jumper of late. Major player and 5/2 looks a little overpriced i think and so he’s taken to get the job done.
Mowden Park RFC Novices' Handicap Hurdle - Sedgefield
Wind Your Neck In
Reason for Tip
Frustrating seven year old who is now 0-13 over hurdles but has been knocking on the door of late with back to back second placed finishes, both over the same trip as today. Looks likely to convert soon and this race looks a good chance. Ground is perfect, it’s a relatively weak race and Wind Your Neck In looks well treated still. It’s the yard and jockeys only race at the course today and whilst they aren’t exactly firing in the winners currently, have won at this course. Very likely this horse is bang in the mix again and a chance is taken on him finally getting over the line in first place. Big player.
Trustmarque Ultima Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Iroko
Reason for Tip
The 2023 Martin Pipe winner Iroko generally runs well at Cheltenham and has proven himself to be a worthy contestant on a number of occasions. A very respectable fourth in last years Grand National, this versatile eight year old always gives his all, has a fantastic engine and will absolutely stay the 3m1f. Will still have plenty in the tank come the hill and would not be surprised to see him storm up it in the closing stages similar to his win in 2023. Has to be taken seriously off this mark and will relish the forecasted ground. Won lto at Ascot and is in good form. Jonjo O’Neill aboard as usual. Tough race, but Iroko is a tough cookie and there is plenty of positives for him today and has a good chance at a nice price.
Midnite: Built For 2026 Not 2006 Classified Stakes (Div 2) - Wolverhampton
Legendsoftheland
Reason for Tip

Turners Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (Registered As The Baring Bingham Novices' Hurdle) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
No Drama This End
Reason for Tip
No Drama This End brings a progressive staying-novice profile into the Turners and has posted ratings this season that put him firmly among the leading contenders. His latest Grade 1 trial performance produced a career-best figure, achieved through strong mid-race cruising speed before staying on powerfully from two out. The Turners often rewards horses who travel comfortably over 2m5f and can sustain pressure up the hill — both attributes he has demonstrated. His hurdling has remained fluent under pace, and his stamina credentials are already proven at this trip. On recent figures and race style suitability, he has a major chance.
Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (Registered As The Broadway Novices' Chase) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Wendigo
Reason for Tip
Wendigo has shaped as a staying chaser of high potential and arrives here with one of the strongest novice chase ratings in the field. His latest run over three miles showed improved jumping fluency and a relentless galloping style ideally suited to the demands of the Brown Advisory. This race traditionally rewards stamina and accurate jumping rather than raw pace, and his sectional profile highlights sustained effort from four out. With a proven ability to handle a strong tempo and maintain rhythm at his fences, he sets a high standard among this year’s staying novices.
BetMGM Cup Handicap Hurdle (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Jingko Blue
Reason for Tip
Jingko Blue enters this competitive handicap off consistent ratings in strong company and appears fairly treated relative to his peak novice efforts. His recent runs show a solid cruising speed and the capacity to travel strongly before delivering a sustained challenge from the final flight. In Premier Handicaps where pace and positioning are decisive, his tactical versatility stands out. His mark does not look prohibitive on comparative figures with others near the top of the weights. In a race often decided by small margins, he rates a reliable each-way contender with upside.
Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase (Limited Handicap) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Favori De Champdou
Reason for Tip
Favori De Champdou has developed into a specialist in cross-country conditions, producing consistent figures over unique obstacle configurations. His recent form in similar contests highlights accurate jumping and the ability to maintain position throughout, two critical components in this discipline. Cross Country races reward rhythm and adaptability, and his profile suggests both are strengths. He has already shown he can handle the Cheltenham banks-style test and remains competitively weighted relative to recent efforts. In a niche contest where experience matters, he looks a strong each-way option.
Debenhams Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Challenge Cup Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Ballysax Hank
Reason for Tip
Ballysax Hank has been running consistently in two-mile handicap chases and arrives with ratings that place him squarely in the mix. His latest performances show sharp jumping and the ability to hold a prominent position — often crucial in the Grand Annual, where pace is relentless from flagfall. He travels comfortably at this trip and has recorded closing sectionals that suggest he can finish strongly off a strong gallop. With a mark that still looks workable, he profiles as a solid each-way play in a typically competitive renewal.
Weatherbys Champion Bumper (In Memory Of Sir Johnny Weatherby) (Standard Open NH Flat Race) (Grade 1) (GBB Race) - Cheltenham
Keep Him Company
Reason for Tip
Keep Him Company has produced one of the stronger bumper ratings of the season and shaped as though the Cheltenham hill would suit his galloping style. His debut success was achieved with a strong late surge after travelling smoothly off a steady tempo. Champion Bumpers often hinge on raw ability and stamina rather than experience alone, and his pedigree suggests further improvement is likely. With an already competitive figure on the board and clear scope to progress again, he enters this Grade 1 with legitimate winning credentials.
🐎 Rockinastorm – 2.07 Ludlow (4/1)
Trainer: H Daly | Jockey: David Bass
Rockinastorm has been far more competitive than bare form figures suggest since returning in December. His fifth here two starts ago came in a tightly bunched finish and reads better than it looks, while his latest run at Windsor can be forgiven as it came over an extreme trip that likely stretched him at this stage of his career.
Back to 2m7f today on ground he enjoys, Rockinastorm is now 3lb below his highest winning mark and returns to a course that suits. David Bass is back on board, the yard has a strong record in this race, and this looks a very realistic opportunity for him to bounce back.
🐎 Snapdance – 3.26 Taunton (7/2)
Trainer: R Walford | Jockey: Harry Kimber
Snapdance remains a maiden but has started to put things together nicely, with consistent form figures of 3-2-3 since December. He wasn’t far away over C&D two runs ago and the return to Taunton looks a definite positive.
This is not a strong contest and Snapdance remains low mileage for a seven-year-old. Soft ground shouldn’t be an issue on pedigree and the Walford/Kimber combination has an excellent record here, striking at around 35%. A big chance for him to finally get his head in front.
🐎 Laysoft – 4.45 Wetherby (7/2)
Trainer: J Parkinson & S Smith | Jockey: Danny McMenamin
Laysoft is an unexposed four-year-old who has shown plenty of ability already. A NHF winner at Huntingdon, he has since held his own in warm maiden hurdles, including a Listed race at Doncaster last time.
This handicap debut looks a sensible starting point and his opening mark appears very workable. The Parkinson & Smith yard are flying, Danny McMenamin is an excellent booking, and the pair boast an outstanding record together at Wetherby. Laysoft looks a major player now entering handicaps.
🐎 Zoffandia – 5.30 Chelmsford (4/1)
Trainer: Kieran Burke | Jockey: Ashley Lewis
Zoffandia returned from a break in excellent style when scoring at Kempton earlier this month, with first-time visor clearly having a positive effect. That headgear is retained today and another bold run looks very likely.
He remains on a workable mark, has a good draw in stall 3, and runs over his optimum mile. Ashley Lewis takes the ride again and is riding with huge confidence, boasting a remarkable recent strike-rate. Zoffandia looks well placed to follow up.
