Progressive this term with form of 431 since returning in September and won nicely lto at Chepstow in first rules race. The big factor here is Roe and Co has avoided the penalty for that win, Joe Anderson can claim 3lb today and he’s due to go up 6lb in the future which all makes this seven year a very good proposition here today to complete the quickfire double. Will relish both ground and trip and looks to be firing on all cylinders currently. Its going to be very hard for the opposition to pin this boy back given he’s escaped penalty and has a 3lb claim in this. Yard are flying with a 48% fortnightly strikerate and generally have plenty of success at this track also. Race looks to be Roe and Co’s quite frankly and should win.

The Snowden yard are flying with a 48% fortnightly strike rate, and both ground and trip look ideal. Market Rasen has been a happy hunting ground for this yard too. Given the claim, form and stable confidence — Roe and Co looks extremely tough to oppose today. Strong winning chance.

Reason for Tip

Bar the last run at Punchestown on seasonal debut, this five year old has been largely consistent and despite the form of 45540, has not finished more than single digit lengths behind the leader in four of those races. Should be a fitter horse for that run out lto and the switch to English soil may just be the change that sparks that little extra. Forecast good to soft is fine and this is over a trip that has become his norm. Not a great deal, if any experience on left handed tracks like Sedgefield and whilst that poses questions, it could also come to be something the horse handles nicely. Sean Quinlan not exactly firing in winners recently, however he does enjoy a particularly good record at this track which is a positive given it’s Newports course debut. Pretty open race and the bookies are paying 4 places at time of writing so every chance this boy sneaks a place and hopefully even better. Outside chance.

An intriguing outsider here at Sedgefield. Newport didn’t shine on seasonal debut at Punchestown, but prior to that had been consistently close, finishing within single digits of the winner in four of five runs. Looks fitter now for that outing and could benefit from the switch to English soil.
Ground conditions are fine and this trip looks right in the sweet spot. Sean Quinlan rides and while he’s not on a hot streak, he has an excellent record at this track — a big plus for this course debutant. Bookies paying four places makes Newport look a fair each-way play at 10/1.

Lock Stock is a five year old trained by Ben Pauling who is one of only a handful in this field with a run under his belt and that was last month in a Class 3 at Worcester when finishing a strong second behind an odds on favourite. Should benefit greatly from that run out and should be fitter than most of these rivals today. Has shown promise on all four starts, but the second lto on hurdle debut was a major positive, can be an unknown going over the hurdles for the first time which some of the opposition are doing today. Represents a top trainer and has an inform and talented jockey aboard in Ben Jones. Ground and trip are ideal and would not be a shock to see this boy win this.

Six year old leave in secret has form of 15134 and what’s been clear to see is that he is a 2 miler, the form in races over 2 miles reads 113 and has only really struggled when being sent further. Returns to that ideal 2 mile trip here today and the softer ground that’s forecast should not be an issue either. Course debut at Punchestown but has the experience of J J Slevin aboard who is no stranger to winners here. Looking at the card this is not exactly a strong race and Leave In Secret looks primed for another success at this level. Lots to like for this boy here today and has a great chance.

Progressive type over the last 6 to 12 months who’s looked better and better for each run culminating in a rather easy win at Sedgefield last month. Has gone up a chunk for that win but it’s hard to rule out Pescatorius given the progressing and improvement we’ve seen recently and the ceiling might not be hit just yet. Drops back in trip here which should be fine, pretty versatile to distances and will make the running. Represents a top yard having a great year and has the ever formidable Sean Bowen aboard. Both yard and jockey enjoy it here at Market Rasena and win almost a third of their races when combining at this track. Olly Murphy won this race back in 2021 and he has a good chance of repeating that here today with Pescatorius.

Largely consistent type who finished the campaign last year with two brilliant runs at Fakenham and Hexham finished first and second. Made seasonal reappearance lto at Sedgefield when it was clear that he wasn’t fully tuned up and needed the run and so can be forgiven. Should be much fitter here today and is taken to resume the good runs of last year and should be a major player here in this. Trip is of no concern, we know Ballylinch stays upto the extended 3miles and the ground is suitable too. Question marks over a lot of this field and Ballylinch looks set for another bold bid here and is taken to get the job done with C O’Farrell aboard.

Form figures of 15134 tell their own story — a consistent and talented two-miler. Drops back to that optimum trip today and conditions look perfect. Weak race on paper and a strong win contender.

Pescatorius – 1.48 Market Rasen – 2/1
Rapidly improving and won easily at Sedgefield last month. Up in the weights but still looks progressive. The Murphy-Bowen combo boast a one-third strike rate at this track. Likely winner.

Ballylinch – 3.09 Sedgefield – 4/1
Ran below par on seasonal debut but will strip much fitter this time. Ended last campaign with a win and a second, and remains on a workable mark. Good each-way value.
