Reason for Tip

Mullins trained Sober heads the market hovering around evens and Road Exile is currently 7/4. There is a couple of question marks about the chances of Sober given the trip change and so in form Road Exile is taken to get the job done. Trips is perfectly suited, he looked fantastic when winning a 26 runner maiden at Navan last month and remains open to plenty of further progress still. Form from that race has been franked since. Tougher test today but looks to be a very smart jumper from a highly respected and in form yard and improvement again today is more likely than not. Stable jockey Jack Kennedy aboard and Road Exile may be very hard to beat today.

Road Exile looks a very solid NAP in this contest and is taken to confirm the promise he showed last time out. He looked a smart prospect when landing a competitive 26-runner maiden at Navan, travelling powerfully throughout before asserting late.

That form has already started to work out well, and crucially he looks far more straightforward for this trip than market rival Sober, who has a couple of unanswered questions surrounding the distance. Road Exile jumps fluently, travels strongly and remains open to further progression for a yard in excellent form.

With Jack Kennedy retaining the ride and conditions looking ideal, Road Exile sets the standard and looks the most likely winner.

Reason for Tip

You would be forgiven for writing off the chances of Animal today when looking at the form alone which reads PP069. However this ten year has started the season with a little bit of promise and the sixth here at Fontwell two starts ago was not a bad run at all. Now sits on a career low mark and is capable of doing much better than what the form has shown recently. Should make all the running today at a course he enjoys on suited ground and has the added benefit of a top jockey booking today in Charlie Deutsch which only furthers the likeability. Odds are reflective of the form but there is a couple of positive factors for this race and Animal may well just put in a big run today at big odds under the guide of Charlie. Is a tough ask for win purposes but isn’t without a chance and is taken to place at the very least in this.

Animal is taken as the Dark Horse at a price in what looks an open handicap. Recent form figures don’t immediately inspire confidence, but there were signs of a revival two runs ago at Fontwell where he shaped far better than the bare result suggests.

He now finds himself on a career-low mark, returns to a track he enjoys, and looks likely to be allowed to dictate matters from the front — something that can be a big advantage around Fontwell. The booking of Charlie Deutsch is eye-catching and adds further confidence.

At 16/1, Animal is taken to outrun his odds and looks capable of hitting the frame, with a small chance of more if things fall right.

Eight year old Themanintheboots has plenty of ability and has shown that on numerous occasions, most recently at Navan in November when scoring in nice style. Went up 10lb for that win and failed to deliver on follow up lto. Returns to chasing today which is a switch up as he hasn’t gone over fences in quite a while and the chase form from his past isn’t overly strong. However with all that being said, he has been a strong performer of late and may appreciate the change in discipline now he’s older and more experienced generally. Represents a major yard in red hot form and top jockey aboard in Jack Kennedy. Decent chance in this race today if going well over the fences.

Six year old Kajikia is rather low mileage for his age and whilst only running 5 races since November 2024, form of those runs is 10312. The 13th place finish can be forgiven as that was a listed event at Ascot and he remains very much a major player in this class 4 company. Does have a 3+ month break to contend with but we know he goes well fresh and this trip is right in his firing range. This is a weak handicap entry point and Kajikia has shown more ability than a lot of this field. From a very strong stable with a decent apprentice aboard in Jay Tidball who takes off 5lb. Looks to be the one to beat today.

Five year old Ziggy’s Condor has been firmly in calculation in a lot of recent races and form of 24323 reflects that. Overall record now stands at 2 from 27 but remains on a very workable mark and this race looks a tad weaker than a few of his recent runs. Enjoys this surface, gets his usual trip today and a decent jockey booking in Harry Russell. Has the outside draw to contend with but has ran well from wide positions on a number of occasions so not an immediate negative. Decent chance in a weakish race.

Reason for Tip

This looks to be a pretty wide open race today in the 4.12 and one who looks to have a reasonable chance at a nice price is five year old Diligent Henry. Struggled on a few occasions since winning back in October however returns to his preferred 7f on a reasonable mark in a race that looks ripe for the picking. Stable have opted for a switch of headgear today and that be enough to get this youngster back firing on all cylinders. Has a good draw from stall 3 and his performance lto at Newcastle when a not distant fourth of ten was a positive and encouraging. Would expect a better run today over this preferred trip and Diligent Henry is capable of taking this race here in race where there is question marks over some of the principals. Good chance.
