Five year old Barn Du Brizais won his point with complete ease and was sold for £90,000 following that. Now resides with the Pauling yard and makes debut under rules today. Promising youngster who looks set for a big run and considering he’s receiving 7lb from the Murphy horse who runs under a penalty, Baron Du Brizais may be a tough nut to crack here. Represents a yard having a fantastic year and no strangers to course success either and stable jockey Ben Jones aboard for the ride. Trip and ground are likely suited and frankly looks the winner in waiting with so much progression still likely. Hasn’t ran for 139 days which is the only major question mark but yard know how to ready them and should be fine. Big chance.

⭐ NAP of the Day

Five year old Baron Du Brizais won his point with complete ease and was sold for £90,000 following that performance. He now makes his debut under rules for the Ben Pauling yard and looks a very promising youngster.

He receives 7lb from the Murphy horse who runs under a penalty, which could prove crucial here. The Pauling yard are having a fantastic season and have a strong record at this track, while stable jockey Ben Jones takes the ride which is another positive.

The trip and ground should suit, and although he hasn’t run for 139 days, the yard know how to get one ready. With plenty of improvement expected, Baron Du Brizais looks the winner in waiting and is today’s NAP.

Interesting and trappy looking race here and one who looks a tad overpriced at 14/1 is Conclave from the Balding yard. Was awarded the race on debut over C&D after the winner weighed in light however was close to the winner and the horse who got DQ’d has gone in since at Southwell in impressive style and so the form from that race holds some merit. This is a step up in class, like it is for a number of the unexposed horses in this race, however the Baldings have a great record with horses on second runs and their horses can often improve very nicely from first run. From a powerful yard with a good record here and they are also at a 39% fortnightly strikerate. Jason Watson retains the ride which is no negative and whilst this is a strong race, Conclave looks very capable of outrunning these odds and is not written out of winning this either.

🎯 Dark Horse

This looks like a trappy race, but one who looks overpriced is Conclave from the Andrew Balding yard. He was awarded the race on debut over course and distance after the winner weighed in light, but he was very close to the winner that day and the form has worked out well since.

This is a step up in class, but Balding’s horses often improve significantly from their first run. The yard are in excellent form with a strong recent strike rate, and Jason Watson keeps the ride which is a positive.

At 14/1, Conclave looks capable of outrunning his odds and could go very well at a price.

Now an eight year old, however Spycatcher has plenty of ability still and a proven record in this race as won it last year. Looked better than ever at the back end of last year when readily winning a Group 3 at Chantilly before winning a listed race at Doncaster lto. Does act very well on softer so any overnight rain here would not be a negative and the forecast may bring that. Race is another tough renewal but Spycatcher has a good draw from stall 4 and looks a major player today defending his title. Yard and jockey both at north of a 40% strikerate in the last couple of weeks and thats a notable patch of form that can’t be dismissed. Pierre has a solid course record and Spycatcher is in good hands.

Pretty open looking race here in the second on the card at Kempton and with some doubts over the Balding horse at the head of the market, plenty of other solid options. Brasil Power from the Boughey yard has been largely progressive this winter and has notched a few wins during that time. Does go a bit further today and whilst hasn’t won at this trip this winter, remains pretty unexposed at 2 miles and so a chance is taken on this boy staying and winning. Has a good draw, not that it really matters over this trip and Brasil Power has won from both the front and back of the field. Mark still looks reasonable and further progression not written off. From a yard with a good record here and plenty of winners at the moment and has a fantastic jockey booking in Billy Loughnane. Looks to have a very good chance.

Got up very well lto at Newbury when winning and whilst goes back up in trip to 2m4f today, has experience over this trip and will stay the trip. Forecasted ground is suited and Daytime Dreaming is likely to give another very good account today. Represents a smaller yard who are in very respectful form and it’s a further positive for this six year old today. Gina Andrews aboard today who is perhaps a little overdue a win and maybe that will change here.

Seven year old Knight of Magic has won three times this year over similar trips to this and his C&D figures read 231. Perhaps a little underwhelming the last twice but can be forgiven off the slightly increased mark and has now dropped back a little and this mark looks one that could result in a return to winning ways. Plenty of course experience, likely to be sat at the rear where he likes it and pushed to challenge in the final furlong or two. Change of jockey today to Christian Howarth brings some uncertainty but from a shrewd yard with a good record here and at the moment and looks to have a very solid chance here today.

A progressive six year old who won well last time out at Newbury. He steps back up in trip today but has experience over this distance and should stay well. The ground should suit and he represents a yard in good form, so another big run looks likely.
