Reason for Tip

Four runner field in the 4.30 here at Wincanton and Queens Gamble might be top weight and conceding all round but it’s for good reason. Remains pretty unexposed over fences and has contested much deeper races than this previously including two listed events and one of them was a win at this track back in February when Queen’s Gamble left short odds on favourite Bluey in the dust. Close second behind a massive improver lto at Doncaster in a class 2 and looks a very strong prospect today on drop back down in class. Trip and ground are ok and this eight year old is a very strong and reliable jumper who looks set to win this race under a solid ride from Paul O’Brien. Likely winner.

⭐ NAP of the Day

Five year old Baron Du Brizais won his point with complete ease and was sold for £90,000 following that performance. He now makes his debut under rules for the Ben Pauling yard and looks a very promising youngster.

He receives 7lb from the Murphy horse who runs under a penalty, which could prove crucial here. The Pauling yard are having a fantastic season and have a strong record at this track, while stable jockey Ben Jones takes the ride which is another positive.

The trip and ground should suit, and although he hasn’t run for 139 days, the yard know how to get one ready. With plenty of improvement expected, Baron Du Brizais looks the winner in waiting and is today’s NAP.

Reason for Tip

Wide open race here in the 4.20 and one who looks a bit of a dark horse is Golden Millie from the Horsford stable. Has been a little out of sorts of late but has a couple of things today that may spark a revival. Returns to Ffos Las for the first time since debut run at this course when when Golden Millie won and also goes chasing for the first time today. The fences may bring with them some form. Trip and ground should be suited and has a very decent booking in Charlie Deutsch. This isn’t a strong race and it won’t taken this eight year old a huge return to form to be featuring and challenging. Outside chance, but a chance nonetheless.

🎯 Dark Horse

This looks like a trappy race, but one who looks overpriced is Conclave from the Andrew Balding yard. He was awarded the race on debut over course and distance after the winner weighed in light, but he was very close to the winner that day and the form has worked out well since.

This is a step up in class, but Balding’s horses often improve significantly from their first run. The yard are in excellent form with a strong recent strike rate, and Jason Watson keeps the ride which is a positive.

At 14/1, Conclave looks capable of outrunning his odds and could go very well at a price.

Pretty open affair here in the opener at Ffos Las and a horse who’s been consistently strong when last seen is Yanka Blue from the Murphys yard. Knocked on the door the last twice with a pair of second place finishes and remains on a very workable mark. Has not been seen since December and makes stable debut today. has gone well fresh previously so no great concern there and trip and ground look well suited. Solid booking in Tom Cannon and this race won’t take a great deal of winning and Yanka Blue is set to do just that.

Largely consistent type over the last 9 months or so and whilst hasn’t won in that time has posted some strong efforts and form reads 4234. This trip is shorter than perhaps ideal but the good ground is perfect and should help counteract the trip. Will need a strong ride over this trip but has a great jockey aboard in Tom Bellamy who knows how to get the job done. Remains on a very workable mark and this is a weak race. Yard have a very good record at this track and Tom is a jockey in very good form. Plenty of positives today and looks a likely winner.

Three year old Blues and Royals has been highly progressive in first four starts with form of 8731. Only raised 3lb for the win lto and whilst it wasn’t by a huge margin, there was fuel left in the tank and theres more to come from this youngster. Mark looks defiable and returns to turf today. Has the plum draw on the rail from stall 1 and has a top jockey aboard in Hector Crouch. Hector hasn’t ridden here a great deal in the last couple of years, but does boast a 25% course strikerate in that time period. Yard going nicely and Blues and Royals frankly looks the one to beat today.

Low mileage four year old who bids for hattrick here today after picking up wins at Nottingham and over C&D here when last seen back in November. Forecasted ground is good for this which is a big positive for this boy off this mark and he’s looked a very tough nut to crack when given an easy time out front. Likely to see similar tactics from a quick start out of stall 1 and the only real question today is freshness. Yard have a good record with horses returning from breaks so that’s a positive and has a very good jockey aboard in Callum Rodriguez who’s riding very well at the moment. Callum has a near 30% strikerate at this track and generally does very well for the Bethell yard. Hattrick looks very much on the cards.

Spycatcher is now an eight year old but still retains plenty of ability and won this race last year. He ended last season in excellent form, winning a Group 3 at Chantilly before winning a Listed race at Doncaster last time out. Any softer ground would suit and he has a good draw from stall 4. With the yard and jockey both in excellent recent form, Spycatcher looks a major player again.

Brasil Power – 2.08 Kempton – 15/2

Brasil Power has been progressive this winter and has picked up a few wins during that time. He steps up in trip today but remains unexposed over this distance and looks capable of further improvement. From a yard in good form and with Billy Loughnane booked, he looks to have a very good chance.

Daytime Dreaming – 3.08 Uttoxeter – 3/1

A progressive six year old who won well last time out at Newbury. He steps back up in trip today but has experience over this distance and should stay well. The ground should suit and he represents a yard in good form, so another big run looks likely.

Knight Of Magic – 8.00 Southwell – 7/2

Knight Of Magic has won three times this year and his course and distance form reads 231. He hasn’t been at his best the last twice but is now back on a more workable mark. He has plenty of course experience and from a shrewd yard, looks to have a solid chance here.
