Accrual has had a fantastic 6 weeks with two wins and two seconds in four starts in December and January. Won in nice style here lto when making all and whilst running under a penalty today, that win was very comfortable and this five year old has plenty more to give i think. Loves the AW and has won four of his 9 starts on the surface. Drops back to 5f today after three runs in a row over 6f but that is no negative, plenty of success over this sharper trip and has plenty of speed. Has a plum draw from stall 2 and apprentice Harry Vigors gets the ride for the Loughnane yard. Lots to like, definitely not stopped progressing and looks the winner.

Accrual has been thriving over the past six weeks and arrives here in red-hot form, boasting a record of 2 wins and 2 seconds from his last four starts. He made all to score here last time and did so with plenty in hand, suggesting the penalty incurred today is unlikely to stop further progress.

Dropping back to 5f is no concern — this sharp trip plays to his strengths and he’s already a four-time winner on the all-weather. A plum draw in stall 2 is another major positive, and apprentice Harry Vigors takes over with confidence high in the yard.

Everything points to another big run, and if he reproduces recent form, he looks very hard to beat.

Reason for Tip

Large field handicap here at Kempton today and most bookies are paying 5 places so plenty of opportunity for some value to fly in. One interesting runner in this is very low mileage Just a Rose who is largely unexposed compared to this field. Won at Taunton last January before pulling up in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham. Fifth on seasonal debut lto at Taunton and clearly needed the run. Seems to have plenty of ability and with the more runs comes more experience and after the returning run out last month should be primed and ready for this today. Trip and ground both seem good from what we’ve seen so far and could still be open to any amount of progress. Represents a fantastic yard with a strong history here and stable second string jockey Freddie Gingell aboard who has already shown plenty of ability himself. Pretty open race and would not be surprised to see this seven year old run a big race into the places and certainly not out of winning it either at a nice price.

This is a wide-open handicap and bookmakers paying extra places make this a race to attack for value. Just A Rose is far less exposed than most of his rivals and could still be ahead of the assessor.

He won nicely at Taunton last January before being pitched into deep waters in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham. Returned this season with a needed run when fifth at Taunton and should strip much fitter now.

The trip and ground both suit, and Paul Nicholls’ runners often take a big step forward on their second start back. At double-figure odds, he looks a cracking each-way player with genuine upside.

Reason for Tip

Promising sort from the Nicholls yard who ran in some valuable bumpers last season including a G2 at Aintree and was never disgraced. Looked the winner if it wasn’t for the fall at the last on hurdling debut at Chepstow on seasonal return and then had a clean round of jumping on second start lto when winning in nice style at Wincanton. Beat some decent horses in that Wincanton race and this boy looks a very nice prospect for this season. Remains very unexposed over the obstacles and looks a major player in this today. Should be fine on the forecasted ground and trip is ideal. Represents a major yard with a fantastic record here and stable jockey Harry Cobden is always a fantastic booking. Great chance.

Dream Pirate is usually a pretty consistent type but the stand out statistic is that he has four wins on turf and is 0-12 on the AW. However, has looked strong in last two starts and goes up another furlong here which looks to be a positive and he’s unexposed at this far. Has a good draw for a prominent position and he’s hovering right around last winning mark. This is a weaker race than some of his recent runs and looks primed for a big run in this race. Yard in decent form and a good booking in George Wood. Big chance to get first AW win today.

This now eight year old has ran five times over fences in his career and won two of them, been second twice. Likes this discipline and has also won at this track back in May on chasing debut. He is versatile and this distance is fine, arguably prefers the 3 miles over the shorter trips and the forecast good ground is perfect. This is a tight race with plenty who have good chances but Doyen Quest is at least a reliable type who will make the running and has a good opportunity in this to take chasing record to 3 wins from 6. Represents a major yard who are in fantastic form and have also won this race the last two years. Major player.

This 4.50 at Newcastle is a very weak race and most of the horses on paper don’t really stand much of a chance. One who looks to have a good chance is seven year old Pink Socks. Ex-irish, has since moved to the Ian Williams yard and has ran credibly on first two starts over here with form of 34. Has a good draw out of stall 3 and despite the form reading 34, on figures Pink Socks has been progressive in last two starts and should be again today. Fantastic jockey aboard in Billy Loughnane who has a brilliant strikerate at Newcastle and in this very average race, Pink Socks is taken to get the job done.
