Reason for Tip

Five year old Newbrook Diamond made debut last month at Naas and put in a very credible run when finishing second. Looked to be a pretty smart hurdler and is open to plenty of progression, something we regularly see from the Elliot yards second time runners. Drops back in trip slightly here which seems a plus on pedigree. Bar the Mullins runners, doesn’t really seem like the rest are up to that much frankly and it’s likely between the three at the head of the market. Newbrook Diamond showed plenty of promise in that debut run and is taken to get the job done today under a positive ride from stable jockey Jack Kennedy.

Four-year-old Our Boy Stan stands out strongly in a field where all but two runners return from long layoffs. He set a high standard last season, finishing second in a Class 1 Listed race at Cheltenham before winning smartly at Kempton on his second start — beating Moneygarrow, who has since progressed into a very solid performer.

He brings the clearest form to the table, and although he also returns from a break, his raw ability puts him well ahead of this Class 4 field. The Pauling yard remains in excellent form, and Ben Jones rides Ffos Las extremely well.

Reason for Tip

Queen Of Astolat was a modest fifth of eight at Nottingham lto on debut. Looked very green that day and is likely to come on a lot for the experience and bred to be much better than that. Goes up in trip slightly here which looks favourable on pedigree and Queen Of Astolat has a good draw out of stall 3. She sat towards the rear lto which doesn’t often work as well at Nottingham as it can at a track like Chelmsford so if the same tactic is employed, should fare better. Is capable of a big run and whilst yard are running a bit cool at the moment, they do have a good course record with an 18% strikerate at the course. Top jockey booked in Kieren Shoemark who knows how to win at this track and there is positives to her chances today despite the odds. Likely improver and has an outside chance.

Pachacuti arrives with an inconsistent profile but is extremely well handicapped now, running off 105, just 6lb below his highest winning mark. He showed signs of life with a strong second at Newbury three starts ago and should come on for his seasonal reappearance at Newton Abbot.

Ground and trip both suit well, and he has previously performed with credit at Ffos Las. In a race where most runners have question marks, Pachacuti’s mark and conditions make him attractively priced.

✅ Verdict: If things drop right, he can bounce back at big odds — lively each-way player.

Five year old She’s Notjoeking has shown consistency and progression so far this term with form of 443 since returning. The third lto was positive and wasn’t miles away that day. Runs off the same mark here today but with Gregor Walkingshaw aboard with his 10lb apprentice allowance which puts this girl on a very tempting mark. Likely to take a big step forward today and both trip and ground are suited. Yard going very well at the moment over hurdles and likely to extend that run of form in this race too.

Gets the same conditions here today and looks a big player if solidifying that ability here again. Should progress from the debut run and has a top jockey aboard in Harry Cobden. Lots of unexposed or first time runners in the race but Knock Off Soxs looks open to lots of progression and is taken to go one better today and win.

Largely consistent six year old from the Murphy yard with form of 3F133. Wasn’t beaten by much on seasonal debut lto at Carlisle and should be fitter and more primed after that run. This is arguably a weaker race than that one lto and Jackpot D’ainay looks a major player. Yard in very fine form with their hurdlers and they have a good record here at Carlisle. One of the best in the business aboard in Sean Bowen who enjoys regular success on Murphy horses and this boy could be hard to beat today.

Almaty Star was raised to a mark of 86 following some successes earlier this year including here at this track. Struggled on the revised mark but showed promise when going down a short second lto off a mark of 78. Runs off that same mark again today which is 5lb below highest winning mark. Does generally run well at this track and so we can expect another big run today. Has a plum draw out of stall 2 and Jack Mitchell retains the ride which is a positive. Lots to like off this mark and another win is coming soon and that could be today.

Consistent veteran with form 3232U, arrives fit after three runs already this season, and can be forgiven for unseating in a Grade 3 at Ascot. Strong at 3m, handles the ground, and the Bowen yard hold a 25% chase strike-rate.

Bataillon – 2.15 Ffos Las – 4/1

Winless over hurdles but showed ability last season, finishing runner-up twice off higher marks. Long break to overcome but the yard has a 25% strike-rate with 60+ day returners. If fit, he’s a major contender in a weak race.

Inthepocket – 3.02 Naas – 7/4

High-class operator with Grade 1 form. Beaten by Ile Atlantique last time but the weights now favour him heavily, making a reversal likely. Yard in form, Walsh rides, ground suits. Should win.

Connies Hill – 3.50 Sandown – 4/1

Lightly raced improver who won well on his second start and has strong collateral form. Nico De Boinville is a huge plus around Sandown, and further improvement is expected.
