Reason for Tip

Been a tale of two halves really for Kalypso’chance, has won some good races in good style but also disappointed more than perhaps you’d like to see. However, this five year old returned to form lto at Navan on second hurdle start when winning in very nice style on heavy ground over a longer trip than used too. Seemed to relish the extra distance and so the 3 miles on soft today looks favourable and a likely positive combination. Still open to progress, is becoming a smart jumper and has plenty of ability. Yard in fine form and have a great record here and stable jockey Jack Kennedy gets the ride. Looks a very likely winner.

Rickety Gate is a seasoned 10-year-old with five career wins, and shaped extremely well on seasonal return when finishing third at Carlisle despite clearly needing the run. He should strip much fitter now and the return to Kelso is a major positive.

He boasts a 2-from-3 record at this track, runs off a mark only just above his last winning rating, and faces a noticeably weak Class 5 field. The Richards yard are in form and Callum Bewley keeps the ride.

Reason for Tip

Grand Annual winner in 2024, Unexpected Party generally runs a very solid race and the form of 22552 reflects that and he looks a little overpriced at 10/1 frankly. Has already had two runs this year and the second lto was a solid run. Could come on again for that run and despite now being 10, clearly has plenty of ability and can compete with this field of largely younger horses. Yard going pretty nicely at the moment and the Skeltons can be a shrewd bunch at times and this looks a decent race for Unexpected Party. Should relish the soft ground today and trip is of no concern. Harry Atkins takes off 7lb with his apprentice claim and that makes this old boy pretty well treated. Would not be a surprise to see him outrun the odds of 10/1 and if taking to Kelso, isn’t written out of a winning chance in this.

Terries Royale looks primed to outrun his price. He is 2lb below his last winning mark, and showed a huge return to form over this exact C&D when finishing 3rd of 15 last time out. His Doncaster record is rock-solid and he handles soft/heavy ground well.

Crucially, he is drawn in stall 2, which offers a strong statistical advantage in big-field Doncaster handicaps (approx. 16% win rate). Yard and jockey are both in sharp form.

Four year old who is still rather unexposed over the obstacles and has only ran twice over them. Third on hurdling debut at Hexham in April this year before improving post wind surgery on seasonal debut at Bangor lto when finishing second. Open to plenty more improvement and should strip fitter here today for that first run. Trip and ground are both positives and if settling better through the race Bohemond Antioch could be a big danger today. Represents a shrewd yard with a good record here and has a decent jockey aboard in Theo Gillard. Plenty of positives and wouldn’t be a surprise winner.

Well related youngster out of the Henderson yard who has only had two starts, both resulting in third place finishes. Might not be ground breaking results, but it’s arguably the best form over obstacles in this lineup, this is not a strong race. Coastal Command likely to keep progressing and lto was first run after 5 months so can be forgiven for not being fully tuned up. Represents a top yard with a top jockey aboard. Could take this comfortably.

Reason for Tip

Interesting race here in the 1.40 at Cork with some notable runners. The main player is Mullins trained Kargese who is very short in the market and Kala Conti looks good value at 9/2. Kargese doesn’t always go that great after break, and this represents chasing debut also so there is some question marks and i’m going to take her on here. Kala Conti beat Kargese back in their juvenile hurdling days and Kala Conti has the benefit of already running this season, and the benefit of already proving herself over fences when winning handily at Cork on chase debut lto. With further improvement likely and her being primed for this, she could take some beating and Kargese might not have what it takes on seasonal return, we will see. Regardless, this is a fascinating contest, Kala Conti represents a major yard with a top jockey aboard in Jack Kennedy and both of them are used to success at this track. 9/2 looks good value, and Kala Conti has every chance.

De Kingpin has been a bit of an inconsistent type since winning a valuable Newbury novice hurdle last December however we saw a slight resurgence when going chasing for the first time lto at Ffos Las when fourth after a long lay off. Further improvement very likely and tis race today is a much weaker affair than the one lto and is very winnable for this six year old. Won’t take much improvement to get the job done today and De Kingpin is from an inform yard with a great jockey aboard in Ben Jones. Big player.

Green on debut but sure to improve massively for the flying Burke yard. Drawn in stall 1, ideal for Wolverhampton. Big chance in a weak race.

Castle Cove
Beaten just 2 lengths in a strong Class 2 last time, now down in grade and drawn well in stall 4. Form strongly suggests more to come.

City Of Poets
Talented but quirky. Best runs come when allowed to lead — drawn well today and likely to get that run style. Yard striking at 45% in the past fortnight.
