Reason for Tip

Four races so far under this four year olds belt and after a couple of flat runs in Ireland earlier this year, came over the England and has been a force to be reckoned with in this grade. Won at Catterick in November before winning again at Wetherby lto by half a length. Winning distance could have been more, looked to be more left in the tank lto and I definitely don’t think we’ve seen this youngsters ceiling of capability just yet. Has looked better and better each run and further progression looks nailed on. Yard have found a good race here, Indian River should be capable of completing the hattrick today and runs over his usual recent trip of the straight 2 miles and will be more than fine on the forecast ground of good to soft. Top jockey aboard in Brian Hughes and this race looks Indian River’s to lose. Should win.

Indian River looks a serious prospect and is taken to complete a hat-trick here. After a couple of quieter runs in Ireland, this four-year-old has really found his feet since switching to British racing.

He landed a tidy success at Catterick in November before following up at Wetherby last time out, where the winning margin could easily have been greater. He travelled strongly throughout and looked to have plenty left in the tank.

This is another sensible placement by the yard, the straight two miles suits perfectly, and the forecast good-to-soft ground is ideal. Add in Brian Hughes, who knows Sedgefield better than most, and this looks a cracking opportunity.

Verdict: Progressive, well-placed, and hard to beat.

Prophets Corner looks overpriced in what is a very open chase handicap. A useful hurdler at mid-level, he has taken time to adjust to fences but has shown improvement with each chase run this season.

Today marks his first chase handicap, and he starts off just 3lb below his hurdles mark, which immediately puts him on a workable rating. His jumping has sharpened, the trip will suit, and the ground holds no fears.

Darragh O’Keeffe is an excellent booking and knows how to get one into a rhythm around Naas. At double-figure odds, he looks more than capable of outrunning his price.

Verdict: Strong each-way claims in a race lacking depth.

Field of unexposed youngsters and one who catches the eye is Lynches Knock. Only horse in this race with two runs under their belt and the experience could be very beneficial here today. Ran a creditable race on debut when third of ten despite trouble in running. Came on very nicely on second start at Leopardstown when winning handily and looks a progressive type. Course debut at Naas today but both trip and ground are fine and represents a yard with a great record here. First string stable jockey Jack Kennedy aboard for the first time on Lynches Knock and that’s a fair upgrade jockey wise from previous runs. Further progression likely, looks a smart youngster and a likely winner.

Largy Train enjoyed a really good spell back in 2024 when landing a hattrick and has only raced twice since 15th December 2024. Was knocking on the door on the two runs since return with form of 23 and should be fully tuned up and primed for a big performance today. Does drop back in trip today which is not a negative, the drop in distance may suit as has been struggling to close out the races. Has a decent course record and has plenty of ability to win in this grade off this mark. Usual jockey not aboard today, switched to Charlie Maggs and that change could spark some improvement too. Relatively weak race, and one that this 9 year old can win.

Somewhat a course specialist and does a lot of his running here including five wins at the track. Wasn’t on song when returning for seasonal debut in December at Haydock when 7th of 9 but bounced back nicely as expected to finish a close second last time out here at Sedgefield. Mark is definitely not out of reach in terms of another win and should be fit and ready to go after two seasonal warm up races. Only real question is the trip, goes beyond 3m for the first time and all wins at this track have been at 2m3f-2m5f. Represents a decent yard with a strong jockey aboard and a likely winner if staying the distance.

Reasonably talented hurdler and competed in some big races including a number of Grade 1’s, albeit without success in that class of races. Switched to fences and on chase debut fell at Punchestown but bounced back in clinical style when winning later that month on second start. Remains unexposed over the fences and from what we saw lto, he’s taken to them well despite the debut. Further progress likely and whilst it’s needed to take this race, he represents a top irish yard with a stellar record here and has stable’s best aboard in Paul Townend. Trip and ground both fine, acts on heavy, so there is a lot to like and Argento Boy would not be a surprise victor here.

A genuine course specialist, Tom Creen has five wins here and bounced back to near-best last time out when second over C&D. Fitness should now be spot on.
