Seven year old Supremely West is a three time hurdle winner with all three wins coming on soft or heavy ground. The ground is currently down as good to soft, but Cheltenham is getting hammered by rain currently and will continue to do so long into the night and I would be surprised if the ground wasn’t soft tomorrow. Supremely West ran creditably on seasonal debut when finishing very strongly over C&D last month and should be fitter today and looks nailed on for a big run in this. Represents a major yard who are firing on all cylinders at the moment and top jockey Harry Skelton aboard who is not a stranger to wins at this track. This boy is a proven stayer and has a strong engine and is ideally suited to the run in at Cheltenham. Looks a major danger regardless, but if the ground goes soft or heavy, looks even more the likely winner.

Supremely West is a proven soft-ground performer, winning all three of his hurdle victories on soft or heavy. Cheltenham is currently being battered with rain and conditions should turn in his favour by the off.
He shaped excellently on seasonal debut over C&D last month, finishing powerfully, and should be much fitter today.

The Skeltons are flying, Harry has a superb Cheltenham record, and this looks a very winnable Class 2 race.
A strong stayer with serious engine — the one they all have to beat.

Paddypower Gold Cup time at Cheltenham here today and of the numerous Irish Raiders in this race, Coming Up Easy looks a very tempting horse. This seven year old is a proven winner over in Ireland and looked better than ever when winning a Listed Chase Handicap at Killarney lto in August. Tends to jump cleanly which is important here and can finish strongly, again a positive at this track. Coming Up Easy is pretty versatile with the ground and will probably thrive if a little softer tomorrow which it could be with the rain they are getting overnight. Jagwar is out of this race and it now looks pretty wide open for the taking. Represents a top Irish yard with a good jockey aboard and has every chance at a big run here today. Good chance to place at a nice price and if Coming Up Easy gets an easy time of it from the front, is capable of a win too.

De Bromhead sends him for a reason — and if he gets into a rhythm near the front, he could outrun his odds in a big way.

Reason for Tip

Five year old from the De Bromhead stable with form of 33 on first two starts. Probably didn’t quite improve as much as some would hope lto however it was seasonal debut after a break of 6 months and so can be forgiven for that and should strip much fitter here today. The Store Boy is being sent a little further this time out which from the first two runs we’ve seen, looks favourable as looks as if he’s been crying out for some extra yardage and on pedigree it’s a positive too. Yard are in strong form at the moment and have a good record here so it would be no surprise to see this five year old improve and win today.

Sound And Fury notched up a few wins last term and showed that ability when winning lto on seasonal debut at Carlisle when going fresh after a break. Has only gone up a minor 2lb for that success and given he’s likely to be a little more tuned up today, i’m not sure that rise is big enough to rule out major contention. Proven stayer and has won 50% of his chases and is still relatively unexposed in the sphere. Represents a good yard who are very much in form and whilst its course debut at Cheltenham today for this eight year old, still looks very capable of a big run at a nice price.

Ruby Island kicked off this years campaign with her first run over fences and seemed to take them well, finished second behind Push The Button. Proved ability when winning lto at Ayr and with two runs under her belt this season, should be primed and ready to go for a big race like this. Is 2lb better off with Push The Button this time and whilst there is a clear market leader who looks a talented horse in Meetmebythesea, they are coming off a long break and may not go well fresh. Ruby Island looks a tempting price at 4/1 at time of writing and looks as if she will win plenty more chase’s, with this possibly being one of them. Yard are flying and good booking in Danny McMenamin, big chance.

Cerendipity is a consistent and versatile eight year old from the Parkinson&Smith yard who has proven ability off this mark on numerous occasions. Made a very positive seasonal debut at Stratford last month when finishing second and looks to be on a workable mark still for this race. Runs over the same trip as lto and will be fine on the ground. It won’t matter if the heavens open overnight as heavy ground would not be a negative. This isn’t an overly strong race and with Gavin Sheehan aboard, Cerendipity looks the one to beat here.
