Reason for Tip

Highly progressive Frankel Colt who has shown bags of talent in his first four starts. Debut was won in nice style in a Class 4 at Yarmouth. Second start finished 5th in a listed event at Newmarket after 6 months off and the two runs since have been comfortable wins in Class 2 company, both at Hamilton. Upped to a Class 1 here but that’s nothing to be worried about, Sallaal is a group horse in the making and already holds a Group 1 entry over this trip. Represents a top yard who have a stellar record at Sandown and Ray Dawson, despite only having 4 rides at Sandown in the last couple of years, has won 50% of them. Sallaal should win this, and looks a cut above the opposition already despite their still being likely improvement.

This Frankel colt has already shown star potential, winning on debut and adding two more victories in competitive Class 2 contests at Hamilton. He now steps into Listed company, but everything about his profile suggests he’s a group horse in the making.

With Varian’s yard flying and Ray Dawson boasting a 50% strike-rate from limited Sandown rides, connections look primed to strike again. Sallaal holds a Group 1 entry and should simply prove too classy for this field.

Interesting race this with lots of promising three and four year olds contesting it. One that stands out as a bit of a dark horse is three year old Modern Utopia from the George Scott yard. She has been running Listed events all year since May and the form in those four races reads 6449. She is likely to give a decent running, particularly if some overnight rain comes as she is a dual handicap winner on testing ground last year and will enjoy a softer ground. Has not been disgraced on most of these occasions and the Goodwood and Newmarket runs in particular were positive. Yard has decent course form and are turning in regular winners currently and so it will be no surprise to see this outsider challenging for the places at a big price and with a bit of luck and a bit of rain, might even be contesting the win. Outside chance.

He did disappoint at Ascot earlier in the year but the form since then reads 3432 and has seemed progressive in last few starts. Has good form on this ground and has a top booking in Kieren Shoemark who wins around one in five rides at this course. Represents a shrewd operation who regularly have success at Yarmouth and looks a major player.

The yard are having an outstanding year with two year olds and Dunkeld Dreamer doesn’t look like she is done progressing yet with the nature of the win lto. Remains well treated and seemed to relish the extra trip lto which is the same trip as she runs over today. Relatively weak field and it would be no surprise at all to see this youngster take the victory under a positive Clifford Lee ride.

She has good course form and represents a trainer who is enjoying a sensational few weeks with a 30% strikerate in the last month. Top booking in Hector Crouch and there’s a good chance for this filly to win this race for the trainer who won it back in 2016.
