Match Overview

Sheffield United host Bristol City at Bramall Lane in what promises to be an entertaining clash in the Championship. With both teams having had very good campaigns last season, this game offers real value in the betting markets.

  • Sheffield United come into this on the back of a Championship playoff final loss to Sunderland where the game changed in a matter of moments. Having lost out on promotion last season, the blades will need to bounce back with a positive campaign. Ruben Selles now finds himself with the reigns taking over from Chris Wilder.

  • Bristol City on the other hand come into this game having slightly overachieved last season, gaining a playoff place in which they played against todays counterparts, losing 6-0 on aggregate. Since then, they have a new manager in Gerhard Struber who will be looking to make his stamp on the side.

These two opponents will know eachother very well but it will be interesting to see how Struber and Selles implement their style onto the pitch. With two new managers, there will always be time for adaptation but this also tends to bring around mistakes.

As mentioned in the match preview, 2 new managers, 2 new systems and a complete unknown in terms of styles. This naturally will lead to the odd mistake as players adjust to a system. Both teams showed that they have quality at the top end of the pitch although Sheff United were a lot more rigid in defence. It is yet to be seen whether this measn they are more open under Selles, but the BTTS market provides a good price.

Gustavo Hamer is a stand out at Championship level with 10 goals and 8 assists last season. He makes the blades tick and if anything good is happening, he is usually at the heart of it. Under manager Selles who has been known for his attractive style of play, we like Hamer to be involved and a shot on target is a great price.

This was a selection that landed a lot last season and I like it here again. Sheffield United with a new attacking manager should be leading this statistic more often than not, especially when they want to be towards the top end of the table.

✅ Corner match bet – Sheffield United
Another market that was beneficial for the blades last year was the corner match bet market. If we are correct in Sheffield United being a more fluid attacking side, the shots on target and corners should be able to go hand in hand together. This is also a favourable price to enhance our overall odds.
