York Tower has a superb opportunity to show his true quality as he steps down in class for the 3.40 at Thirsk. Trained by William Haggas and ridden by top jockey Tom Marquand, this 3yo gelding by Call To Mind is highly unexposed after just four lifetime runs. He ran with massive credit on his handicap debut at Epsom 25 days ago, finishing a respectable fourth in a much tougher Class 2 event over ten furlongs. Stepping down to Class 4 company today will make life significantly easier, and the move up to a stiff mile and a half is expected to suit his pedigree perfectly. In a highly competitive and compact five runner field, he should thrive on the sounder turf and find the race dynamics much more to his liking, making him a major player to bounce back and secure a first career win.
