Quite a big field Class 5 here in the second race at Kempton and eyes are drawn to one of the few debutants in this race, the two year old colt Talk Of New York from the Appleby’s. He is beautifully bred and related to some talented horses and the Appleby’s know how to get their two year olds ready first time and have a stellar 23% strikerate with first timers. Yard have a quite remarkable 33% strikerate here at Kempton and William Buick gets the ride who has a 37% strikerate at Kempton. When combining here at Kempton they win half of all their races, which is quite a dominant statistic. There is some horses from other big yards including two from the Gosdens but Talk Of New York is taken to win this first time. Drawn well, Kempton has quite a strong stall bias and nearly half the winners come from stalls 6,4,2 or 1 and he is in stall 6 today. Looks a very likely winner.

Four-year-old with form of 2313, who hasn’t put a foot wrong this season. Makes course debut here at Hereford, but her only win came going right-handed — and with Hereford’s layout playing to that preference, conditions look perfect.
The Snowden yard are flying, boasting a 60% strike rate in the last fortnight, and Sheehan’s own 50% win record only boosts confidence. Ground and trip look ideal, and this filly has the strongest form in the race.
Should take this comfortably — strongest bet of the day.

This appears to be quite an open race here in the 2.40 and one that looks a bit of a dark horse is two year old Paroled from the Jack Jones yard. He has only ran on four occasions so far but has looked a bit sharper and a bit of an improver and remains very unexposed against most of this field, particularly the principles. Course debut here today but he should enjoy this track and the yard have a decent record here and are running at a 33% strikerate this last fortnight. Has the benefit of Hector Crouch aboard today for the first time and he is a jockey with a stellar record here, and is enjoying a fine run currently. Lots to like on second handicap for this youngster and he may outrun his odds in fine style here. Decent chance at big odds.

A proper outsider in this wide-open handicap, but one that could outrun huge odds.
Had a solid 2024 season with form of 5523 in stronger company before a year-long break. Reappeared recently, understandably rusty, but now fitter and 7lb well-in thanks to the apprentice claim.
Loves this trip, has shown ability at the track, and if finding that old form, could easily grab a place — or even sneak a shock win.
Each-way value at a monster price.

Very green on debut at Kempton when finishing 8th but has been highly progressive since with a couple of close second places on last two starts. Runs in the same Class 5 today over the mile and he looks a major threat here. There is one ahead of him in the market so far at time of writing but that horse (Return To Unit) hasn’t quite lived up to expectation thus far and the odds are bit short for what we’ve seen so far. Canopus has shown lots of ability and posted good progressive figures and is no doubt going to improve further here and his form is some of the best available. From a top yard and has a top jockey aboard and when they both combine here at Nottingham they have a 50% strikerate together. Some notable newcomers who could be anything but Canopus has lots going for him and is taken to get the win here under a positive ride from Kieren Shoemark.

Four year old who has been largely progressive when hurdling this year and when the hood was added lto he thrived and won nicely at Worcester. The form from that race has since been franked and Caelan is taken to back it up with another win here. Small field and Caelan remains unexposed over hurdles and is open to further improvement. Yard are in very strong form and Sean Bowen retains the ride from lto and is aboard again here. Hard to back against Sean Bowen these days, he rides in winner after winner consistently, and has a great record on Murphy trained horses. Big chance for Caelan to backup the win lto today.

Relatively consistent three year old from the Evans yard with form of 54153. The third lto was in a much deeper contest than this and Dovey Moon drops back three grades to a Class 5 here today. Has ran creditably at this track whenever he’s ran here and is taken to put another big run in today. Remains well handicapped and will likely get out quickly and take up a prominent position and has the ability and stamina to make all here in this race. Jockey Jack Callan has a 5lb apprentice claim and is a man in form with a strikerate around 25% in the last fortnight. Lots to like here and this youngster looks a likely winner.

Two year old from the Morrisons’ who was green to begin with on debut before she settled in and finished very strongly towards the end of the race. Big indicator she will improve a good deal here today and whilst this is a warmer race, she did show good ability lto once settled and can improve beyond most of these runners. Trainer doesn’t have the best record here, but Nebbia may be one of the ones who does. Has the benefit of Cieren Fallon aboard who is a good booking and combines well with the Morrisons historically and so a chance is taken on second start for this girl and it may just work out for her.
