NFL Week 2 Preview and Analysis

The 2025 NFL season rolls onwards this week into week 2 following a fantastic opening round of fixtures.

After cashing in on a tidy 4/1 Moneyline acca winner in Week 1, we’re rolling straight back into the action with eyes firmly set on doubling up this weekend. The opening slate gave us drama, upsets, and a few comfortable covers—and now Week 2 offers another golden opportunity to piece together the right sides and deliver value. With heavyweight clashes, divisional rivalries, and a couple of live underdogs in play, this week’s acca could be just as profitable as the one we landed on opening weekend.

This weeks offers a better understanding of the way some clubs are looking to operate both offensively and defensively which allows us to delve deeper into the markets to try and provide even more analysis and expert opinion.

NFL Sunday Week 2 Matchups

After an exciting opening weekend full of standout performances, Week 2 kicks off with anticipation as teams seek continuity, responses, or quick rebounds.

Opening Night – Thursday, September 11

  • Washington Commanders at Green Bay Packers
The early Week 2 action begins on Thursday with the Commanders visiting Lambeau. Expectations are high as the NFL’s opening-night primetime slot often sets the tone for the week—but details on lines or storyline are sparse heading into the weekend.

Sunday Showdowns – September 14

A full slate of games awaits, with teams confronting early truths and adjustments.

Key Matchups & Betting Lines

  • Browns at Ravens: Baltimore opens as a heavy favorite, with early lookahead

  • Bills at Jets: The Jets, after a narrow Week 1 loss, remain underdogs. The spread hovers around Bills -8.5, reflecting Buffalo’s position atop the AFC East hierarchy.

  • Giants at Cowboys: A clash of NFC East contenders with early betting lines suggesting a close game.

  • Bears at Lions: The Bears, under new coach Ben Johnson, are 4.5-point underdogs in Detroit as Lions struggle to find offense.

  • Rams at Titans: L.A. gets a bump in favorability with the Titans banged up up front. Early forecasts peg the Rams as ~5.5-point favorites.

  • Buccaneers at Texans (Monday Night): Set for a Monday night return, Houston opens as a slim 2.5-point favorite despite both offenses underperforming in Week 1.

Additional Matchups (From Official Schedule)

  • Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens

  • Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Cincinnati Bengals

  • Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants

  • Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions

  • New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins

  • San Francisco 49ers vs. New Orleans Saints

  • Buffalo Bills at New York Jets

  • Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Los Angeles Rams at Tennessee Titans

  • Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals

  • Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts

  • Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs

  • Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings

Narrative Angles to Watch

  • Redemption vs. Consistency: Teams like the Jets and Browns need quick turnarounds, while favorites like the Bills and Ravens aim to assert control early.

  • Emerging Division Storylines:

    • NFC East: Cowboys vs. Giants will have early implications.

    • NFC North: Bears’ early stumbles vs. Lions’ home-stage optimism.

    • AFC South/North: Jaguars at Bengals; stability vs. continuity.

  • Health & Offensive Stability: The Rams benefit from Tennessee’s front-line injuries. Meanwhile, both the Buccaneers and Texans find themselves in a grind-fest on Monday night.

Why Each Leg Makes Sense

LA Rams Moneyline

Heading into their Week 2 clash, the Rams face the Tennessee Titans—who lost their starting right tackle, JC Latham, to a hip injury in Week 1 and it’s uncertain if he’ll return. His absence significantly weakens Tennessee’s offensive line, which already underperformed despite heavy offseason investments. This opens the door for Rams defensive standout Jared Verse to exert major pressure on rookie QB Cam Ward. A compromised O-line on Tennessee’s side sets up a potential defensive mismatch in L.A.’s favour. The Rams are coming off a dominant preseason Week 1 win where they held the opponent to nine points and zero touchdowns. With Verse and the defensive core clicking early, the team has momentum on their side and a strong setup to carry into Week 2.

Buffalo Bills Moneyline

As reigning AFC East champions and serious Super Bowl contenders, the Bills enter Week 2 with clear momentum and established credentials. Oddsmakers are heavily favouring Buffalo on the moneyline and the public is backing them accordingly—tickets and bet amounts significantly favour the Bills. They just notched up 41 points in an all time classic comeback against the Ravens showing their offensive quality and while the Jets were on the receiving end of a close loss, we would expect the Bills to find another level to beat the Jets.

Detroit Lions Moneyline

After a disappointing Week 1 loss to Green Bay (27–13), head coach Dan Campbell openly took responsibility for the team’s poor performance. He emphasized that the issues were “so correctable” and pledged that the team would adjust and improve quickly. This level of accountability often leads to sharp in-season responses and elevated performance in bounce-back games. Ford Field offers a true home-field advantage: fans are ready to welcome back former offensive coordinator-turned-Bears head coach Ben Johnson—and they’re unlikely to be in a welcoming mood. The Lions opening week loss has also provided us with better odds in this market which is always welcomed.

Dallas Cowboys Moneyline

Despite losing Week 1, Dak Prescott played efficiently in his return from injury. Under heavy pressure, he completed 75% of his passes, avoided sacks, and earned a game-high 90.0 grade from Pro Football Focus. He showed poise, elusiveness, and accuracy—clear indications he’s back in form. Generally, many were surprised with how good Dallas looked and this should indicate a fairly decent season for them.

The New York Giants head into Week 2 plagued by uncertainty at quarterback following a disappointing 23–6 loss to Washington in Week 1. Russell Wilson’s performance under pressure was poor—he completed only 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards—and his role as starter is now in doubt. Coach Brian Daboll hasn’t committed to him yet, which reveals instability in a critical leadership spot.
