Scottish Open 2025 Preview

Competition: 2025 Genesis Scottish Open (Rolex Series event, co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour)

Date: Thursday, 10 July 2025 – Sunday, 13 July 2025

Start Time: First round begins early local time; in the UK, coverage starts around 8:30am BST on Thursday and Friday, and 10:00am BST on Saturday and Sunday

Venue: The Renaissance Club, North Berwick, Scotland – a par-70, 7,237-yard course designed by Tom Doak

Broadcast & Viewing Info:

  • UK: Live coverage on Sky Sports Golf, beginning around 8:30 am BST (Thurs–Fri) and 10:00 am BST (weekend)

  • US: Coverage on Golf Channel and CBS, with streaming available on ESPN+ (PGA Tour Live), Paramount+, and the NBC Sports App

 

Bringing you this year’s precursor to the Open Championship and it comes from The Renaissance Club in South Lanarkshire for the 6th consecutive year.
The course is a par 71 with a yardage of 7282. The course is a modern style links course and should play fantastically well with some unusually great weather conditions forecast for the week. With its wide fairways,unforgivingly thick rough and natural dunes it’s sure to be a real test of links golf. Wind will always be a factor but with the dry weather expect some big tee shots with plenty of carry from the big hitters.
Last year’s winner Bob MacIntyre will be looking to win once again on home soil alongside a very strong field including world number 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory Mcilroy, Ludvig Aberg, Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood and
many more from the DP, LIV and PGA Tours respectively.

Ryan Fox could be a lively contender at the Scottish Open, especially given his proven ability in testing, links-style conditions. A winner at the BMW PGA Championship last year and with a strong Open Championship record, the Kiwi thrives in wind and has the creativity needed for Renaissance Club’s layout. If his iron play sharpens up, he has the temperament and power to contend.

Ludvig Åberg @ 20/1 paying 10 places

Ludvig Åberg arrives at the Scottish Open with serious credentials and momentum behind him. A proven winner on both sides of the Atlantic and one of the most consistent ball strikers on Tour, his tee-to-green game is tailor-made for the demands of Renaissance Club. With his calm temperament and sharp iron play, Åberg looks more than capable of mounting a strong challenge this week.
