Reason for Tip

Four year old Emit is pretty low mileage still and remains open to plenty of further progression. Only finished outside the top two once in career so far and that was a subpar run in a Group 3 at Ascot last June. Solidified promise when third in a Group 3 at Longchamp two starts ago and then was second again in a much warmer Group 2 there lto in October. Does have the break to content with but yard have a good record with fresh horses and this is not the same level as those races today. Trip is fine as is the ground and has the services of Ryan Moore for the ride. Emit looks like he will take some beating today and represents a yard and jockey combination that are no strangers to success. Big chance, likely winner.

Fidelius is a model of consistency and looks to have been found a cracking opportunity here. Only raised 1lb for a narrow second last time, he now drops into a lower-grade contest and faces rivals with plenty of question marks.

He’s already proven at Lingfield, Marco Ghiani knows him well, and everything points towards a big run. With conditions ideal and a small field to navigate, Fidelius is taken to go one better today.

Absolutely wide open race here in the 3.15 and one who looks to have a potential chance on drop back in class is four year old Eupator from the Hannons. Completed a Wolverhampton double at the start of the year but has been well held the last twice off the increased mark. Would take a personal best to get the job done today but mark has slipped by 1 following the run last time and this trip is very much within firing range. Eupator runs his best races from the front and is likely to lead again today from stall 3. From a yard with a decent record here including a place in this race last year and has a good jockey aboard in Joe Leavy. Outside chance, but definitely not written off today in suited conditions and may throw up a big run today.

A wide-open race where Packetofbiscuits could easily outrun his odds. His mark has slipped to a very tempting level, and last time out at Southwell he showed more than the finishing position suggests after issues at the start.

This is a weak race at his usual trip, and the booking of P J McDonald is a notable positive, especially given his strong strike rate at Newcastle. At 16/1, Packetofbiscuits looks a solid each-way play with place claims and more if things fall right.

Irish raider Andab has made a very respectable start to career thus far with decent form in Group 2’s and 3’s including a second at Deauville, a win in a listed event at Dundalk and then another second lto in Doha. Looks a major threat in this race despite a 3lb penalty and has form over this trip. Small field race so draw not overly as important and Andab remains open to plenty of further progress still. Best form on paper and could be too much to handle for the rest of them today in a weaker affair than recent runs. Top jockey aboard in Billy Loughnane only furthers appeal and looks a likely winner today.

Warm handicap here in the second on the card at Newcastle and one who looks a major contender on handicap debut is Silent Strike from the Balding yard. Not the most lenient of opening marks but has looked a smart youngster in first three races and is a nicely bred three year old who looks promising. Represents a yard and jockey who have won this race in both its forms for the last three years and Silent Strike looks to have a great chance at furthering that statistic. Does have a wide draw to contend with and has been running on the prominent side of things so far so will require a decent start but has a very talented jockey aboard in Oisin Murphy so should be fine. Yard and jockey both firing at the moment and Oisin has a stellar 43% course strikerate here in the last 2 years. Major player.

Very interesting lineup here with the market favourite being Faiyum from the Lyons yard who had a cracking year as a three year old. However preference is for three year old Moments Of Joy who is no slouch either and was a very credible third in the Chesham at Ascot and wasn’t disgraced in the Group 1 fillies mile at Newmarket. Whilst decent as a two year old, Moments Of Joy just looked one of those horses who will excel as a three year old and a chance is taken on that prediction being right. Unexposed to this forecasted soft ground but on pedigree should be fine and has a plum draw from stall 1. Represents a major yard who’ve started the season strongly and has one of the best around in Ryan Moore. Big chance for Moments Of Joy to start life as a three year old with a win.

Pretty open race and one who looks primed for a big performance is five year old Wonder. Strong recently form including two runs at this course and form this year reads 212. Remains on a very workable mark after only going up a 1lb after the close second last time and looks a big danger today. Has a strong draw from stall 2 to race in preferred position and has a good apprentice aboard in Taryn Langley. Yard going very well at the moment and often do well at this track and would be no surprise to see Wonder go in here today.

This looks a weaker race than he contested last time, and from a plum draw in stall 2, Global Warning should be able to adopt a handy position. With plenty of Lingfield experience and a capable jockey aboard, this looks a big opportunity to return to winning ways.

Big Stage is still searching for a first win over fences, but headgear applied last time appeared to spark improvement. A drop back in trip looks the right move, and conditions today should suit far better than some recent assignments.

He represents a powerful Elliott yard in excellent form, and the booking of Sean Bowen catches the eye. Notably, Bowen and Elliott boast a remarkable 63% strike rate together at Ayr, making Big Stage a very strong contender in an open-looking race.

Epicetus

Former Group 3 winner Epicetus may not operate at that level anymore, but he remains well handicapped for races of this nature. A close third at Wolverhampton last time suggests he’s still in good heart, and today’s inside draw in stall 1 is a major positive.

Epicetus is happiest when allowed to dictate from the front, and if he gets an uncontested lead here, he could prove very hard to reel in. Yard and jockey are both in good form, and this looks a prime opportunity.
