Reason for Tip

Six year old who has proven rather consistent and has shown promise in some big races including when winning Listed race lto at Chepstow when surging clear of Doyen Quest. Still rather low mileage and further improvement isn’t unlikely. Runs over ideal distance again today and whilst there is questions over the ground, has proved somewhat versatile thus far so she may take that in her stride. Represents a yard on a hot streak and who have found their form this year and hard to discount them here. Top jockey Jack Kennedy aboard who is a man in form also and the yard and jockey share a 35% strikerate when combining here at Clonmel. Lots to like and Speculatrix looks the likely winner.

Three-year-old Hit Squad made a very eye-catching debut when finishing 2nd at Kempton back in April — behind none other than Cosmic Year, who went on to finish runner-up in the Irish 2000 Guineas. That’s top-class form in the book.

He returns after a break but represents a yard that’s strong with horses fresh, and he’s open to plenty of improvement here on his second start. This looks a weak maiden and, on paper, Hit Squad should take all the beating. With Oisin Murphytaking the ride, it’s hard not to be confident.

Relatively low mileage three year old from the Walker yard who has been consistent in defeat, albeit disappointingly for the most part with form of 42435. However there is a couple of positives here today, he is on a very lowly mark now and can outrun this weight. His best performance was also here at this track back in June this year when going down a close second so the return here may spark something a bit more. Represents a top yard with a good record here and has an experienced and talented jockey aboard in Mr Mulrennan. Capable of winning a race of this nature off this mark and so expecting better than what the market suggests here today.

Veteran Stroll On By returns to fences and has been knocking on the door in similar company. He’s a reliable type with a solid record here at Worcester, including a close second over this very course and distance last summer.

Now off a tempting mark and partnered again by Lily Pinchin, who knows him well, this looks a very winnable race. Her red-hot 57% fortnightly strike rate is another big positive. If he jumps fluently, expect him to be staying on strongly in the finish.

Pretty wide open race here and one with a good shout on form is Ed Walker trained Charlotte Corday who has only ran twice and looks a highly progressive type from what we’ve seen thus far. 7th on debut at Pontefract before improving very sharply to finish 3rd in a warm maiden at Leicester on last start. Third start today and looks likely to put in a big run in a race that is full of similarly unexposed types. Represents a shrewd and inform yard and has a top booking in Shoemark to do the steering. Yard has a good record here and of the six times Kieren Shoemark has ridden a Walker trained horse here, they’ve won 2 of them which is a very respectable win rate. Major player.

op weight Dunskay is a somewhat versatile type who’s form is peaking with creditable third places in last two starts over hurdles and yard have decided to change it up here and send this six year old on seasonal chase debut today. Despite being top weight, has contested much hotter races than this including the Class 1 listed NHF at Ascot back in December 2023. Has only ran four times since then and remains rather low mileage and unexposed, particularly over fences. There is some risks attached due to being so unexposed in this discipline but he’s clear of these on ratings by a mile and both yard and jockey have a good chase record and good course form so there is lots to like and Dunskay may prove too strong for this field.

Two year old who won here back in August and was closer than the fifth suggests here two starts ago. Looked to thrive when upped to 1m2f last time out at Newcastle and despite winning nicely, looked to have plenty spare and so the 5lb rise might not be enough to stop Captain Bruce from winning again over that trip here at Chelmsford, a course he enjoys. Alex Jary retains the ride here today. This isn’t an overly strong race and most of the field can be discounted and of the rest, Captain Bruce is taken to follow up the win lto with another here today. Great chance.

Small field handicap here at Southwell in the 8pm and Savvy Stellar looks the one to beat really. The short priced favourite whilst winning comfortably last time out, has gone up a whopping 7lb and that looks enough to curtail further progress really. On the contrary, Savvy Stellar won quite nicely too and has gone up for that win too, but the ever shrewd Woods yard have booked top apprentice Jack Callan today who has a 5lb apprentice claim and as a result this three year old is actually 3lb lower today which puts this boy on a very tempting mark for a quickfire double. Yard and jockey both in very fine form and Savvy Stellar is taken to turn over the short priced fav and get the job done today.
