Reason for Tip

Six year old who finally got off the mark lto after a couple of close calls and did so in fine style at Taunton. Entitled to kick on for that win despite a 7lb rise and I don’t think we’ve seen the best of this youngster just yet. Runs the same trip here in very similar ground conditions and in this field looks very capable of producing another winning run. Makes course debut at WIncanton today but is in good hands with inform Dylan Johnston aboard and he pairs well with Mulholland horses at this course and has won over 30% of runs here for the yard. Walkinthepresent remains open to further progress and 7lb doesn’t look enough following the 5.5l easy victory at Taunton lto. Likely winner.

⭐ NAP of the Day

Walkinthepresent looks the standout selection on Wednesday’s card and gets the vote as the NAP of the Day. The six-year-old finally got off the mark last time out at Taunton after a couple of close calls and did so in impressive fashion, winning by 5.5 lengths.

He has been hit with a 7lb rise for that victory, but he still looks well treated based on that performance, and there is likely more improvement to come. He runs over the same trip today under very similar ground conditions, which is another big positive.

Although this is his first run at Wincanton, he looks to have a very strong chance in this field, and Dylan Johnston has an excellent record when riding for the Mulholland yard at this track, with a strike rate of over 30% when teaming up here.

Everything suggests Walkinthepresent can follow up and he looks the most solid winner on the card.

Reason for Tip

Short priced fave in this has a 10lb hike to overcome and looks vulnerable and a horse who’s looking quite well handicapped and on the verge of a big run is nine year old Byron Hill from the Neville yard. Has been consistent of late with form of 3434 this year including a run here lto over 2m1f. Goes back up in trip to 2m3f today which looks the right decision, needs a little longer so that’s a positive today. Mark continued to drop following lto and now off a mark of 98 and goes in a 0-100 rated race today is more than capable of a bold showing at this level. Well below highest winning mark and yard have a 32% strikerate at this course and are in fine form currently too. Joe Williamson booked for the ride isn’t the most inspiring booking but he does at least have a decent record at this track. Plenty of positives today and has a chance at a place or better here.

🎯 Dark Horse

The Dark Horse selection for Wednesday is Byron Hill, who looks well handicapped and capable of running a big race at a price.

He has been very consistent this year with form figures of 3434, including a solid run at this course last time out over 2m1f. The step back up in trip to 2m3f looks like the right move and should suit him better.

His mark has continued to drop and he now runs off 98 in a 0–100 race, which gives him a real chance at this level. The yard has a very strong 32% strike rate at this course and comes into the race in good form, which is another big positive.

At 10/1, Byron Hill looks overpriced and could easily run into the places at the very least, with a win not out of the question in a race like this.

Reason for Tip

Has shown the makings of a solid chaser since making chase debut in November at Southwell and form since reads 21P3. Struggled last time at Wincanton in January but can be forgiven for that as bounced back lto at Hereford when third when losing a hind shoe. Returns to Wincanton today in a pretty weak looking race and yard have reached for the cheekpieces today which should help this six year old. Likely to stay the trip as usually runs this distance and won over this trip at Hereford. The good ground is suited and yard have a good chasing record at this course. Golan Loop remains open to further chase progress and this looks a well picked race from the shrewd stable. James Bowen was aboard Golan Loop when he won at Hereford in nice style and returns to the saddle today. Big chance today.

Reason for Tip

Has been a big regressive in bumpers after posting a strong second place on debut at Bangor back in April last year. Had been off for a while when making return run at Huntingdon at the start of March and so can be forgiven for needing the run. Makes hurdle debut today over a slightly longer trip and that looks to be a positive change. Ran his best race over slightly further than 2 miles and on pedigree it all looks well suited. Race is there for taking, and Hay Max has the services of a top jockey in Danny McMenamin who is riding well and has a good record here. Hay Max is taken to get the job first time over the obstacles at a nice price.

Briery Butterfly might be 0-9 over hurdles but has been knocking on the door since handicapping and hasn’t finished worse than third in last four starts. A win looks imminent and today’s race looks a very strong chance. Ran over an ideal distance on suited ground in by all accounts a pretty weak looking affair right through the betting. This race won’t take a great deal of winning and she is in good hands for course debut at Southwell with Stan Sheppard booked as he has a good record at the course and has won aboard a Daly trained horse not that long ago round here. Continued improvement needs to happen, but looks likely and race looks hers for the taking.

Reason for Tip

Very progressive in first three starts when last seen as a two year old. Had the makings of a decent three year old and looks very likely to be heavily involved here on handicap debut. Goes back up to 7f which is likely the preferred trip on pedigree and enters handicaps on a very lenient mark which looks likely to be taken advantage of today. Ed Walker yard are a strong yard in a bit of a slump at the moment but they do have a solid course record and there’s lots to like about Storm Point today and so could be the winner they probably need. Shoemark returns to the saddle which is a positive and he’s riding well at the moment. Storm Point should take some beating today.

Lucky 15 Analysis

Golan Loop has shown solid progress over fences this season and can be forgiven for his previous Wincanton run. He bounced back last time despite losing a hind shoe and now returns to a weak race with cheekpieces applied, which could bring further improvement.

Hay Max makes his hurdle debut today and the step up in trip looks a positive based on his bumper form. He likely needed the run last time after a break and has a strong jockey booked in Danny McMenamin, who has a good record at this track.

Briery Butterfly may still be a maiden over hurdles but has been knocking on the door since handicapping and hasn’t finished outside the top three in her last four runs. This looks a weak race and a big opportunity to get her head in front.

Storm Point looks a very interesting runner on handicap debut. He showed plenty of promise as a two-year-old and now steps up to 7f, which looks ideal. He enters handicaps on what looks like a lenient mark and could take advantage.
