Reason for Tip

Thrice raced youngster out of the Tate yard who goes handicapping for the first time today. This isn’t a strong entry point and she looks ripe for backing up the win lto with another win today. Course debut but has shown plenty of speed which will stand her in good stead here. Open to further progress than most of this field and carries some good form into this race where she may improve beyond some other more exposed horses. The yard are absolutely flying with a fortnightly strikerate north of 40% and Dark Angel Star has Clifford Lee aboard who has a 30% strikerate at the moment. Clifford Lee and James Tate as a partnership are strong and when combining here at Chelmsford, have a quite absurd 67% strikerate. Drawn well and looks quite frankly the winner in waiting for this race. Strong bet.

Haader may have been frustrating to back with two runner-up finishes to his name, but both runs have been full of promise. The form looks strong, and this looks a slightly easier assignment compared to his recent efforts. First-time All-Weather shouldn’t be a problem — he’s related to multiple AW winners — and his breeding suggests he’ll handle it well. He has the best form in the race, represents a top yard in great form, and has Callum Rodriguez aboard, who has an excellent record when teaming up with Bethell. This looks like the ideal opportunity to get off the mark.

Reason for Tip

On first glance the form of 55639 doesn’t inspire lots of confidence but there has been some trouble in running and we’ve seen glimpses of old form such as the third at Hamilton two starts ago. The big factor today is The Gay Blade is now 1lb lower than when touched off over C&D here in May and is very nicely weighted currently thanks to the dropping mark. The Gay Blade was heavily backed lto when disappointing backers and off this mark the money may continue to come as it won’t be long before he wins again. Andrew Mullen is a jockey with a good strikerate at the moment and has ridden plenty of Jardine trained horses to victory. The Gay Blade is primed for a big run today and has a good chance to outrun these generous odds.

This wide-open Class 6 handicap at Brighton could be ripe for a surprise. A Pint Of Bear is a seven-year-old who’s now down to a career-low mark of 52, having previously won off 75. He hasn’t shown much in recent starts on the All-Weather, but the return to Brighton — where he’s a two-time course winner — is a big plus. Apprentice Mikkel Mortensen claims a valuable 5lb and boasts a 25% strike rate at Brighton. From a good draw and with this mark, he could easily outrun his odds. A big price in an open contest and one that could sneak into the places or better.

Two year old from the Tate’s who made debut back in July when finishing 6th at Nottingham. Showed good improvement on second start at Lingfield back in August when coming third in the Class 3 there and although a slight break since that run, is open to much further progression again today. This is a weaker Class 4 and the entries aren’t anything to shout about generally. The Tate yard is in fine form with a 43% fortnightly strikerate and Baileys Ontherocks has a top jockey aboard in Hector Crouch who is also inform and boasts a 38% strikerate here at Bath. Major player and be no surprise to see this one get the job done here.

Highly consistent three year old from the Boughey yard with form of 541122 and has looked better than ever so far this season. Remains on a very workable mark and the only real question mark today is the trip. Both Of Us being sent beyond 2miles here but on breeding and pedigree it’s not necessarily a negative. We have seen nothing but strong performances recently and we can expect another one today. Yard are shrewd and strong and have plenty of success at the track and Both Of Us has the benefit of talented Billy Loughnane for the ride. Big chance.

This nine year old has very strong course form and whilst there has been subpar performances this term, he can’t be written off here today back at Ayr where he so often performs well. He usually runs in higher classes than this and so this drop in class and he is versatile ground wise so should cope with the heavy ground that is forecast here. Has an experienced jockey aboard in Sean Kirrane who knows how to get the job done at this track and Woven has a big chance in this today.
