Taking on the favourite here in this small field Class 5. Jackabi currently heads the market but has failed to get over the line in last two starts with two second place finishes and handicapper seems to have him stalled currently. Luminare is still largely unexposed and has proven ability when winning at Bath in June. Returned after a layoff lto at Chelmsford when finishing third and is likely to be fitter today. Looks to be very well treated and represents a major yard with a 25% strikerate at Newcastle. Cieren Fallon aboard who wins 20% of his rides here and when the two combine here, they share a 44% strikerate which is nothing to be sniffed at. Luminare looks open to plenty of improvement and is taken to get the job done here. 5/2 looks a nice price and wouldn’t surprise me if she was backed in shorter than that. Likely winner.

We’re taking on the favourite Jackabi here, who has finished runner-up on his last two outings and looks to be treading water off this mark.

Luminare, however, is still unexposed and showed clear promise earlier in the year when winning at Bath. Returned from a break last time with a solid third at Chelmsford and is expected to come on sharply for that run.

The statistics are extremely strong:

Haggas has a 25% strike rate at Newcastle.
Fallon wins 20% of his rides here.
Together at this track, they share a huge 44% strike rate.

Given the likely improvement, favourable mark, and elite trainer/jockey combination, Luminare looks exceptionally well placed.

Looks to be a wide open race this Class 6 at Newcastle and one who looks set for a big run is seven year old Our Absent Friends from the Davidson yard. Has won here previously and is now on a very dangerous mark and some middle of the pack form recently. Enjoys this track generally, has a good draw out of stall 4 today and drops in grade. With most popular bookies paying four places looks pretty nailed on for a place today but is definitely not written out of winning this either. Good jockey booking in Jason Hart who is a man in form currently and Our Absent Friends can very much so outrun odds of 9/1 and is fancied to be contesting this. Decent chance.

As a result, handicapper has been kind and Born In The West is on a tempting mark today at a course he generally enjoys and has won here previously. Yard have also called upon Rebecca Hitchen for the ride and she has a 7lb apprentice allowance which only furthers the chances. Trip and ground are suited and this looks his best chance in a while to return to winning ways.

Remains very unexposed, jumps pretty cleanly and should make all the running today. Yard going nicely at this level recently and it would no surprise to see Gatineau Park primed and ready to complete the quickfire double. Thomas Bellamy aboard. Good chance.

Six year old Bobbi With An I from the Tizzard yard has shown ability and is likely to be right there again today. Won nicely here at Wincanton back in January this year before finding a Listed event at Doncaster a bit too tough. Returned for seasonal debut last month and on both starts since return has finished fourth, albeit the latest was in a higher grade over 3miles. Drops back in both grade and trip today which looks ideal and ground is perfect for the horse today. Should be ready and raring to go fitness wise after the two runs so far this season and looks a big danger in this field. Top jockey aboard in Brendan Powell and it would be no shock to see this six year record another Wincanton success in this race.

Four year old Call Glory has struggled a bit in the latter half of this season and form of 04402 reflects that. However, handicapper has eased the mark and we saw signs of life lto at over C&D when a strong second. Has proven ability at this level and best form is much better than current results. The eased mark and return back here look a promising combination for this boy today. Has a wide draw to contend with but some of his best runs have been over the top from the back so the draw isn’t too concerning. Luke Morris aboard for the ride and he has a good record here at the track. Big chance for Call Glory today.
