Notable three year old who was a lofty 750,000gns purchase at the breeze ups and didn’t run a bad race at all when second on debut at Newcastle. Was far clear of third and likely to take a big step forward today on second start. Runs the same trip which looks to be his ideal and has the makings of a strong miler. Currently holds a multitude of group 1 entries and could prove a little too strong for this lot today if the improvement we expect to come does arrive. David Egan is not exactly a jockey in form but these things can change and it could be not much more than a steering job if Domenico is on song today. Posted good figures on debut and is taken to follow up and get the job done today. Likely winner.

Polly Darling looks like a seriously exciting prospect and could be well ahead of the handicapper here.

She showed clear promise on debut at Thirsk last year, winning despite looking green, and is entitled to come on massively for that experience. The Burke yard is renowned for improving these types, and the decision to keep her lightly raced could prove a smart one.

A plum draw in stall 1, strong trainer/jockey combo, and obvious progression angle all point towards one thing — she should simply be too good for this field.

Wide open handicap here in the 4.40 and one who looks a bit of a dark horse is three year old Venetian Romance. Made a strong debut when third at Lingfield in August last year and whilst there was a couple of sub par runs that followed, goes up in trip today and runs in first handicap and both of those are big positives. Buckets of stamina in pedigree and likely to suit the extra distance and is one of the more unexposed types in the race. Has changed yards since last seen and now resides with the Newland & Insole partnership and has a fantastic booking in Rossa Ryan. Rossa is in good form and will give Venetian Romance the run of the race. Improvement needed, but capable of doing it and looks set to outrun the odds of 12/1 at time of writing.

This is a proper value play at Aintree, and Jasko Des Dames looks overpriced.

A strong fifth in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham last time shows he’s still competitive in better races than this. He’s a front-runner who jumps well — two key traits for Aintree — and the flat 2m trip is ideal.

Henry De Bromhead has a solid record in this race, and with a capable jockey onboard, this one could easily outrun odds.

Trappy race of three year old newcomers or three year old with a run or two under their belt and one who is a notable newcomer from the Gosdens. Very nicely bred and related to some strong horses including Hurricane Lane and Frankel’s Storm. Yearling price reflective of that being 850,000gns and represents a yard who know how to ready their debutants. Ok draw in stall 5, this trip on pedigree is bang on the money and this could be a race Tornado Tower takes handily if going well first time of asking. Tyler Heard aboard isn’t overly inspiring and he’s probably overdue a winner but does however have an ok record at this course. Always tricky tipping up a newcomer but Tornado Flyer has the makings of a horse who could take this in his stride.

Three year old North Force is one of the most unexposed horses in the race with only two starts and has been progressive in both of them both in form and at the figures. Was second of nine lto at Redcar and that’s more impressive given he lost so much ground at the start when hampered out the gates. Remains open to plenty of further progression and whilst this is a step up today, looks more than capable of producing a big run. 7f trip seems ideal from the runs we’ve seen so far and the good ground is suited. This bot is very nicely bred and could improve beyond the field here. Plum draw in stall 2 and represents a shrewd operation. Big chance today.

Top weight Confinetic has struggled a bit off increased mark since winning back in February but as a result is now back on last winning mark. Small field race here at a track that will suit on ground that’s ideal. Will stay the trip, was fifth in a valuable Class 3 at Ascot two starts ago and that was a much hotter race than this one today and Confinetic is not without chance here and needs to be taken seriously. The short priced favourite has been creeping up the weights and looks vulnerable and Confinetic looks primed for a big run today. Tom Cannon aboard is a good booking he has a good record here and there’s plenty of positives about the chances today. Major Player.

Progressive three year old with form of 321 and won handily at Newcastle lto. Not seen since and so does have the break to contend with but represents a yard with a good record on returning horses and so likely to be primed for this. Step back up to 6f shouldn’t pose any concerns and neither should the return to turf. First two runs we on turf and acted fine on it. Open to plenty of further progression now handicapping and this looks a more than fair opening mark for handicap debut. From a top yard and has a great jockey in Shoemark. Stable and jockey historically combine here at this course successfully and so Hallo Spaceboy is taken to follow up with another win.
