Pretty tame looking race here in the 3.50 at Lingfield and of the newcomers declared, Silent Strike looks a nice looking youngster from the Balding yard. Expensive and nicely bred colt who’s related to some talented horses. Yard know how to ready their youngsters and as mentioned before, this isn’t exactly a hot race he’s making his debut in. Has a plum draw in stall 1 and whilst there is risks attached to any debutant, there has already been money down on Silent Strike and it’s likely to keep coming. Great jockey aboard in Callum Hutchinson and both yard and jockey have a good record here, including when paired together. Wouldn’t take a great deal to win this race, and Silent Strike may just prove too good for the rest of them. Looks a likely winner on paper.

A pretty ordinary-looking race on paper and one that looks there for the taking by Silent Strike, a nicely bred and expensive Balding colt making his debut. The yard are excellent with newcomers and wouldn’t send one here unless ready to run.

A plum draw in stall 1 is a big help at Lingfield, and early market support suggests a big run is expected. With Callum Hutchinson booked and no standout opposition, Silent Strike looks capable of making a winning start.

NAP verdict: Looks the class act on debut and could take plenty of beating.

Reason for Tip

Eight year old President Scottie has not been over hurdles for a little while and whilst has performed creditably in his chasing exploits, the return to hurdles looks a positive move and based on the old hurdling form from 2024, he’s very well handicapped for this return to this discipline. Proven stayer and will see out the trip with no difficulty. Forecast ground of soft is ideal for this eight year old and has only ran twice following a decent break of 7 months or so. Fitness should be back to it’s peak and this race looks a winnable one. Good jockey aboard in Danny McMenamin and it would be no surprise at all to see President Scottie run a big race today at a course generally enjoyed. Very capable of out running the current odds of 15/2 and could win this.

Lightly raced mare who showed plenty of promise in bumpers before a long absence. Makes her hurdling debut today over a trip and on ground that should suit, and the booking of Brian Hughes is a big positive. The layoff is the obvious risk, but she’s unexposed, from a yard that can ready one fresh, and 7/1 looks generous in a race lacking depth. Worth a serious look for value players.

Sagonige is an interesting runner here today at Ayr as hasn’t been seen since April of 2024. Only raced twice and made winning debut in a bumper at Sedgefield and ran another cracker when last seen over 660 days ago when second at Musselburgh. Makes long overdue hurdling debut today over a trip that should suit to a tee and on ground she has won on previously. The obvious question mark is the break, needs to go well fresh to take this but trainer has a good record with horses on the return and so can’t be written out of this. Made a very promising start to her career did Sagonige and she’s very interesting if resuming progress upon her return. Has the benefit of a top jumps jockey in Brian Hughes and 7/1 looks a nice price for this mare to get the job done today.

Progressive three year old from the Hannon yard with form of 621 and looked a very nice young prospect when winning lto over C&D on third start. First handicap today off a somewhat strong mark but remains very much open to further progression and would be no surprise if he can defy this opening mark. Ok draw from stall 6 and this flat mile seems to be his preferred trip currently. Yard have a good record here and whilst there is one Boughey horse ahead of Space Invasion in the market, Space Invasion is much more unexposed and could improve beyond this field today. Joe Leavy gets the ride and he enjoys regular success for the Hannons. Big chance.

Talented but at times inconsistent ten year old who won this race last year but was then pulled up when last seen at Leicester in February. Hasn’t been seen since and so does have the long break to contend with but has gone well fresh before so can’t be discounted on that alone. Generally runs well here at this track and will be fine over the trip and on heavy ground, prefers it soft/heavy and it was heavy ground when he won this race last year. Represents a major yard and has a decent apprentice aboard in Lucas Murphy. Lots to like and would be no surprise to win this for the second year on the trot.

Five year old Stanley Spencer is no stranger to winning on the all weather and has amassed four wins on the surface so far in his career. Remains on a very workable mark and wasn’t far away at all two starts ago when a short second at Southwell. Below par run lto earlier this month can be forgiven and he’s the type to bounce right back which he’s done numerous times so far. Great draw in stall 3 and likes to take a prominent position early which he will be able too from this draw. If given an easy time of things up front may take some stopping today. From a strong and shrewd yard and has the services of Hector Crouch aboard who’s a man in red hot form and has good history here. Looks a very likely winner.
