Reason for Tip

Two year old American Flight has looked much more at home and impressive in handicaps and finish a closed second at Chelmsford earlier last month before stamping authority last time out at Kempton when winning very comfortably. Handicapper has left his mark with a 6lb rise however the ever shrewd Boughey yard has enlisted top apprentice Jack Callan for the ride here and his 5lb apprentice claim effectively offsets the handicappers rise. Looks very dangerous off basically an unchanged mark for a horse so young whos likely not done improving. Three horse race today and American Flight looks open to the most progress and looks the winner in waiting.

American Flight has really taken off since entering handicaps, finishing a close second at Chelmsford before bolting up at Kempton with a convincing, authoritative performance. The handicapper has responded with a 6lb rise, but the Boughey team have cleverly booked top apprentice Jack Callan, whose 5lb claim practically cancels that out.

This is a small three-runner race, and American Flight looks the one with the most scope for improvement. Strong form on the AW, a shrewd yard in red-hot touch, and a very lenient effective mark make him the clear standout. If progressing again, he should take this.

Loaded and Locked made £80,000 after showing promise in Irish points (form F21) and looked every inch a smart recruit when winning comfortably on his stable debut at Worcester. Today he switches to hurdles, where further improvement is almost certain.

Soft ground looks ideal based on his Irish form, and he boasts a strong pedigree for staying trips. This is a competitive race with several unexposed types, but Loaded and Locked showed enough class to suggest he can outrun his price. With J J Burke booked and clear progression likely, he’s a very appealing outsider.

1) Age Of Time – 11.10 Lingfield (5/2)

Returned from a short break with a strong second at Kempton before winning impressively at Wolverhampton. Progressive, lightly raced on the AW (2 wins from 5), and has a dream draw in stall 2. With David Egan riding Lingfield extremely well, he looks the one they all must beat.

2) Getmetothemoon – 2.10 Wincanton (11/4)

Inconsistent at times but produced a career-best last run when winning a higher-class race. Down in grade today and back on preferred good ground. A 3lb rise doesn’t harm her chances and she arrives with strong claims for a stable in form.

3) Borderline Madness – 5.30 Southwell (15/2)

A consistent performer with two wins since July. Last run can be forgiven after traffic issues, and this race is weaker. Runs best when breaking well and racing handy — Jack Mitchell, who won on her two starts ago, is back in the saddle. Excellent each-way value.

4) Paddy’s Day – 5.45 Newcastle (9/2)

Ignore the recent figures: he’s a Newcastle specialist. Five C&D wins this year including the Gosforth Park Cup off just 1lb lower. Back at his favourite track, well drawn, and partnered by a good apprentice. Big chance of returning to winning ways.
