He showed immense promise on his second start in November, bolting up to win a Newcastle maiden by an impressive seven lengths. Although he returns from a 221 day absence tomorrow, he represents the elite yard of William Haggas, which is currently operating at a stellar 21% strike rate. With world class jockey Tom Marquand booked to ride, connections clearly expect a bold showing. He has to carry a penalty for his previous victory, but he possesses clear star quality and remains the standout class horse in this nine runner Class 3 field. Sharp Move is a very exciting prospect who looks poised to resume his progress with a dominant performance over this trip.

Krissy has been in excellent form since November, with recent figures reading 121, and arrives here following a dominant front-running win at Wolverhampton. She runs over the same trip again today in what looks a weaker race on paper.

A key positive is her draw in stall 3, which should allow her to get out quickly and dictate matters from the front — a style that clearly suits her. Lauren Young takes off a valuable 5lb and has a strong record riding for this yard, further enhancing Krissy’s already attractive profile.

Off a mark of just 54, Krissy looks the standout on the card and is taken to make all once again.

This unexposed 3yo gelding, by Showcasing, is a fascinating contender as he makes his handicap debut in the Class 4 Try Unibet’s New Smartview Racecards Handicap. He put together a highly consistent sequence in the spring, finishing a close second on all three of his All-Weather starts at Newcastle and Wolverhampton. You can safely draw a line through his latest run on soft turf at Chester, as the testing ground was clearly against him. Reverting to his preferred All-Weather surface tomorrow, he should find conditions much more to his liking. Running off an opening mark of 77, he remains completely unexposed on polytrack and represents the powerhouse stable of Charlie Johnston. With veteran jockey Pat Cosgrave in the saddle, Showcasing Star has excellent prospects of bouncing back to form and looks ready to make a major impact on his handicap debut at a big price too.

Enpassant has found life tougher since a productive spell last season, but his current mark now looks far more workable. He’s only 3lb above his last winning rating and showed signs of a return to form last time out when fifth in a bunched finish here at Southwell.

He drops back into Class 6 company today, which immediately makes him more competitive, and the race itself looks weak. While the yard and jockey are currently short of winners, those runs don’t last forever, and Enpassant is more than capable of outrunning big odds.

At 16/1, he looks a cracking place shout and shouldn’t be ruled out of winning altogether.

Tomorrow, he tackles the Danny O’Neill Birthday ‘Confined’ Maiden Stakes over a staying distance of one mile and four furlongs. In a small five-runner field, his class and proven stamina are major assets. Ridden by Andrew Mullen, Alfred Wincham looks to have a highly promising future on the Flat and stands out as a strong contender to make it two wins from two career starts in what appears to be a very winnable Class 3 contest.

Port Erin is a previous winner at Ffos Las and is now dropped back down to a very attractive mark. She proved her versatility last time out on June 4 by running a superb second of ten over seven furlongs on Good to Firm turf at Wetherby, only beaten by a neck. Although she faces a challenging widest draw in stall 14 on her Polytrack debut tomorrow, her current sharp form and proven ability at this level make her a serious threat. Back on an artificial surface under jockey Dylan Hogan, who knows her well, Michael Herrington’s filly has all the right credentials to overcome the draw and deliver a highly competitive and positive performance in this contest.

Drawn well in stall 3 and remaining on a workable mark, the main question is the drop back in trip, but he has plenty of early pace and should cope just fine. A big run is expected in a wide-open contest.

Magna showed dramatic improvement last time out when dropped to 6f for the first time, winning well after failing to score in 14 previous attempts over longer trips. That switch clearly unlocked improvement.

He remains unexposed over sprint distances and has the early speed to overcome a wider draw. Representing a solid yard and with Neil Callan again aboard, Magna looks capable of following up in a modest-looking race.

Ziggy’s Triton

Ziggy’s Triton is chasing a Southwell hat-trick after two impressive wins here, including defying a 10lb rise last time out when scoring again with something still left in hand.

He’s been hit with another 5lb rise, but the manner of his recent victories suggests there may still be more to come. Drawn well in stall 4 and with Mark Winn aboard, Ziggy’s Triton is taken to defy the handicap once again.

Queen Sansa remains a maiden after ten starts, but that has allowed her mark to drop to a very tempting level. She showed clear promise last time out when finishing a close second at Lingfield, suggesting a win is not far away.

This looks a weak race, the trip suits well, and she has previously shown ability at Southwell. Jack Dace’s 5lb claim is another positive, and Queen Sansa looks a major contender to finally get her head in front.
