Slightly higher than usual priced NAPs but that’s because the two ahead of this one in the market don’t look quite so promising as Turty Tree. Gosden trained 3yo debutant heads the market and whilst nicely bred, looks vulnerable in this field and the Gosden’s have a terrible record at Newbury. Glory Of The Seas from the Varian stable is a nice looking Sea The Stars Colt who i don’t think wants this sharper trick and again represents a yard with an awful course record and is returning from an absence. Turty Tree is primed and fit after running last month and form of 2-3 so far in warm races is not a bad thing. Has shown elements of being green but the experience of those two runs only helps and looks set for a big run today. Looks an ideal trip on good ground and from a yard who won this race last year and also have a very successful time at this track generally. James Doyle aboard is a strong booking and there’s been no shortage of wins when this combination come together. Turty Tree looks nailed on for a big run whilst there’s question marks over the others and has a good chance of bringing home a nicely priced NAP. Major player.

Sparkling Duke has really found his feet of late, winning two of his last three starts, both of which came at this course. One win was over 2m4f and the other over 3m, so today’s 2m7f trip looks absolutely ideal.

He’s been hit with a 7lb rise for his latest success, but that win was achieved with plenty in hand and he still looks capable of defying the handicapper. Conditions hold no fears and the booking of Ben Jones, who has an excellent record at Ffos Las and is riding at the top of his game, is a big positive.

If reproducing anything like his latest run, Sparkling Duke looks the most likely winner on the card.

Reason for Tip

Largely consistent type who came on for the application of cheekpieces last summer when winning over the mile at Ffos Las. Not far away on subsequent starts with form of 342. Returns from absence since August today but does act fresh and shouldn’t be too many cobwebs to blow away today. Well drawn in stall 6, drops back to 7f which isn’t an obvious positive as has been running at 1m2f recently but has looked a little stretched and on the interval timings, a sharper test may suit. Needs to be quick out the blocks and take up a prominent position and if that comes to fruition, may be tough to peg back under a strong ride from Mulrennan who knows how to get the job done at this track. Also represents the trainer who won this race last year and who are currently running at a 21% fortnightly strikerate, no small feat for a smaller yard. Chance.

Shorten Sassy is yet to get his head in front, but his recent run at Hereford suggested he’s heading the right way. He finished a respectable third last time out and now runs off 1lb lower, with a further 7lb taken off thanks to Murray Dodd’s apprentice allowance.

That leaves him looking very well treated on adjusted figures. He stays the trip well, is generally sound over his obstacles, and the Rowley yard are operating at a 20% strike-rate over the last fortnight, which is solid for a smaller operation.

At a price, Shorten Sassy could finally get off the mark and looks a big each-way player.

Alsakib was running creditably but without success at the tail end of last year. Yard opted for a wind op and it paid dividends as this six year old went on to win in fine style at Musselburgh lto despite saddle slipping and looks a major player today despite penalty. This race isn’t overly warm looking and conditions are well suited for Alsakib. Represents a yard in fine form and has a good jockey aboard in Theo Gillard who has equally found plenty of winners of late. Alsakib remains open to further progress on second start post wind op and looks a very likely winner here.

Seven year old Tellherthename moved trainers to the Skeltons prior to lto and was sent straight into the County Hurdle at Cheltenham and finished 12th of 23. Didn’t enjoy the cleanest of runs that day and looks like there will be plenty more to offer as a result of residing with Dan Skelton. Has contested numerous Grade 1s and is capable of a big run and today at Ayr looks a possibility. Will appreciate the soft ground and the slightly sharper trip is a positive. Yard and jockey both in good form and both have very strong records at Ayr at around 30% strikerate. Tellherthename was perhaps a little disappointing lto but there’s a good chance we see a much different run today and looks a big player.

Very consistent and highly profitable four year old from the Owen yard who is 5 wins from 6 runs over 7f and was very close to winning over the mile lto when going down a nose. 1lb better off today and has shown nothing that would lead us to believe won’t run another big race. Trip and ground are both fine, one of the most consistent types in the race and further progress still highly likely. Yard don’t have a great record here but they do have a fantastic record generally when Harry Davies is aboard. Harry also very much in form at the moment and is a strong booking. Would not be a surprise to see Rogue Diplomat go in again today.

Most unexposed horse in the field with only three starts to his name and makes handicap debut today in a very winnable looking race. Was not disgraced in first two starts but came on nicely lto in October when second to a smart type and is open to plenty of further progress today now handicapping. Has been gelded during the break and that should also assist this youngster in settling. Only real question mark is freshness but yard have a decent win rate with horses returning from a break of 60+ days and so not an obvious negative. Rather weak looking handicap and Influential is taken to exploit that. Big chance.

🍀 Lucky 15 Tips Today

Galivanted

1.45 Huntingdon – 7/2

Jockey: Paul O’Brien

Lightly raced and progressive over hurdles, Galivanted has shown promise in both starts over obstacles. After finishing fourth at Ludlow, he took a nice step forward to win at Musselburgh last time out over 2m.

Today’s trip at Huntingdon is very similar and the forecast good to soft ground should suit, having already proven effective on it. While the market favourite Thewoodcorner commands respect, these conditions look ideal for Galivanted.

Derham’s yard are flying, Paul O’Brien retains the ride, and the trainer–jockey combination boasts outstanding strike-rates at this track. Everything points to a big run.

Uptown Dandy

2.30 Ffos Las – 11/4

Jockey: Ben Jones

Uptown Dandy remains largely unexposed over hurdles, with just three starts to his name. He finished second in both of his first two runs in decent novice company before making an error and being pulled up last time out.

That run can be forgiven, and today he drops into a weaker Class 4, back over the trip that suited him earlier in the season. Heavy ground is forecast and should be no issue, having shown promise on testing surfaces in bumpers.

From a strong yard and with Ben Jones booked, Uptown Dandy looks well placed to bounce back if error-free.

Snapius

4.15 Huntingdon – 6/1
Trainer: James Owen
Jockey: Alex Chadwick

Snapius has found life tougher since his mark increased, but recent signs have been more encouraging. He finished second last time out after dropping in class and now runs 3lb below the mark he won off in December 2024.

He remains in the same grade today, which is a positive, and this looks an open race. The Owen yard have a solid record at Huntingdon, and when combined with Alex Chadwick here, they’ve struck at 29% over the past two years.

Well treated and competitive at this level, Snapius should be firmly in the mix.

Francky Blue

4.30 Ffos Las – 4/1

Jockey: Conor Ring

Francky Blue’s form figures don’t immediately catch the eye, but context is important. His previous runs came in stronger company, and today’s handicap debut looks far more realistic off what appears a workable opening mark.

He’s likely to be ridden positively, heavy ground should suit on pedigree, and his better runs have come on left-handed tracks, which is another plus at Ffos Las.

While yard and jockey form isn’t red-hot, Francky Blue is well worth consideration in this weaker contest.
