Very lightly raced three year old who made a sensational start to career when winning the Group 3 Priory Belle Stakes at Leopardstown in March on only second start. Send to the Curragh for the 1000 Guineas lto in May and didn’t fair as well that day when running too keenly and getting worked up beforehand. However, this three old has proven ability and will be contesting the big races for years to come and this could quite frankly be a run out after five months off that results in a comfy win. There isn’t much in this field today that hold a candle to Swelter’s flame and if going well fresh and running even close to best form so far should be a win. If there’s any progression, it will be an easy win. Colin Keane aboard who loves it here at Naas and that’s only a further positive to Swelters case.

A highly promising three-year-old from the Weld yard who looked top class when winning the Group 3 Priory Belle Stakes at Leopardstown on just her second start earlier this year. Things didn’t quite go to plan in the Irish 1000 Guineas at The Curragh last time when she ran too keenly, but she’s been given a break and returns looking to make a statement.

Swelter’s proven form at Group level stands head and shoulders above this field, and with top jockey Colin Keane aboard — who boasts an excellent record at Naas — she looks the one to beat. The drop in grade and ideal trip make this a perfect reappearance opportunity.

Pretty wide open race this 4.47 at Goodwood over the mile and one that stands out as a bit of a dark horse is Principality from the Harry Eustace yard. He has mixed form and isn’t the most straightforward at times but one thing of note is last time he ran at Goodwood over the mile he won nicely and the mile is definitely his preferred trip which he gets again today. Ground looks ideal and there is plenty of early speed in this line up which should work well for this three year old who is likely to sit just behind the pace in midfield and break strongly in the closing stages. Top jockey aboard in Kieren Shoemark and would be no shock to see Principality run into the places at a big price and with a bit of luck is capable of winning this today.

A tricky mile handicap at Goodwood, but Principality looks a live outsider at a big price. The three-year-old has mixed form on paper but crucially has won over this trip and course before, and returns to the same conditions that brought his best performance to date.

With strong pace expected up front, Principality should get the perfect setup to stalk and pounce late. Kieren Shoemark takes the ride — a top jockey who has been in fine recent form — and this horse looks very capable of running into the places or even snatching the win with a bit of luck.

Small field race here in the 2pm at Naas and bar the two principles, nothing looks overly threatening. Out of the two major players in the field the one that stands out is Strike Zone, a progressive two year old who has only ran twice so far and remains more unexposed than his counterpart Savile Row. Strike Zone looked brilliant when finishing second to Charles Fort at Cork lto and is taken to come on again here today. Represents an inform yard and has top jockey Colin Keane aboard for the ride. Likely to be a clear battle for the win between Strike Zone and Savile Row and from what we’ve seen from the pair so far, Strike Zone the likely victor.

Wide open race here in this Class 4 handicap. Full of two year olds, some with quite a few runs under their belt and some rather still unexposed. One of the unexposed ones that looks promising is the Portman trained Twilight Glow. Didn’t fair all that well in first two starts but they were in Class 2’s and looked a different proposition when dropped into Class 4 maiden company lto when finishing a close second. Being one of the more unexposed horses in the race he is likely to come on quite a bit here on Handicap debut and enters on a very workable mark. Very well drawn and has plenty of speed to get out quickly and positioned well and hopefully experienced and talented Rob Hornby can steer this boy to victory at what is a rather generous price.

Island Hopping is aptly named considering she as at Longchamp last weekend and has hopped back over to the emerald isle for this Class 1 at Naas. She has shown much promise so far including a third in the irish Oaks and a creditable second in the Group 3 Give Thanks Stakes at Cork in August. Didn’t fair too well at Longchamp lto but excuses can be made because she was sent further than ideal at 1m6f. Drops back to ideal distance of 1m4f today and she looks a major threat in this field today. Island Hopping has a very strong draw, represents one of the biggest yards in the game who are in fine form and has a top jockey aboard in Mr Lordan. Looks the likely winner.

Just Keep Flying is the most unexposed horse in the field with only two starts and she has shown lots of ability already with a winning debut at Goodwood before a close second lto at Kempton. She is open to lots of further improvement on this handicap debut and her form is right up there with some of the best in the field. Ground and trip are both fine and she is from the inform Gosden yard with one of the worlds best aboard in Oisin Murphy. Both yard and jockey have fine records here and when combining here at Goodwood can be a force to reckoned with at times. It would be no surprise to see Just Keep Flying cruise to victory today.
