Trained by the ever succesful William Haggas and ridden by Tom Marquand, a partnership currently operating at a formidable strike rate, this three-year-old son of New Bay possesses a pedigree that suggests he is significantly better than his current handicap mark. He is from the elite family of Group 1 winners Creative Force and Persuasive, a lineage that points toward a high-class future. After a juvenile campaign that yielded two victories from four starts, he was gelded over the winter. That decision appeared to pay immediate dividends on his seasonal reappearance at Newmarket last month. He produced a career-best performance to finish a narrow second, beaten only a neck after traveling very nicely. He remains on a very workable mark of 81, and the switch to the sharper turf track at Lingfield should suit his high cruising speed. With that comeback run having sharpened his fitness, he is going to be very tough to beat here.

Hardys Hero looks the standout selection on today’s card and is confidently taken as Saturday’s NAP of the Day. Trained by the ever-successful William Haggas and partnered by Tom Marquand, this three-year-old son of New Bay looks very well treated off his current mark.

After winning twice as a juvenile, Hardys Hero returned with a career-best effort at Newmarket last month when narrowly beaten by just a neck after travelling strongly throughout the race. That comeback run suggested there is still plenty more to come this season.

The sharper Lingfield track should suit his running style perfectly, and with race fitness now on his side, this looks an ideal opportunity to get back into the winners enclosure. Haggas runners continue to perform strongly and the stable-jockey combination remains one of the most dangerous in racing.
