Lots of money came for this youngster on debut and the result was disappointing. However shook that greenness off on second start lto when finishing 2nd in quite a hotly contested Goodwood maiden. The experience is helping and further progress is likely. Small field Class 4 for this two year old today and looks the pick of the lot. Represents a powerful stable and has experienced Paul Mulrennan aboard who has a great record here. Only runner from the Walker yard making the trip to Hamilton and we’ve seen this before. He doesn’t often send them to this track, but out of the 7 runners he has done in the last two years, two have been successful and that’s a solid strikerate. Passing Thought looks the winner in waiting.

Today’s small-field Class 4 looks far easier, and his profile suggests there’s plenty of improvement still to come. Paul Mulrennan is a superb booking at Hamilton, and Ed Walker doesn’t send many here — but when he does, they often go close. Looks the day’s most likely winner.

Experienced seven year old who’s had a slow start to the year with form of 43725 and as a result of that his mark has dropped to a very encouraging number. Won four times last summer and has more than enough ability to win these races off a good mark, and we might be there. Last two starts have been encouraging with a 3rd and a 4th and we are likely seeing a bit of a resurgence here off the lower mark. Yard in good form and experienced jockey aboard. Quite a big field here this step up slightly in trip could be favourable for this older boy. Outside chance, with a few things going his way he can have a big say.

This seven-year-old hasn’t quite found top gear this season, but the handicapper has finally relented, dropping him to a very workable mark. Live outsider at double-figure odds.

Three year old who’s form has been mixed recently with best form coming on turf with the third at Doncaster two starts ago. Down in field lto on the AW and so the return to turf today is a positive. This isn’t a strong race and she has the advantage of Tom Kiely-Marshall’s 3lb apprentice allowance today which is quite a big swing at this level. Tom is also a man in form with a 25% strikerate in the last fortnight. Also has a good course record with 3 wins from 9 runs. Yard going brilliantly also and so lots of things pointing in the right direction for this youngster today and looks a major player.

Two year old filly who has shown promise on four starts so far and has been largely progressive. Ran well lto coming third at Wolverhampton and likely to build on that today. Further progression almost guaranteed and this looks a great chance to get her first win. Trip and ground are fine and represents a strong yard in decent form and has Callum Rodriguez for the steering who is in brilliant form at the moment winning more than 1 in 4 of his rides. Great chance.

Eight year old from the Jardine yard who has not been in the greatest form this year but we did see a spark at Wolverhampton two starts ago and he retains potential and ability. Has won twice over C&D and some of the recent runs can be discounted on firmer ground than he wants. Back to ideal ground today (soft) and that may bring out the best in Never Dark which we haven’t seen recently. Alex Jary aboard who takes off a very handy 5lb and that is also a big factor today compared to recent runs. Relatively weak race and Never Dark can capitalise on that. Looks a threat.

Four year old with a eleven starts under her belt and whilst that first win has remained elusive, has ran well in defeat on many occasions and a win is round the corner, possibly today. On a very good mark here and had been highly progressive recently until some trouble in running lto which can be forgiven. She’s must better than that form and will play a leading role here today. Has a top jockey aboard in Kieren Shoemark and has more than enough ability to take a race of this nature. Has the plum draw, early speed should get her prominent and positioned nicely for hopefully running out the victor.
