Reason for Tip

Four year old Vivre Le Reve has yet to run on British soil and his only start so far was in France at Lyon Parilly when scoring in rather nice fashion. Looks a promising sort and that race was only back in November. Since joined the Pauling yard who are having an exceptional year so far and finding winner after winner and will no doubt have prepped this youngster well for this. Trip is fine and ground is well suited, debut was won on heavy so the forecast soft even if further rain arrives is no problem. Field of young unexposed types but Vivre Le Reve looks to have stacks of ability and is capable of progression again beyond this lot. Ben Jones aboard who is a very talented jockey and has proven time and again this season that he’s one of the top riders around at the moment. Plenty to like and it looks like Vivre Le Reve’s race.

⭐ NAP of the Day

Mountain Molly makes her chasing debut here and looks very well treated for this first start over fences. The six-year-old won her first point-to-point and has continued to progress nicely under Rules, showing further improvement this season with a win and a second on her two runs back.

This looks a sensible entry point into chasing and the yard appear keen to get her going in this discipline, which is always a positive sign. Trip and ground are ideal and she’s the only runner in the field without prior chasing experience, suggesting there could be plenty more to come. If taking to fences as expected, she should prove very hard to beat.

Unexposed chaser, progressive hurdling form, ideal conditions, and a well-chosen starting point over fences.

Wide open large field handicap here at Huntingdon and plenty of bookies paying 5 places and there’s plenty of nice prices and one who looks a bit of a dark horse is seven year old Escapologist from the James Owen yard. Not been since May, and was a little regressive since picking up a novice this time last year, however does have ability and remains pretty unexposed. Represents a very good yard and Alex Chadwick returns aboard with his 3lb apprentice allowance. Does have the break to contend with, but the Owen’s have a very stellar 26% strikerate with horses returning from breaks of 60 days or more so Escapologist will likely be primed and ready. Has good form in deeper races than this and would be dangerous to write off his chances. Even a place at this price is a nice return but could even do one better than that.

Love Your Work – 7.30 Wolverhampton (12/1)

Love Your Work is a seasoned nine-year-old with 14 career wins to his name and remains capable at this level. His form prior to last time out read an impressive 1-4-2-1, and the seventh-place finish last time can be forgiven after the experiment with new headgear, which is now removed.

He remains on a workable mark, has a favourable draw in what looks a wide-open contest, and K T O’Neill takes the ride. As top weight, he’s clearly respected by the handicapper and 12/1 looks generous based on previous form. A bounce-back performance would be no surprise.

Why he’s the Dark Horse:
Well treated, headgear removed, strong historical form, and overpriced in an open race.

Relatively open affair here in the opener at Southwell and one who looks set for another big run is four year old Thecoffeepoddotco from the Hannon yard. Has been hitting the crossbar recently with a trio of second place finishes and remains on a mark she can win from. This isn’t a strong entry point for handicap debut and for this 5f race she has a plum draw from stall 1. Yard going along nicely and do pretty well with their horses at this track. Alec Voikhansky aboard for the ride and this young filly is more than capable of producing a winning run today.

Despite being a now nine year old, Benign Dictator is rather lightly raced for that age and remains capable of winning performances. Decent hurdler with form of 1420 since November 2023 and when sent beyond 3 miles for the first time lto at Warwick, won nicely. Yard have opted for that further trip again today and whilst this boy has gone up from the win, he looked really good last time and defying the rise certainly isn’t an impossibility. Has only had two runs since returning from a long break and so should be fully fit and primed today. Represents a shrewd and successful yard who know how to win and has a solid booking in Joshua Bryan. 6/1 looks a nice price, and has a good chance.

Arc Zoosve from the King yard has been enjoying things of late with two wins in last three starts and looks capable of continuing the good run of the form. Drops in trip slightly today which should pose no problems and has ran well here previously at Southwell. For a smaller yard, the King’s are doing brilliantly recently and it would not be a surprise to see Arc Zoosve further that. One ahead of him in the market at the moment who is on a four timer but due to the rise have opted for inexperienced apprentice to offset the rise and looks beatable. Richard Havlin is aboard Arc Zoosve and he is a strong jockey who knows how to win here at Southwell. Major player.

Tribal Wisdom has been nothing short of consistent dating back quite a while. Form currently reads 1411433 and this seven year old is still on a mark he can win from. Trip is his usual range and whilst he has a wide draw, has done his best work from the mid to rear of the pack and that tactic likely employed again here today, one that can work nicely at Newcastle. Likely to sit slightly off the pace and come over the top at the close to contest the win. Ian Williams enjoying a fine spell as a trainer currently and a big positive for Tribal Wisdom today is having Hector Crouch aboard, very strong jockey here at Newcastle and has a good record for the Williams stable. Looks to have a good chance today.

A Kingman foal from the Beckett yard who made a very promising debut last month at Southwell, finishing second after staying on well. That was a highly credible first run and significant improvement is expected on his second career start.

He does have a wider draw to overcome, but over the mile there should be enough time to secure a good position. He represents a top yard, boasts some of the strongest form in the race, and has an excellent jockey booked. In a fairly open contest, The Stone Power looks a major player with progress likely.

National Question – 1.38 Musselburgh (6/1)

Jockey: Charlie Maggs (5lb claim)

National Question has looked better than ever this season, winning on seasonal debut at Newcastle before finishing a close second last time out at Sedgefield. That latest run came on softer ground than ideal, making the performance even more encouraging.

Conditions look much more suitable today with slightly firmer ground, and any further drying would be a big positive as all three of his career wins have come on good going. The 5lb apprentice allowance only strengthens his claims and this looks a well-spotted opportunity in an open Class 5.

My Boy Harry – 2.00 Lingfield (9/2)

My Boy Harry boasts solid course form, having won here back in October, and arrives in good heart. He was only narrowly beaten last time out over this track and trip and runs off the same mark today, which is encouraging.

Drawn in stall 5, he should get a good position and this looks a slightly weaker race than the one he was beaten in last time. With Pat Cosgrave booked, he looks a serious contender once again.

Lady Of Arabia – 6.30 Wolverhampton (9/2)

Lady Of Arabia had been knocking firmly on the door over a straight mile, finishing third on four consecutive starts. A slight step up in trip combined with a change of headgear brought immediate improvement last time out, resulting in a well-earned win.

She’s gone up 4lb for that success but still looks well treated over this distance, particularly with the headgear retained. The yard are in decent form and Billy Loughnane keeps the ride. There could be more to come at this trip.
