Reason for Tip

Decent hurdler who switched to the fences two starts ago and seems to be relishing the chance. Third on chase debut before taking the win nicely lto at Newcastle. Question mark over the increased trip length as tends to do best around the straight 2 miles but the Todhunter stable can be shrewd at times and frankly there has seemed to be stuff left in the tank last time out when winning. Remains unexposed and open to progress in this discipline and looks a major player in this race today. Forecasted ground of good to soft which is fine however hopefully any further rain holds off as the softer it gets the less ideal for Powerofjet. Good jockey aboard in Callum Bewley this race looks very much a great opportunity for this seven year old to complete a chase double. Looks the winner.

Two-year-old Return Of The Gods was a £350,000 yearling and showed serious promise on debut here at Wolverhampton when finishing a close third in a big field. The Bethell yard’s youngsters often take a big step forward on their second start, and he looks perfectly placed to do just that tonight.

This isn’t a strong race — the main threats look limited — and the track experience will be a major plus. Rodriguez retains the ride and boasts a strong 20% win rate when combining with the Bethells at this course. Everything looks set for him to deliver on that expensive price tag and get off the mark here.

The 3.08 here has a shorty at the head of the market who is currently 8/11 at time of writing and that horse bids for a hattrick here but does have a 6lb penalty to overcome. Looks opposable, particularly at those odds and three year old Chilliconcarneigh looks a nice bit of value at 9/1. Has been consistent in defeat of late with a 2nd two starts ago and close third lto over C&D. Has an ok draw here over usual trip and stable have opted for the visor to keepo this youngster a little more focused on what lies ahead as has been a little easily distracted at times. Has shown ability at this level and certainly isn’t written off today. Great jockey booking in Sean Levey and whilst further improvement is needed to overthrow the shorty, it’s not implausible and Chilliconcarneigh has a reasonable chance here.

Four year old who was rather out of sorts with previous yard and form read 0064 before making the switch. Ran a great race on first start for the Evans yard when 2nd in a warm race at Kempton a week ago and looks primed for another big run today. This isn’t a particularly strong race and Knightmare is drawn well in stall 2 and has the benefit of an apprentice with a 7lb allowance. Has been progressive of late both in results and at the figures and a win looks imminent, and this race is a good chance. Yard in good form for a smaller operation and is stringing wins together, lots to like today for this youngsters chances.

Pretty trappy race of first timers or second starters but one who looks an appealing type is Luna Fox from the Honeyball stable. Yard have a good record in bumpers and know how to ready them so we can likely expect a relatively strong run here on debut from Luna Lux. Nicely bred youngster who should be absolutely fine over this trip on pedigree and has the services of a good jockey in Sam Twiston-Davies. On paper it won’t take a great deal to win this and Luna Lux looks a very likely winner.

Despite being 9, Zoran has plenty of ability and a very good record here at Kempton, has won twice at this track and whilst 6th last time here at Kempton looks average on paper, it was a much warmer Class 2 and this is a much easier affair. First time in a Class 5 on the flat for a while and this is definitely winnable and within range for Zoran. Yard ticking along nicely and Oisin Murphy booked for the ride is a big positive, he has a fantastic record here at Kempton. Does have a wide draw but shouldnt pose much of an issue over 1m7f. Bounce back win definitely achievable today in this grade.

Von Dutch is a very nicely bred youngster who fetched a healthy six figure sum as a yearling and frankly on first three starts, has been a little underwhelming albeit progressive. Very green on debut but things have settled and the third lto at Wolverhampton was a positive run, particularly given that was a class 3 and now enters handicaps on a very low mark in a weak race. Has a plum draw in stall 1, should relish the trip and likely to fulfil promise soon and the positive last run is encouraging that it is today. Rowan Scott aboard for a trainer he has a good record with and Von Dutch looks a major player on handicap debut here.
