Hattrick seeing Seven Fires looks the one to beat today but looking at this line up; shes going to be tough to beat. Very much inform and won with plenty in hand lto at Southwell on handicap debut. Was a smart win as handicapper only raised her a 1lb and she looks very much well in still. Goes back up to 6f today which is of no concern and shes still very low mileage and so further progression off this mark looks almost a certainty. George Bass aboard and Seven Fires has shown no reason why she wont run another big race. 9/4 looks generous and wouldnt surprise me if that shortens before the off. Hattrick very much on, likely winner.

Engross (4.52 Leicester) – 6/5

Engross looks one of the standout bets on the card today and gets the nod as our NAP of the Day.

The progressive sort from the Fanshawe yard returned with a win on handicap debut at Chelmsford last time out, and the 4lb rise looks very fair given how comfortably he got the job done. His form now reads 7741, and there’s every reason to believe there’s more to come.

Today marks his turf debut, but on pedigree, there’s no concern switching surfaces. Conditions look ideal, and with Daniel Muscutt booked, who has a strong record for the yard, everything points towards another big run.

Still lightly raced and improving — Engross looks the one to beat.

Asmeralda is one of the most unexposed horses in this race with only one run so far. That debut was at Kempton before Christmas and won nicely. Beautifully bred Night of Thunder filly who is potentially a very nice horse in the making. Will be fine off the break and both trip and ground are suitable. Well drawn in stall 4 and represents a yard who’ve won this six times including last year. Oisin Murphy booking is notable and he has a good record for the Gosdens. This filly has a big chance today and a rather nice price too. Should be heavily involved and certainly not written out of winning this.

🎯 Dark Horse

Toyotomi (7.00 Newcastle) – 9/1

If you’re looking for an outsider horse racing tip, Toyotomi is the one to keep an eye on.

This low-mileage 5-year-old from the O’Meara yard showed plenty of ability last season, including runs at Listed level, and wasn’t far away when last seen at Goodwood. Now gelded and returning fresh, he could have plenty more to offer.

He’s drawn well in stall 4, the yard has a strong record at Newcastle, and Daniel Tudhope in the saddle only adds confidence.

In what looks a wide-open race, Toyotomi has the profile to outrun his odds and get involved late.

Very sub par and uncharacteristic run when last seen in October and is taken to bounce back on seasonal reappearance and stable debut today at a track he enjoys. Goes well fresh and has the benefit of Oisin Murphy aboard today. Lots to like and a very good chance.

Winner of this race last year when it was at Cheltenham and makes his defence of the title off 1lb lower today following a string of lesser runs. The 11th place at Cheltenham in the plate lto can be ignored. Was running on very strongly until badly hampered by a faller. Was looking every bit in with a chance that day and is taken to continue that today. Conditions are well suited and represents a top yard in fantastic form. Stable jockey Harry aboard is always a plus and he has a good record here. Major player.

Five year old with form of 03215 who remains on a workable mark and returns to turf today after a winter on the AW. Has posted best efforts on the all weather but is very unexposed on grass and ran well at Redcar last August when third. Is fully fit and primed for a big run today and this largely consistent five year old is taken to be heavily involved once again. Cam Hardie gets the ride and he has a strong record for the yard. Lots to like.

Pretty open race here in the 6.30 and one who looks very much on for a big performance is four year old Shipshape from the Llewelyns. Might be 0-7 but thrived when sent up in trip to 1m6f lto at Wolverhampton. Second that day and yard have seemed to find this horses ideal trip. Gets the same trip today and is unexposed at these longer distances so further improvement highly likely. Great booking in Muscutt and Shipshape looks more than capable of putting in a winning performance today in this race.
