Reason for Tip

Modest form in maidens of 7458 but came on leaps and bounds once handicapping and got up to win with relative ease lto at Fontwell. Handicapper has hit this youngster with a 6lb rise and that doesn’t look enough to curtail another big run here. Remains very unexposed and is open to any amount of progress. Runs the same trip as the win lto and has ran twice at this course previously so does have some experience at this course. From a strong yard who are in good form and has a good apprentice aboard in Freddie Robson who also has a 5lb allowance. Mr Griffiths looks the one to beat but looking at this lineup, not sure he will be. Big chance for the double.

Mr Griffiths showed little in maidens but absolutely bolted up on handicap debut last time out at Fontwell. The handicapper has reacted with a 6lb rise, but that still looks very manageable, especially with Freddie Robson’s 5lb claim offsetting most of it.

He remains very lightly raced and open to plenty of improvement. This is a similar test to last time and he looks the one they all have to beat — a confident NAP.

Good record on the AW for previous yard the Burkes (3-5) however has struggled on recent starts for new yard and form since is 97. However, both of those runs were at Chelmsford and they were both in warmer races than this. Drops in class today and whilst a bounce back to form is required, this looks a pretty ideal race for that opportunity. Has a good jockey booking in Sean Levey and Bystander isn’t the only horse with question marks over them today. However, this six year old can run well and is capable of doing so and the return to a track he’s enjoyed previously might just spark that. Has a chance at a nice price in this.

Bystander has struggled since switching yards, but both recent runs came at Chelmsford in stronger races than this. Today he drops in class and returns to a track he’s enjoyed in the past.

The booking of Sean Levey catches the eye and with plenty of rivals having question marks, Bystander could easily bounce back to form. At 9/1, he looks a cracking value play and one who could easily outrun his odds.

Hattrick seeking Esperti has been a different horse since switched to fences and has 3 wins from 9 runs in the discipline. Won nicely again lto at Fontwell and has only gone up 3lb for that. Sean Bowen booked for the ride today which is easily worth at least 3lb and so Esperti looks to be well treated still. Has good course form including a win here two starts ago and this race looks very winnable on ground that will suit him to a tee. Remains open to further progress over fences and the slight drop in trip today from lto is no concern, has won over this trip previously and will likely take up a prominent position and will be hard to peg back if given a free ride up top. Big chance.

Seven year old Mountain Mike has been progressive and impressive on his first three starts and form reads 221. Looked much more fluid over the hurdles lto at Ffos Las on second start and is open to plenty further improvement. Whilst this represents a step up in class, Mountain Mike is the most unexposed horse in the field and his ceiling is definitely unknown at the moment. This looks a reasonable entry point to handicaps and he has a decent apprentice aboard in Luke Scott who takes off 3lb with his claim. Further improvement required in order to get the job done here, but that’s not at all implausible and so a chance is taken on Mountain Mike getting the job done today on handicap debut.

Reason for Tip

Inconsistent at times and form of 48703 since April 2025 only affirms that. However, the third lto was best run over hurdles so far and he looked more fluid over the obstacles and more settled which is a big positive. On his flat ability, a race of this nature should be more than winnable and after seeing the change in performance lto, it could well be today in what is a rather ordinary looking handicap. Soft ground is suited and the trip is within usual firing range. Farrell retains the ride and he is running well at the moment with a 21% strikerate. Good chance.

Five year old The Caribbean has strung together two strong runs recently which is a big positive compared to his previous performances. Won nicely at Wolverhampton in December before finishing a not distant third lto in January. Remains open to further progress and is on a very workable mark still it seems. Drawn wide again today but has ran well from the outside stalls and has a very good jockey aboard in Billy Loughnane who has the talent and ability to get this boy well positioned at the break. This race looks very winnable and Billy has a very strong track record at this course so The Caribbean is in good hands here and looks a big player.

🍀 Lucky 15 Tips Today

Esperti – 1.52 Ffos Las (5/2)

Esperti has been a revelation since switching to fences and bids for a hattrick today. He won comfortably last time out at Fontwell and has only been nudged up 3lb, which looks lenient given the booking of Sean Bowen — a jockey worth that allowance alone.

He has already won here at Ffos Las, the ground is ideal, and this race looks very winnable. Esperti likes to race prominently and if allowed to dictate, he could prove very hard to pass. A major player once again.

Mountain Mike – 2.44 Exeter (10/3)

Jockey: Luke Scott (3lb claim)

Mountain Mike is still very unexposed, with form figures of 221, and has improved markedly with each start. He looked far more fluent over hurdles last time and now makes his handicap debut, which looks a sensible move.

This is a step up in class, but his profile suggests there’s plenty more to come. Luke Scott’s 3lb claim helps and if Mountain Mike progresses again, he has a serious chance of landing this.

Master Dunraven – 3.52 Ffos Las (3/1)

Jockey: C O’Farrell

Inconsistent on paper, but the third place last time out was his best effort over hurdles to date. He looked more settled and fluent, which is encouraging.

Based on his Flat ability, a race like this should be well within reach. The ground and trip are ideal, and with O’Farrell riding well at present, Master Dunraven looks capable of building on that improved run.

The Caribbean – 4.58 Southwell (6/1)

The Caribbean has turned a corner recently with two strong runs, including a win at Wolverhampton and a solid third last time out. He still looks fairly treated by the handicapper and remains open to further improvement.

Drawn wide again, but that hasn’t stopped him before, and Billy Loughnane is a big positive around Southwell. This race looks very winnable and The Caribbean rates a strong each-way leg for the Lucky 15.
