Reason for Tip

Thrice raced five year old from the Honeyball stable with form of 510. Won nicely in Class 2 at Sandown on second start back in Feb this year before being sent to a Grade 2 at Aintree lto in April and finding things a little tough. Proven ability and likely to still be progressive. Does return from a long absence here and some horses just don’t seem to cope with it but the Honeyball yard do know how to ready them and have a decent strikerate with horses returning from breaks so Crackerjacque should be in decent nick for this today. Drops right back to a Class 4 here on seasonal debut and he could prove just too good for this field, even if not fully tuned up. Represents a yard in great form with a respected and inform jockey aboard in Rex Dingle. Crackerjacque should win this.

Unexposed two-year-old colt from the Easterby yard who has shown improvement with each run so far. Third on debut before chasing home a comfortable winner lto and that looks solid form in this weaker race. Steps up slightly in trip which looks ideal, and with the yard’s fine record here and a confident David Allan aboard, he should have too much class for this field. Looks the standout pick and should be winning.

Reason for Tip

Pretty open race here in the 2.20 and the bookies are paying 4 places as it stands. Market has already seen some money for Torneo who’s into 8s from 11/1. Torneo is a consistent type who generally gives a very good run, but did fall on final run last year at Ayr. Returned this year at Wetherby when running very nicely and jumping well to finish second. Torneo is versatile to the ground and has won on soft before back in January this year so the soft tacky ground we are likely to see here shouldn’t be an issue for him. This boy has lots of ability, is generally quite a clean chaser and will no doubt be involved here today. Yard are having a fantastic time of things at the moment and top jockey aboard Torneo today in Gavin Sheehan who has a 26% strikerate whilst riding Snowden trained horses. There is a lot to like about the chances here today and at 8/1 still represents good value and should be running into the places at the very least.

A progressive three-year-old who won well at Doncaster before a slightly disappointing run last time at Ayr over an extended trip. Back to his favoured 7f and expected to strip much fitter today. De Sousa is a strong booking and boasts an excellent record at Newcastle. The draw looks favourable, and with a well-timed run over the top late, he could outrun big odds. Don’t rule him out.
