Reason for Tip

Wootton Bassett colt who rewarded backers on debut at Kempton last month with a battling run to just win come the line. Looked a very capable and determined young colt that day and ability was clear to see. Does have a penalty today but should bounce forward from that run as we so often see from the Appleby horses and could just improve beyond both the penalty and the field in this today. Has a very good draw, one of the best in the business aboard in Mr Buick and this doesn’t look a strong race. Fort Rock is taken to defy the penalty and win again in this, looks the winner in waiting.

Ground and trip are ideal, the stable is firing, and this looks a straightforward option in a tight four-runner Class 3. He sets the standard and should prove too strong if ready — and all signs suggest he will be.

Big field handicap here in the 2.40 at Nottingham and one who looks to have a chance at higher odds is three year old Harswell Ruby from the Fell yard. She has only won once in her 20 starts, however has been knocking on the door of late with form of 25224 and another win looks likely soon. The second two starts ago in a Class 2 at Nottingham is quite strong form and she’s pretty versatile to the ground so should make the running on the forecast heavy ground. Is looking well handicapped and the trip is within ideal range. Kevin Stott aboard today who is a man in form with a fortnightly 24% strikerate along with winning about 1 in 5 rides here at this track which is very respectable also. Few things to like about Harswell Ruby’s chances today and she looks set for another place at a nice place but not ruled out of winning either.

A wide-open Class 3 handicap with place value galore. Vocito boasts 4 hurdle wins and scored at Uttoxeter in July off a mark very similar to today when benefitting from a 7lb claim. He gets that same claim again, effectively only 1lb higher than that win.

Yes, he’s more exposed than some unproven rivals, but experience on testing ground plus a yard operating at 34% strike-rate makes him a serious each-way contender. Quietly underestimated and capable of a big effort.

Why it’s the Dark Horse:
Handicap mark workable, yard flying, conditions suit. Live place chance at a price.

This four year old has been a different horse since wind surgery in June recording five wins including her last two starts. Goes for the hattrick here today and returns to Musselburgh, a course she very much enjoys. Is under a penalty for the win lto but with the form she’s showing i’m not sure she’s quite done yet. Highly respected for the Goldie yard who have a good record here and Paul Mulrennan retains the ride, he has rode Thunderstorm Katie to victory on the last two occasions. Relatively weak race and both ground and trip are suited. Does have the penalty to overcome, but nothing seems impossible recently for this inform filly. Hattrick is possible.

Very open race here full of mainly debutants and those on second start. Beckett yard has three in this and Crownright looks a very nicely bred two year old with some notable relations including Delaware. Trip looks ideal on pedigree and whilst there is a notable Appleby debutant, the Becketts have a good history here and are firing on all cylinders at the moment. In form Hector Crouch gets the ride and when Hector rides a Beckett horse at Kempton, they have a very solid win rate together. Stall 12 isn’t ideal and probably the only major downside but it is a mile race and so plenty of time to take position and if this filly gets out quickly can come across earlier. Lots to like on debut for a yard enjoying a good year with two year olds. Likely winner.

Another debutant here, this time from the Hughes yard. Rajbello is half sister to group 1 winner Tiggy Wiggy and related to other notables such as group 3 winner Masta Plasta. All in all, a very nicely bred two year old who makes debut in a relatively weak Class 4. Hughes yard enjoying a very good year and are running at a 27% strikerate with two year olds on the AW. Finley Marsh aboard is a good booking and stall 5 isn’t all that bad for Rajbello. Plenty to like on paper and looks a major player on debut here today.

Five year old Kelijoe has been running well in defeat in first three hurdle starts in this country and form reads 282. Handicap debut here and looks to be a relatively weak entry point off a tempting mark. Ground is forecasted good which is a positive and trip looks ideal. Yard ticking along quite nicely at the moment and Kelijoe is the only horse they are sending to Chepstow today. Charlie Hammond aboard for the steering and Charlie has a good record for the Edmunds yard. Kelijoe has shown progression and ability and it would be no surprise to see a win here on handicap debut.
