Reason for Tip

Consistent type with form going back to March 2025 of 32323 and this race looks a more suitable affair than some of her recent ones. Forecast ground of soft to heavy is right up her street and her best runs have been on softer ground. This is not a strong race by any means and this eight year old remains nicely handicapped and would not be a shock winner here. Tends to run on the prominent side of things and will stay the trip, is generally clean over the fences. Brian Hughes gets the ride and that’s a big jockey upgrade from recent riders and Brian is enjoying regular success at the moment along with having a good record here at this course. Massive chance and looks the winner.

Velvet Red has not even close to fulfilled potential thus far and form reads 680. Remains very unexposed and this represents her handicap debut today. It isn’t a strong race really and if improving now handicapping is more than capable of putting in a big run. Was an expensive purchase at 185,000 euros and is likely to step forward soon and this looks a pretty decent race for that to happen. Has a wide draw, but not as big of an issue over this 1m3f trip. Previous three runs have all been the straight mile and on pedigree this extra yardage today is a positive and may unlock what this filly should be showing. Rowan Scott gets the ride and whilst there is risks attached, if things click a little on handicap debut over this longer trip, could be a major player and at nice odds.

Shamsat is an intriguing runner here, ex-French flat horse who won in that discipline and has since changed hands back in November and resides with James Owen. First hurdles run today and if taking well to the obstacles, based on flat performances, could be heavily involved today. Will enjoy the soft to heavy forecasted ground and trip is no issue either. Interestingly, the Owen yard have a very strong record with new recruits from other yards and they know how to ready them first time. This isn’t an overly strong race for hurdles debut and has the benefit of a top jockey aboard in Brendan Powell. Lots of potential and 6/1 isn’t a bad price at all. If jumping cleanly, in with a chance.

Has been knocking on the door consistently of late and form reads 22222 since September last year. Didn’t go down far lto when missing out by under half a length and Clover Time has avoided the handicapper and runs off the same mark today. This is on paper a slightly easier race than last time and this mark is clearly workable and a win looks imminent, today looks a fantastic chance. Does have a stall 7 draw but this four year old starts well regularly and so likely to be fine position wise. Robert Havlin aboard again and when Havlin and Appleby team up at this course, they enjoy a 29% strikerate together. Big chance for Clover Time today, and looks a likely winner.

Took a while to get going for this six year old and first win took 15 runs to come, but won well that day two starts ago and ran a strong race lto when third here at this track. Extra furlong in distance today doesn’t look to be a negative and should see out the trip without issue. Mark is clearly still reasonable and would be no surprise to see Lady Henrietta win again today. Sean Bowen retains the ride for the Pauling stable who are having a fantastic year and have enjoyed a 21% strikerate over the last 60 days. Sean will as ever give this mare a fantastic ride and this race particularly looks very winnable. Strong chance.

Four year old Cardinal Point had been denied closely on a number of occasions prior to lto when form read 2222 since November. Finally returned to winning ways over C&D last time a week ago and despite having a 5lb penalty today, is more than capable of going in again. Appeared to be plenty left available to call upon if needed when winning last time and this looks an ideal race to follow up in. Has a fantastic draw in stall 2 to get positioned well early and both yard and jockey have a strong record at this course. Hector Crouch retains the ride after the win last time and will likely employ a similar tactic of sitting middle of the pack before surging on when they break.
