Competition: 3M Open 2025

Date: Thursday 21- Sunday 27 July 2025.

Start Time:

  • USA (ET): Coverage starts from 4:00 p.m. on Thursday & Friday (Golf Channel), and 1:00 p.m. on the weekend (Golf Channel/CBS)

  • UK (BST): First tee times from around 12:45 p.m. | Live coverage begins 9:00 p.m. (Thu–Fri), evening coverage over the weekend

Venue: TPC Twin Cities, Blaine, Minnesota – Par 71 | Approx. 7,431 yards | Water hazards on 15 of 18 holes

This year’s 3M Open comes to you from Minnesota. The TPC course Twin Cities to be exact in what looks like a very competitive field post Open Championships. This is the only venue to have hosted the event since the first one back in 2019 making this its 7th year. Previous champions include Tony Finau and last year’s winner Jhonattan Vegas. This course is playing PAR 71 this week with 7,431 yards of distinctive prairie grasses, wetlands and tree line parkland terrain. Being a big hitter has always been a good play round here with the likes of Finau and DeChambeau hitting low scores around this venue. The weather for the weekend is set to be a nice one so accuracy will be key in hitting FIR and GIR. This is the penultimate event of the PGA calendar and a big chance to bolster Fedex cup points.

Ruoning Yin paying 6 places.

30/1

Reason for Tip

A major winner back in 2023 winning the PGA Ruoning is a big shout for the tournament especially on the back of her T2 place at last year’s open at St Andrews and her ability to combat the course conditions and challenging winds here. Ruoning Yin is currently one of the in-form players on the LPGA Tour. With two major top 5 finishes in 2025, strong links form, and high consistency, she’s a serious contender to win the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl—even though she hasn’t yet claimed that title. Expect her to be near the top of the leaderboard.

Minjee Lee paying 6 places.

16/1

Reason for Tip

Minjee Lee is among the top contenders for the 2025 AIG Women’s Open. With her peak form, three major titles, savvy links play and putting advantage, she is very much in contention to complete the final leg of a career Grand Slam—a feat that would cement her legacy. Fresh off winning the KPMG women’s PGA in June winning her 3rd major, she’s a big player here. She has just recently changed her putter to a broomstick putter and its totally changed her game on fast greens.

Nelly Korda paying 6 places.

9/1

Reason for Tip

Nelly Korda is still among the most formidable players heading into Royal Porthcawl. While her 2025 is winless so far, her statistical dominance, elite long game, and major consistency make her a strong contender. If she can sharpen her putting and maintain her physical health, a breakthrough win at the AIG Women’s Open is entirely within reach. Nelly is an elite ball striker and is leading the way on tour on the tee to green rankings.

Lydia Ko paying 6 places.

33/1

Reason for Tip

Lydia Ko continues to be one of the most formidable contenders at Royal Porthcawl. With her recent win and proven links credentials, she has both pedigree and momentum on her side. While her mid-season results show some inconsistency, the early-season display and past major victories make her a leading candidate to defend her title especially if she regains full stroke-play rhythm and fresh tournament-wide consistency. Big each way chance and definitely one to keep eyes on.

MATT FITZPATRICK paying 8 places.

16/1

Reason for Tip

In some great form of late and will be looking to finish the regular season off in style here. A T4 finish at The Open and a T4 finish at The Genesis makes him our favourite coming into this week. A definite improvement since he began working with coach Mark Blackburn has seen huge improvements, Whilst not a Sedgefield regular keep your eye on Matty the bookies are being generous.

ADAM SCOTT paying 8 places.

45/1

Reason for Tip

Disappointing and missing the cut at Portrush you’d be forgiven for keeping your money in your pocket but that would be a mistake and here is why …  The Open aside, Scott has been on a bit of a resurgence and his ball striking had drastically improved since the beginning of the season,  Adam missed out on this title after missing a short knee knocker 4 years ago and has only played here twice since the last of which saw him share 7th place. Massive price and is a must watch.

BEN GRIFFIN  paying 8 places.

20/1

Reason for Tip

A two time winner on tour this season and consistently finishing high on the leaderboard gives Griffin a great chance here. His driving ability, unbelievable short game and putting stats make him a perfect fit for Sedgefield. His experience and prior history at the course give him an edge over many similarly priced names. Great each way value here.

BUD CAULEY paying 8 places.

55/1

Reason for Tip

A strong contender at TPC Sawgrass earlier in the year Bud has cooled off of late. Big weeks at Harbour Town and 3rd place finish at Colonial could be nice prep for this course. Prior to the two Opens in the UK Bud boasted being inside the top 20 on tour for approach play and this course is perfect for dialling it in close and giving the rest of the field something to think about. Big price and big each way chance.

3M Open Outright Winner Tips

CHRIS GOTTERUP 16 -1 paying 10 places.

Coming here off the back of a 3rd place finish at The Open Championship and also winning the Scottish Open the week before Chris is in fine form coming into this and will be keen to add to his Fedex points and his trophy cabinet. His record around here impervious years doesn’t make good reading (2022 tied 31st and 2024 tied 59th) but he is a different animal this time around and should go well.

JACOB BRIDGEMAN 55-1 paying 10 places.

A little bit out of left field this one but hear me out. Ranking 15th on tour for his putting ability and a 66% GIR average shows his ball striking skills and ability to hole out on the putting surface. Both key features around here and with the predicted warm weather we feel he’s definitely worth a E/W shout.

Can Tony Finau win again?

TONY FINAU  30-1 paying 10 places.

Finau has only finished outside the top 10 once at this course since 2020 and in that time managed to win the tournament in 2023. His iron and wedge play could prove pivotal around here this week, double that up with his course knowledge and knowing how to get it done here he has to be in the conversation come Sunday and is great value at 30s.

WYNDHAM CLARK 22-1 paying 10 places.

A strong finish at The Open Championship at the weekend found Wyndham tied for 4th place. Strong form and his ability to hit long and putt out finds him in the mix this week. We fully expect him to be amongst the places and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him win it. The only thing that could derail this is himself with his temperament a question mark this year.

Course Insights & Suited Styles At TPC Twin Cities

TPC Twin Cities is a bomber-friendly track that rewards length off the tee but demands accuracy with approach shots due to the abundance of water hazards. Fifteen of the eighteen holes feature water in play. The bentgrass greens are large and receptive, favouring confident iron players and solid putters who can capitalise on scoring chances. Historically, aggressive players who take on the risk-reward par 5s and shorter par 4s tend to separate themselves, especially if they avoid big numbers around the water. Players with strong strokes-gained tee to green metrics, especially in driving distance and proximity from 150 to 200 yards, are typically well suited to thrive here. Patience and precision will be key for those looking to stay in contention over the weekend.

🏌️ Tournament History

The 3M Open was first staged in 2019, becoming a full PGA Tour event after previously serving as a Champions Tour stop under the name 3M Championship from 1993 to 2018. The tournament is held at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, a course originally designed by Arnold Palmer with consultation from Minnesota native and former Ryder Cup star Tom Lehman. Known for its scenic layout and numerous water hazards, the course was redesigned to meet PGA Tour standards and quickly gained a reputation as a venue that encourages low scoring and dramatic finishes.

Since its inception, winners have included Matthew Wolff, Tony Finau, Cameron Champ, and Jhonattan Vegas, with most editions producing double-digit under-par winning scores. Despite being one of the newer stops on the calendar, the 3M Open has consistently drawn competitive fields and delivered memorable Sunday shootouts.
