Partnered by the top-tier jockey Rossa Ryan, this unexposed sprinter possesses outstanding credentials and is strongly fancied to make a winning return.

Angel Gabriel makes plenty of appeal on his seasonal return and handicap debut at Newmarket. The son of Mehmas showed plenty of promise as a juvenile, finishing runner-up on his first two starts before getting off the mark at Lingfield in December.

Having been gelded over the winter and given time to strengthen up, he returns off what looks a very workable opening handicap mark of 82. Ralph Beckett’s runners are often well prepared after a break and the booking of Rossa Ryan catches the eye.

With improvement expected as a three-year-old, Angel Gabriel looks the standout selection on Thursday’s card.

Ridden tomorrow by Cieren Fallon, a return to the July Course should play to her strengths. Running off a workable mark of 78, she remains open to significant progression and is widely expected to bounce back in style.
