Scotland - World Cup 2026: Tips, Predictions & Odds

Scotland head to the World Cup 2026 for the first time since France ’98,  a 28-year absence that makes this the most significant moment in Scottish football for a generation. Steve Clarke’s side sealed their place with a stunning qualifying campaign, topping UEFA Group C ahead of Denmark and capping it with a memorable 4–2 win in Copenhagen that had the Tartan Army dreaming.

Group C at the World Cup pairs Scotland with Brazil, Morocco and Haiti. It is a brutal draw on paper,  Brazil are five-time world champions and Morocco reached the semi-finals in 2022, as well as an impressive run to the final in the 2025 AFCON, but the expanded 48-team format means finishing third could still be enough to progress. Scotland are priced at around 250/1 to win the tournament outright, but this squad has a habit of exceeding expectations when written off.

13 June – 20:00 | World Cup 2026 | Group B

Qatar v Switzerland Preview

Qatar national football team are competing in just their second-ever World Cup finals after their 2022 appearance as hosts ended in a group-stage exit.

Julen Lopetegui’s side qualified with a 2-1 victory over the UAE last October, but recent form has been underwhelming. Qatar are winless in six matches heading into the tournament, including a 1-0 defeat to the Republic of Ireland and a 1-1 draw with El Salvador in their final warm-up fixture.

Group B looks wide open alongside Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina, meaning a positive result here would significantly boost Qatar’s hopes of reaching the knockout rounds for the first time in their history.

Standing in their way are Switzerland national football team, one of Europe’s most consistent tournament performers.

This will be Switzerland’s 13th World Cup appearance, and they have reached the round of 16 in each of their last three tournaments. Murat Yakin’s side are difficult to break down and arrive in strong form, losing just one of their last 14 matches in all competitions.

A 4-1 win over Jordan and a 1-1 draw with Australia capped steady preparations, and Switzerland will view this opener as a crucial opportunity to seize early control of the group.

While Qatar claimed a 1-0 friendly victory over Switzerland in 2018, tournament football presents a very different challenge.

Canada v Bosnia-Herzegovina Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

12 June – 20:00 | World Cup 2026 | Toronto

Canada v Bosnia-Herzegovina Preview

The first-ever men’s World Cup match staged on Canadian soil sees Canada national football team take on Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team in Toronto.

Expectations are significantly higher for Jesse Marsch’s side this time around. Canada may have lost all six of their previous World Cup matches, but they arrive at the 2026 tournament unbeaten in eight games and yet to taste defeat this calendar year.

Defensive resilience has been the foundation of that run, with six clean sheets in their last eight matches. Historically, goals have been scarce for Les Rouges at World Cups — just two ever scored — but recent form suggests a more balanced and disciplined unit.

They are also unbeaten in their last six matches against European opposition, a confidence boost ahead of facing Bosnia for the first time.

Bosnia-Herzegovina return to the World Cup for only the second time in their history. Under Sergej Barbarez, they are also riding an eight-game unbeaten run, progressing through the playoffs via penalty shootouts against Italy and Wales.

Zmajevi have tightened up defensively in recent outings, conceding one goal or fewer in six straight matches. However, attacking output has often come late — three of their four historical World Cup goals were scored in the second half.

Both teams bring strong defensive momentum into this Group B encounter, suggesting a potentially cagey opener.

United States Win

Match Result
51/50

Reason for Tip

The opening match of a home World Cup is always significant, and the United States enter Group D under pressure to make a strong start. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are slight favourites according to most predictive models, with home advantage at SoFi Stadium expected to play a key role. The USA have won 12 of their last 20 matches while averaging 2.15 goals scored and just 0.8 conceded per game, highlighting a strong balance between attack and defence. The Americans also defeated Paraguay 2-1 in a recent meeting and possess attacking threats such as Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun capable of deciding tight matches. Paraguay are a disciplined side and qualified impressively from CONMEBOL, but the USA’s stronger squad depth and home support give them the edge.

13 Jun 2:00
United States vs Paraguay - WC 2026

Under 3.5 Goals

Over 3.5 Goals
2/9

Reason for Tip

While the selection allows for up to three goals, the statistical profile of this fixture points towards a relatively controlled opening game. Paraguay’s qualification campaign was built upon defensive organisation, while several analytical previews have highlighted the likelihood of a cagey contest given the pressure on the hosts. One leading preview specifically projects a low-scoring encounter and identifies Under 2.5 Goals as a strong angle. Opening World Cup matches often carry additional tension, particularly for host nations, and neither side is expected to take excessive risks early. A scoreline such as 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 would comfortably land this selection while still fitting the expected game script.

United States vs Paraguay - WC 2026

Over 7.5 Corners

Over 7.5 Corners
8/13

Reason for Tip

The corner line is one of the more appealing selections because it aligns with how the match is expected to unfold. The USA are likely to dominate possession and territory as the home side, using the pace of their wide players and full-backs to create opportunities from crossing situations. Paraguay typically defend compactly and are comfortable conceding territory, which can often lead to sustained attacking pressure and corner accumulation for opponents. With the Americans expected to spend long periods in the attacking third and Paraguay capable of generating corners through counter-attacks and set-piece situations, the game has a strong pathway towards eight or more total corners.

Folarin Balogun 1+ Shots on Target

Player 1+ Shots On Target
4/7

Reason for Tip

Folarin Balogun is expected to lead the line for the United States and remains one of their primary goal threats. Balogun scored 13 Ligue 1 goals for AS Monaco and has also scored three goals in his last five international appearances for the USA. With Pochettino’s system designed to create chances for the central striker, Balogun should receive opportunities against a Paraguay defence likely to spend extended periods without possession. Even in a relatively low-scoring match, a striker of his profile generally requires only one clear opportunity to register a shot on target.

Qatar vs Switzerland - WC 2026

Over 2.5 Goals

Over 2.5 Goals
71/100

Reason for Tip

Switzerland have consistently produced strong attacking numbers against lower-ranked opposition, averaging over two goals per game across their last two qualifying and tournament cycles, while Qatar’s matches have regularly trended toward goals when facing higher-quality opponents. Qatar tend to adopt an expansive approach when playing as underdogs, often creating chances themselves but leaving space defensively. Switzerland possess the technical quality and attacking depth to score multiple goals, while Qatar’s pace on the counter gives them a realistic chance of contributing. In World Cup group-stage football, favourites often push for goal difference, making the over 2.5 goals line particularly appealing.

Over 2.5 Goals

Over 2.5 Goals
10/11

Reason for Tip

The Netherlands remain one of the most attack-minded sides in international football, with their system built around aggressive wing play, high pressing, and sustained possession in the final third. Japan have evolved significantly in recent years and now possess one of Asia’s most dynamic attacking squads, regularly troubling elite opposition through quick transitions and technical midfield play. The Dutch have seen goals in both directions against stronger opponents, while Japan rarely sit deep for prolonged periods. This combination creates the ideal conditions for an open World Cup encounter with multiple scoring opportunities.

15 Jun 17:00
Spain vs Cabo Verde - WC 2026

Over 2.5 Goals

Over 2.5 Goals
19/50

Reason for Tip

Spain’s possession-based approach consistently generates a high volume of chances, and against opposition ranked significantly below them, they often dominate territory and create repeated scoring opportunities. Cabo Verde have developed into a competitive African nation and possess enough athleticism and attacking quality to create moments themselves, particularly if Spain commit numbers forward. Spain’s recent tournament matches against lower-ranked nations have frequently cleared this line on their own, and if Cabo Verde can contribute even a single goal, the over becomes even more attractive.

16 Jun 20:00
France vs Senegal - WC 2026

Over 2.5 Goals

Over 2.5 Goals
10/11

Reason for Tip

France possess one of the deepest attacking squads in world football and continue to average among the highest expected-goals figures at major tournaments. Senegal remain one of Africa’s strongest teams and have enough pace, physicality, and attacking quality to trouble even elite defences. Recent meetings involving France at major competitions have often produced open games because of their willingness to attack aggressively, while Senegal’s transition threat means they are unlikely to simply defend for 90 minutes. With world-class attackers on both sides, this fixture has all the ingredients for goals.

13 Jun 20:00 - Qatar vs Switzerland - WC 2026
13 Jun 20:00
Qatar vs Switzerland - WC 2026

Switzerland Win

Match Result
2/9

Reason for Tip

Switzerland enter this World Cup group-stage fixture with a significantly stronger squad on paper and a proven record of performing consistently at major tournaments. The Swiss have progressed from the group stage at four of the last five major international tournaments and continue to combine defensive organisation with attacking efficiency. Players such as Manuel Akanji and Dan Ndoye provide quality at both ends of the pitch, while Switzerland’s tactical discipline remains one of their biggest strengths.

Qatar have improved since hosting the 2022 World Cup and remain dangerous in transition, but they have generally struggled against higher-ranked European opposition. Switzerland’s superior tournament experience and defensive structure should allow them to control the majority of proceedings.

13 Jun 23:00 - Brazil vs Morocco - WC 2026
13 Jun 23:00
Brazil vs Morocco - WC 2026

Brazil Win

Match Result
71/100

Reason for Tip

Brazil remain one of the favourites to win the 2026 World Cup and possess arguably the deepest attacking squad in the competition. Brazil have lost very few competitive matches over the past two years and continue to generate elite attacking numbers, averaging well over two goals per game across recent international fixtures.

Morocco deserve enormous respect after their historic 2022 World Cup run and have continued to establish themselves among the strongest African nations. However, Brazil’s technical quality, depth, and ability to dominate possession against elite opposition gives them the edge. Morocco are capable of making this competitive, but Brazil’s attacking talent should prove decisive.

14 Jun 5:00 - Australia vs Türkiye - WC 2026
14 Jun 5:00
Australia vs Türkiye - WC 2026

Türkiye Win

Match Result
73/100

Reason for Tip

Türkiye arrive at the tournament with one of the most exciting emerging squads in international football. The Turkish side combines technical midfield quality with pace and creativity in attacking areas, and their recent performances against strong European opposition have demonstrated significant progression.

Australia remain highly competitive and are traditionally difficult to break down at major tournaments, but they often concede possession against technically superior sides. Türkiye’s ability to control midfield and create chances through sustained possession gives them a slight advantage in what should be a closely contested match.

15 Jun 23:00 - Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay - WC 2026
15 Jun 23:00
Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay - WC 2026

Uruguay Win

Match Result
23/50

Reason for Tip

Uruguay continue to possess one of the strongest squads in South America and enter this fixture with genuine ambitions of making a deep World Cup run. Their blend of experienced internationals and younger attacking talent has made them one of the most balanced teams in the tournament.

Saudi Arabia have shown they can compete on the biggest stage, most famously defeating Argentina at the 2022 World Cup, but Uruguay’s intensity, defensive solidity, and attacking quality should give them a clear advantage over 90 minutes. Uruguay’s record against non-elite opposition at major tournaments is also particularly strong.

16 Jun 23:00 - Iraq vs Norway - WC 2026
16 Jun 23:00
Iraq vs Norway - WC 2026

Norway Win

Match Result
1/5

Reason for Tip

Norway arrive at the World Cup with arguably their strongest generation in decades. The presence of elite players such as Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard has transformed Norway into a far more dangerous attacking side, while their qualification campaign demonstrated significant improvement defensively.

Iraq have shown resilience throughout qualification and deserve credit for reaching the tournament, but Norway’s attacking quality and ability to create high-value chances should prove difficult to contain. If Norway perform to their expected level, they should generate enough opportunities to secure all three points.

Scotland's route through the World Cup 2026

Scotland were placed in Group C at the December 2025 draw alongside Brazil, Morocco and Haiti. Steve Clarke’s side begin their campaign with a Sunday morning kick-off UK time, before two evening fixtures later in the group stage.

  • Sun 14 Jun – Haiti v Scotland – 2am BST (Gillette Stadium, Foxborough)
  • Fri 19 Jun – Scotland v Morocco – 11pm BST (Gillette Stadium, Foxborough)
  • Wed 24 Jun – Scotland v Brazil – 11pm BST (Hard Rock Stadium, Miami)

The Haiti opener is the must-win fixture. A strong start puts Scotland in a commanding position to finish at least third, which would likely be enough to progress as one of the best third-placed teams under the expanded format. Morocco are the dangerous second game, the Atlas Lions have tournament pedigree after their 2022 semi-final run, and the Brazil clash on matchday three could be a dead rubber or a decider depending on how the first two results fall.

If Scotland top Group C, a huge ask at 12/1, they would avoid the toughest sides until the quarter-finals. Finishing second or third means an earlier knockout meeting with one of the group winners from the other side of the bracket.

England under Steve Clarke

Steve Clarke has transformed Scottish football since taking the reins in 2019. Back-to-back European Championship qualifications were followed by the crowning achievement, World Cup qualification for the first time in 28 years. His pragmatic, well-organised style has turned Scotland into a side that is genuinely difficult to beat.

Clarke’s preferred system is a 3-5-2 or 3-4-2-1 that allows wing-backs to push high while keeping a solid defensive base. The midfield pivot of Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay has been the heartbeat of the qualifying campaign, and Clarke has shown he can adapt his approach to different opponents, sitting deep and counter-attacking against stronger sides, pressing higher when the situation demands it.

Scotlands Key Players to Back

Scott McTominay

McTominay has been Scotland’s standout performer over the past two years. His runs from midfield, ability to arrive late in the box and eye for goal make him the obvious pick in the Scotland top scorer market at around 150/1 for the Golden Boot. In the group stage, anytime scorer bets against Haiti look the strongest angle.

Andy Robertson

Scotland’s captain and leader on the pitch. Robertson’s deliveries from left wing-back are a primary source of chances for Clarke’s side, making him a strong pick in the assists markets. Set-piece delivery adds another dimension, expect Robertson to be involved in any Scotland goal from a dead ball.

Ché Adams

Adams brings pace and directness that could trouble Haiti and Morocco in transition. His form at Torino in Serie A has added a new dimension to his game, and he is likely to lead the line alongside a partner in Clarke’s system. The anytime scorer market for Adams against Haiti looks particularly appealing.

Where to watch Scotland's World Cup matches in the UK

Every Scotland match at the World Cup 2026 will be shown live on free UK television. The BBC and ITV share rights for the tournament, with STV also broadcasting Scotland’s fixtures in Scotland.

Scotland at the World Cup 2026 - FAQ

When do Scotland play at the World Cup 2026?

Scotland play three group-stage matches: Haiti on Sunday 14 June (2am BST), Morocco on Friday 19 June (11pm BST), and Brazil on Wednesday 24 June (11pm BST). Knockout fixtures depend on group-stage outcomes.

What are Scotland’s odds to win the World Cup 2026?

Scotland are priced at around 250/1 to win the tournament outright across UK bookmakers, reflecting their status as longshots. Their odds to qualify from Group C are considerably shorter at around 2/5.

Where can I watch Scotland’s World Cup 2026 matches in the UK?

Every Scotland match will be shown live on UK television, with the BBC and ITV sharing coverage. STV will also broadcast Scotland’s fixtures. iPlayer, ITVX and the STV Player will stream every match.

Who is Scotland’s likely top scorer at the World Cup 2026?

Scott McTominay is Scotland’s top scorer favourite. His runs from midfield and eye for goal have made him the standout attacking threat in Steve Clarke’s system. Ché Adams and Lyndon Dykes are the next most likely candidates.

Can Scotland qualify from their World Cup 2026 group?

Scotland have a realistic chance of qualifying from Group C. Beating Haiti is essential, and a result against Morocco would put them in a strong position. The expanded format means finishing third could still see them progress as one of the best third-placed teams.
