Eight year old Farasi Lane had been on the losing end for a little while before breaking back through to the winners enclosure lto with a great run at this course. Only received a 4lb penalty for the win and still looks well treated in this company. Drops back into Class 5 company today and likely to be very hard to beat today. Already seen some market support and likely more to follow, this looks a very good opportunity for Farasi Lane to follow up in a very ordinary looking race. Top jockey aboard in Rossa Ryan and he knows as well as anyone how to win at Wolves and Farasi Lane looks a very likely winner.

⭐ NAP of the Day

Farasi Lane looks the standout on Tuesday’s card and rates as the NAP of the Day at Wolverhampton. The eight-year-old had been knocking on the door for a while before finally getting back into the winner’s enclosure last time out with a strong run over course and distance.

He was only given a 4lb penalty for that success and still looks attractively treated against this opposition. Dropping back into Class 5 company looks another major plus, and in what looks a very ordinary race on paper, he should prove extremely hard to beat.

There has already been market support for him and that is no surprise. With Rossa Ryan in the saddle, one of the best riders around Wolverhampton, Farasi Lane looks to have everything in his favour and is the one they all have to beat.

Reason for Tip

Wide open race here in the 4.20 and one who’s looking a little well handicapped is eight year old The Scorpion King from the Signy stable. Had a brilliant year in 2024 and not been seen to best effect since really. However as a result the mark has significantly dropped and saw a return to some form lto at Exeter when third of nine. Runs the same 3 mile trip today on suited ground in a very weak looking race and it would be no surprise to see The Scorpion King run another decent race into the places and is not written out of winning this by any means. Has a fantastic jockey aboard in Ben Jones who has a fantastic record for Oliver Signy and Ben also has a very fine 30% course strikerate. Hard to overlook The Scorpion King today and 10/1 looks very outrunnable. Good chance.

🎯 Dark Horse

For those looking for a bit of value, The Scorpion King makes plenty of appeal as Tuesday’s Dark Horse. This is a weak-looking race and the Oliver Signy-trained runner looks well capable of outrunning his odds.

He enjoyed an excellent 2024 campaign and, while he has not quite hit those same heights since, that has seen his mark drop to a much more tempting level. There were more encouraging signs last time out at Exeter when he finished third of nine, suggesting a return to form may not be far away.

He runs over the same 3-mile trip on suitable ground and gets the assistance of Ben Jones, who has an excellent record for the yard and a very strong 30% strike rate at this course. In a race where few make strong appeal, The Scorpion King looks overpriced and could go very well.

Reason for Tip

Pretty open affair in the opener here at Newcastle and one looks set for a bounce back run is seven year old Snowrocco from the Nicol yard. Completed a double in December and January including a race at this course. Struggled off revised mark at Market Rasen two starts ago when fourth of twelve and then a complete blip from a usually consistent type lto at Musselburgh when last but one. Ground perhaps unsuited that day and that was a Class 2. Drops back slightly in trip today and also drops back to usual Class 4 company which is a positive. Looks a danger back at this level and has good course experience and the ground is very much favourable. Represents a yard in great form and has a good jockey aboard who’s both a good course record and more than healthy strikerate at the moment. Good chance at a nice price.

Seven year old Roses All The Way is still pretty low mileage and has some solid form under her belt from listed bumper form through to her win at Musselburgh two starts ago. Went close again lto at Ayr off an increased mark when second and looks primed to give another good account here today. Slight reduction in trip today which poses no negative and has form at this distance. Ground is favourable and the ever shrewd McCain yard have enlisted apprentice jockey Charlie Maggs today who takes off a very valuable 3lb. Charlie winning around a quarter of his races in the last few weeks and has a stellar record when riding McCain horses at this course. Good chance.

Only three runs since his win at Warwick last March and in last two starts has gone close on both occasions and only went down to a useful in form horse lto. Looking very much still well handicapped and a win off this mark looks inevitable and there’s a good chance it could be today. Returns to a course he ran well at on the only occasion he’s ran here before and the trip is perfectly suited. The win was on good ground and gets pretty similar conditions again today. Top jockey James Bowen retains the ride from last time out and Ceolwulf is in good hands off a likable mark and has a brilliant chance here.

Despite being a now ten year old, Billy Bathgate has shown his ability numerous times still and won four times last year and has not been far out of the frame on all starts this year with form of 44343 in last couple of months. Remains on a workable mark, generally runs a solid race at this course and the slight drop in trip today looks a positive change. Yard have an exceptional record here for a smaller yard with a 26% strikerate in the last 2 years and Oisin Orr is booked for the ride. Strong jockey and no stranger to course success. Billy Bathgate capable of winning this.

Snowrocco looks capable of bouncing back in the opener at Newcastle. He completed a double earlier in the season, including a win at this course, and excuses can be made for his latest run in a stronger Class 2. Back in Class 4 company, on suitable ground and with a yard in form, he looks dangerous.

Roses All The Way has been running consistently well and remains a fairly low-mileage mare with some strong bumper and hurdle form. She won at Musselburgh two starts ago and then followed up with a solid second at Ayr. The slight drop in trip should suit, and Charlie Maggs’ 3lb claim could prove very useful.

Ceolwulf looks a horse whose turn is coming. He has gone close on both recent starts and only found an in-form rival too good last time. He looks well handicapped, returns to a track where he has run well before, and gets ideal conditions. James Bowen retaining the ride is another plus.
