Reason for Tip

Small field race here in the second at Lingfield and the one to beat looks Wisetanck. Went close on three occasions since handicapping before winning in nice style at Wolverhampton lto in a deeper race in a higher grade. Looks a major player on drop back down in grade today having only gone up 3lb. Has course experience, a good draw from stall 2 and i’m almost certain we haven’t seen the ceiling of this youngster yet. Further improvement still highly likely and 3lb rise from the handicapper does not look enough to stop Wisetanck winning again. Yard and jockey both going well at the moment and both have good records at this track. Have won a quarter of races when partnered here and Wisetanck looks set to add those stats. Looks a very likely winner today.

⭐ NAP of the Day

Reel Orange (4.30 Hereford) – 15/8

Reel Orange showed very little for her previous yard, but looked like a completely different horse when making her stable debut for Joe Tizzard last time out at Exeter, finishing second of eleven after a few months off the track. She is likely to come on plenty for that run and should be fitter and sharper today.

This race doesn’t look overly strong and the conditions look ideal once again. There was strong market support for her last time when going down as a beaten favourite, but this looks like a great opportunity to go one better. Brendan Powell keeps the ride and Reel Orange looks the one to beat today.

Reason for Tip

Wide open looking race here and one who looks a little bit of a dark horse on return from a break today is four year old Philanthropist from the Fanshawe yard. Been off for 149 days but goes well fresh and the result of lto is harsher than the sixth place shows. Met considerable trouble in running in the closing stages and looks set for a big run today on return. Has a good record here, won over C&D previously and placed on numerous occasions at this trip last year. Lots to like really and represents a yard in red hot form with a fortnightly 38% strikerate and has a top jockey aboard in Daniel Muscutt who has ridden 26% of his rides at this course from the Fanshawe yard to victory. This price at time of writing looks opposable and very capable of running into place money or better.

🎯 Dark Horse

Rob Roy Macgregor (3.41 Hexham) – 9/1

Rob Roy Macgregor has found some solid form recently with form figures of 242 and looks to be on a very workable mark. He returns to Hexham for the first time since last summer and the conditions today should suit him well.

This looks like a slightly more open race than last time and he should be involved towards the finish. The yard is in excellent form with a 33% strike rate over the last couple of weeks and Patrick Wadge retains the ride. At around 9/1, he looks like a solid each-way angle and could easily outrun his odds.

One of the more experienced runners in the field and whilst some of the younger horses may improve a great deal, they all look vulnerable one way or another. Mixedwave has plenty of chasing experience as well as this course where he won this race last year off this mark. Has shown good performances off late off the lower mark including a second and third in last two starts. Will stay the trip, acts on this ground and looks a major player in this today. Yard have a strong record here, jockey Paul O’Brien is a man in red hot form and he’s no stranger to riding Sly trained horses to victory at Wetherby. Big chance.

Has been progressive in maidens and novices and wasn’t far away lto behind a fairly useful odds on winner. One of the more unexposed types in this line up and this is not a strong entry point on handicap debut. Goes up in trip which on pedigree is favourable and likely more than fine on the forecasted ground of good to soft. Capable of improving now handicapping and looks a danger to the field here under a Freddie Keighley ride. Neither jockey nor stable have many races here at this track in the last couple of years, but Freddie has won 66% of his rides here and the yard are at 40%. Looks a very winnable opening mark and has to be taken seriously here.

Picture of consistency for this four year old this year and form reads 11221 in last five starts. Doesn’t really put a foot wrong and lto was a warmish class 4 and he’s only gone up 2lb so looks pretty well treated still on this drop back in class today. Ok draw from stall 5, has some solid course experience and represents a yard in reasonable enough form. Dylan Hogan back aboard after a couple of rides with different jockey and Dylan has a very solid record at Newcastle and is a good booking. Does need to produce another big run, but looks very capable of doing that and so Dream Illusion is taking to record another win.

Five year old Forglen has form of 61211 since January and has shown no signs of letting up recently. Doing enough each time to get up and win but not by huge margins and so the mark is only going up a little at a time and therefore looks still a major player off the new mark of 57. Wide draw from stall 11 today but no great concerns in a race thats ran over 1m7f and Forglen nearly always sits at the rear and comes over the top in the final furlong. This race doesn’t look overly warm and Forglen arrives in fantastic form from a small yard enjoying plenty of winners at the moment. Ryan Kavanagh retains the ride and the hattrick looks very much on for Forglen today. Likely winner.
