Three year old from the Prescott yard who ran a very encouraging race here back in November on debut when second by a neck to a Gosden newcomer. Was rather green that day and still managed to perform as he did and so progression is pretty guaranteed today. Has a plum draw over stall one and the increase to the flat mile is ideal on pedigree. His form is probably the strongest available and that was his first run, represents a powerful yard with a good jockey aboard in Luke Morris who is no stranger to victory at this track. Should win.

Reason for Tip

Not the simplest of horses to ride and that’s apparent form the form of 34P5U however can be forgiven for the unseating lto and that wasn’t really Aquitaine’s issue, he was very badly hampered which was the cause. As a result of the inconsistency, is now only 2lb higher than when he won this race last year and is capable on the day of putting in a big performance. Trip and ground are fine and has the benefit of a fantastic jockey in Brian Hughes who knows very well how to get the job done here at Newcastle. Does need to bounce back in order to compete but hard to ignore the mark he’s currently on along with his history in this race. Outside chance, but definitely a chance.

Aquitaine Boy is better than his recent form figures suggest and could be underestimated here. He was badly hampered when unseating last time, an incident that can be largely forgiven. Importantly, he now finds himself just 2lb higher than when winning this very race last year.

Trip and ground are ideal and the booking of Brian Hughes is a major positive. While consistency isn’t his strong suit, he’s well handicapped and has a proven record at the track — making him a solid each-way Dark Horse at generous odds.

Major Fortune was a talented hurdler with multiple wins in the discipline but hasn’t really found his feet over fences yet. Has looked sharper recently and things seem to be clicking so looks set for a big run. This is by far his easiest chasing race so far and drops back two classes from the Class 2 lto. Looks very capable of taking a race of this nature and both ground and trip look ideal. Represents a major yard who are in good form and top jockey aboard in stable jockey Harry Skelton. Take the form with a pinch of salt, this a much weaker race and one that Major Fortune can win.

Despite being seven, Zoeman is pretty low mileage and has been knocking on the door so far this season. Third in both starts this campaign and should be fully tuned up today and ready to win a race. This trip is a little further and he is pretty untested generally over the 2m4f so could take to it well and it be a positive for this boy. Pretty versatile ground wise so will perform fine on the forecasted good to soft. Couple ahead of him in the market at time of writing but Zoeman has made a great start so far this year and is taken to keep that rolling and get the job done. Top jockey aboard in J J Burke who is riding very well at the moment and finding plenty of winners. Lots to like.

Remains on a very workable mark and returned to action after 8 months with a very creditable second at Ayr over this trip. Should take a step forward now fitter and looks the pick of the field today. Ground is not a concern and Callum Bewley is the booked jockey. Major player.

Returned from a few months off when winning earlier this month and has only gone up 2lb for that win so looks very capable of landing the Chelmsford hattrick today. Has an ok draw from stall 5, and it remains to be seen where the ceiling is for this boy. Seems to very much enjoy this track and is 3 for 3 here over this trip. Yard ticking along nicely and fantastic jockey aboard in Hector Crouch. Should be able to cope with the small rise after lto and looks to be the one to beat here.
