Lightly raced three year old Crown The Future made handicap debut in November here at Wolverhampton and won with ease and style. Was disappointing lto at Newcastle when sent over further but was likely too soon after the win and has had over a month between this race so should be primed and ready. The return to Wolverhampton is a positive and the drop back in trip should be a positive factor also. This isn’t a strongly fielded race and this three year old has shown ability and looks the pick of the bunch here. Neil Callan was aboard when winning two starts ago and he returns to the saddle today, he’s a strong booking and a man in form. Crown The Future looks set to win this.

Lightly raced three-year-old Crown The Future sets a solid standard in the 7.00 at Wolverhampton and looks a standout betting proposition.

He made a strong impression on handicap debut here in November, winning with ease and plenty in hand. A disappointing effort at Newcastle followed when stepped up in trip, but that run came too soon after his win and over a distance that didn’t play to his strengths.

The return to Wolverhampton, combined with a drop back in trip, looks ideal. This is not a strongly contested race and the booking of Neil Callan, who partnered him to victory previously, is another positive.

Eight year old Rainbow Sign had been running very nicely last year which culminated in a win at Brighton back in September. Was a close second in the race after the win and clearly remains on a very workable mark. Excuses can be made for the two runs since and can be forgiven for those sub par results. Has an ok draw today and is back into classified company here so would be foolish to rule Rainbow Sign out. If running close to previous form last year will be contesting the win today and has an experienced jockey in Pat Cosgrave. Needs to bounce back hence the odds, but is taken to do so and wouldn’t be surprised to see this horse placing or even better today and at nice odds.

At double-figure odds, Rainbow Sign makes plenty of appeal in the 3.10 at Lingfield.

The eight-year-old enjoyed a productive spell last season, highlighted by a win at Brighton followed by a close second, and he remains on a very workable mark based on that form. Two below-par efforts since can be forgiven and he now drops into classified company, which represents a significant ease in grade.

With an experienced jockey in Pat Cosgrave booked and a race lacking depth, it would be no surprise to see Rainbow Sign bounce back to something close to his best.

Why he’s interesting:
✔ Class drop
✔ Well handicapped
✔ Big odds in a weak race

Verdict: Capable of outrunning his price and hitting the frame — or better.

Now an 11 year old, Lightonthewing is a veteran over the obstacles and proved he still has what it takes when winning lto at Wincanton in December. Bar the seasonal return where a run was clearly needed which isn’t unusual in older horses, he is a consistent type who usually runs a solid race. Has a strong chase record of 6 wins from 20 runs and gets the same trip as the win lto here today and on suited ground. Big question mark is the 7lb rise, it’s a good old hike up the weights but has won off much higher marks previously and so could take the rise in his stride. Pretty open race and Lightonthewing looked very good last time and is taken to produce another solid run today.

At times inconsistent in the last 12 months but plenty seemed to click lto over C&D here when winning. Has only gone up 3 for that win and this five year old remains well treated on previous form and is taken to defy that small rise and complete a Lingfield double. Has a fantastic draw in stall 2 and while there is a couple with reasonable form, by and large this is not a strong race and one that looks very winnable for Jackson Street if running close or better to the performance last time. Yard are not having a great time of things at the moment results wise and Paddy Bradley returns to the saddle but the yard form aside, Jackson Street looks to have a good chance at winning again today.

Despite being 8 years old, Bollin Thou is rather low mileage and has been slow to get going. However, has been progressive this year and won in very nice style lto at Uttoxeter on New Years Eve. Has gone up 7lb for that success but has looked better than ever so far this season and who knows where the ceiling lies, likely not this mark given the ease of the win last time. Was pulled up over this longer trip on seasonal debut at Kempton but should cope fine with it now primed and fit. Big positive is the booking, Sean Bowen retains the ride from the win last time and he is one of the best in the business and will give Bollin Thou every chance at winning again here.

Third on debut at Newcastle before improving nicely to win handily at Southwell lto. Course debut at Wolverhampton today but should cause no issues and yard have a good record here. Concedes weight all around today but looks a smart prospect and further progression is far more likely than it isn’t. Despite being one of the most unexperienced, has looked better than this lot already and looks set for another win today with Jason Watson aboard. Likely winner.
