Selenic is a low mileage four year old who is the most unexposed horse in this field by quite a way. Positive debut at Kempton this time last year when going down a short head before sealing the deal nicely on second start in February. Which does mean she has a break to contend with but the Prescott yard have a decent strikerate with horses on breaks of 60 or more days and so Selenic should be readied for this. Goes further than previous runs today but that’s a positive and on pedigree she should relish the extra furlongs. Debut at Southwell today but that should pose no issues. This isn’t a strong handicap and if Selenic goes well fresh today, could win this with relative ease under a positive Luke Morris ride. Looks a very likely winner.

This four year old has been consistently rather disappointing in maidens with form of 666 and gets first run in a handicap today. This race looks wide open and ripe for the picking and this boy is extremely unexposed in a field of largely exposed older horses. This will be his easiest race to date and the Johnston yard have a very good record with first time handicappers and so there is positives about Wadacre Moriarty’s chances today. Stable is a shrewd one and know how to pick a race and this looks a fantastic chance for this boy to progress nicely and change those 6’s to something much better. Great jockey aboard in Callum Shepherd and at 18/1 Wadacre Moriarty would be a nice price if placing here but really isn’t written off winning either. Handicap progression highly likely and very interesting to see how he does today in this race.

Krissy has been in excellent form since November, with recent figures reading 121, and arrives here following a dominant front-running win at Wolverhampton. She runs over the same trip again today in what looks a weaker race on paper.

A key positive is her draw in stall 3, which should allow her to get out quickly and dictate matters from the front — a style that clearly suits her. Lauren Young takes off a valuable 5lb and has a strong record riding for this yard, further enhancing Krissy’s already attractive profile.

Off a mark of just 54, Krissy looks the standout on the card and is taken to make all once again.

Enpassant has found life tougher since a productive spell last season, but his current mark now looks far more workable. He’s only 3lb above his last winning rating and showed signs of a return to form last time out when fifth in a bunched finish here at Southwell.

He drops back into Class 6 company today, which immediately makes him more competitive, and the race itself looks weak. While the yard and jockey are currently short of winners, those runs don’t last forever, and Enpassant is more than capable of outrunning big odds.

At 16/1, he looks a cracking place shout and shouldn’t be ruled out of winning altogether.

Three rather underwhelming maidens with form of 558 before before doing as so many often do and stepping right up on handicap debut to get the job done nicely at Newcastle lto. Runs the same mile trip today here at Wolverhampton on course debut and looks set for another big run here. 2lb better off today with the rival she has in second at Newcastle and not much else in the field is looking quite as promising as Alfa Patisserie with the next in the betting running under a rather stiff 6lb penalty. Further progression highly likely for this filly and looks a like winner under another positive ride from Sean Levey.

Remains on a very workable mark and this is a drop in class today. Last time he ran here in this class he was third and this is a weaker race than that was. Good draw from stall 3 and looks primed for a big run today. Great jockey aboard in Saffie Osborne and Diamondonthehill is in good hands at a course he generally enjoys. Decent chance off this mark.

Went close lto here at Wolverhampton when second in an apprentice handicap and looks one of the ones in this field with a reasonable chance today. The longer trip today is favourable and given how close he went last time, looks to be ready to take a race soon and this looks a great chance. Jack Dace aboard and for an apprentice, he has a good record here at Wolverhampton. Strong performance last time in this class and this boy looks set to produce the same or better today. Big chance to grab the win.

aking on the short priced fav here who is currently 8/11. Berlinetta has only ran on three occasions and whilst the maiden form of 653 is rather ordinary, this is a very weak handicap entry point for a beautifully bred filly who cost over 250,000gns as a yearling. Has a break to contend with, but yard know how to ready them and on breeding should enjoy this track and surface, her sire has a fantastic record at this track. Represents a major yard and has a good jockey aboard in Jason Hart. Handicap progression is often sharp and quick and would be no surprise to see this three year old improve greatly in this weak race from a plum draw out of stall 1. The favourite is a proven winner, but Berlinetta is very much more unexposed and could improve beyond the field here and at a nice price.

Down To The Kid is a Southwell specialist, with all six of his career wins coming at this track. He returned from a seven-month break last time out and ran a huge race when finishing a close second, suggesting he’ll strip much fitter for that run.

Drawn well in stall 3 and remaining on a workable mark, the main question is the drop back in trip, but he has plenty of early pace and should cope just fine. A big run is expected in a wide-open contest.

Magna showed dramatic improvement last time out when dropped to 6f for the first time, winning well after failing to score in 14 previous attempts over longer trips. That switch clearly unlocked improvement.

He remains unexposed over sprint distances and has the early speed to overcome a wider draw. Representing a solid yard and with Neil Callan again aboard, Magna looks capable of following up in a modest-looking race.

Ziggy’s Triton

Ziggy’s Triton is chasing a Southwell hat-trick after two impressive wins here, including defying a 10lb rise last time out when scoring again with something still left in hand.

He’s been hit with another 5lb rise, but the manner of his recent victories suggests there may still be more to come. Drawn well in stall 4 and with Mark Winn aboard, Ziggy’s Triton is taken to defy the handicap once again.

Queen Sansa remains a maiden after ten starts, but that has allowed her mark to drop to a very tempting level. She showed clear promise last time out when finishing a close second at Lingfield, suggesting a win is not far away.

This looks a weak race, the trip suits well, and she has previously shown ability at Southwell. Jack Dace’s 5lb claim is another positive, and Queen Sansa looks a major contender to finally get her head in front.
