Reason for Tip

Ballymackie is an eight year old horse who moved to the Murphy yard after the end of the 2024 season. Spent most of 2025 off and returned in a Novice chase at Leicester in December last year. Won that race in nice style and then went on to win lto at Ayr too, both over 2m4f and both wins looked convincing. Has contested much deeper races previously including a Grade 2 novice at Cheltenham in 2024. Still looks very well treated and looks to have a lot left in the tank and so looks nailed on for another big run here. Two wins from two runs since joining the Murphy’s and the yard remain in fantastic form. Sean Bowen has been aboard for the two wins recently and retains the ride again here today. Hattrick looks very much on and Ballymackie could take this with relative ease. Big chance.

Stride On has made an impressive start to his career, finishing third on debut before winning stylishly next time at Newcastle in NHF company. He made his hurdling debut last time on seasonal return, running a strong race to finish second.

He will be fitter today, has significant untapped potential, and is likely to improve now fully tuned up. Conditions suit well, and this is far from the strongest race on the card.
From a yard in great form and with Derek Fox booked, Stride On looks a winner in waiting.

Reason for Tip

Out of sorts for old yard last year and changed yards at the back end of last year and now resides with the Candlish’s. Solid fourth on debut for the new yard in January but failed to back that up lto at here at this track when a remote seventh. Did race far too freely that day and under a tighter ride is likely to run a better race. Drawn wide but does a lot of racing from the rear so won’t mind slotting in towards the back here. Jockey change today to Lewis Edmunds is no negative and Lewis is riding pretty well at the moment. Drops back into 0-75 company today and can’t be completely ruled off at this level off this mark and so a chance is taken on this five year old bouncing back and into the places at the least.

🎯 Dark Horse

Gone With The Tide – 2.13 Carlisle – 16/1

Trainer: Mrs A C Hamilton
Jockey: Jamie Hamilton

This is a wide-open race and Gone With The Tide looks an interesting outsider. His recent form doesn’t flatter, but that has resulted in a much-reduced handicap mark — one that could spark a return to form.

He pulled up on seasonal debut last time, but should be sharper today, and the drop back in trip is a positive. Importantly, his only previous run at Carlisle was a much improved effort, suggesting the track suits.

Given the mark, the trip adjustment, and the competitive nature of the race, he’s not one to completely dismiss at a price.

Outside chance — but capable of landing a place or better.

Seasmoke has taken well to chasing, finishing third on debut before improving further to win at Market Rasen last time. She is very progressive, and her ceiling in mares’ handicaps is still unknown.
Same trip, ideal ground, top jockey onboard — and in a weak race for the grade.

2️⃣ Give Him A Chance – 12.50 Navan – 4/1

Two wins in his last four in Ireland and ran a huge race at Cheltenham last time, finishing second in a Class 3.
The handicapper has been very lenient, leaving him on an attractive mark today. Back on home soil, on ideal ground, with a helpful 5lb claim, he looks primed to go very close.

3️⃣ Roaring Conquest – 1.40 Carlisle – 11/4

T: O Murphy | J: Gavin Sheehan

A classy type with strong form figures and a recent win at Windsor on return. Steps up to Class 2 today but has experience at much higher levels, including Novice Grade 2s.
He should come forward again for his seasonal debut win and will relish the conditions.
Represents an in-form yard with a top jockey — major player.

4️⃣ Onethreefivenotout – 3.00 Navan – 11/2

A complicated but talented nine-year-old who drops to a very workable mark today.
Returned from a long trip last time and now drops back to his ideal distance.
With Elliott in flying form and Kennedy booked, this looks a prime opportunity for a strong run.
